There Just Is No Bottom

So today, on national television, Donald Trump demanded that the Attorney General of the United States immediately open an "investigation" into the latest Hunter Biden accusations, and complete the entire thing and announce his "findings" before election day.  And we know exactly what those findings had better be.

And let us remember the monstrous crime that Biden committed that was (allegedly) revealed on the hard drive of this laptop.  Hunter Biden was on the board of directors of a Ukrainian energy company.  Maybe he should have never been there, but we have known about that for a long time, and known that a Ukrainian investigation cleared both Hunter and Joe of any wrongdoing.  So what did we learn from this hard drive?  There is an e-mail on it from another member of the board of this company, thanking Hunter for introducing him to Joe.  That's it.  Not a single suggestion that anything improper in any way occurred, just that a businessman (that would be Hunter) introduced another high ranking employee of his business to his father.  Even presuming that this computer and its contents ever existed outside of the fabrication facilities of the Russian government or the fevered imagination of the now clearly insane Rudy Giuliani, there is not a hint of a crime there.

But it is enough for our cursing orange baboon to demand that Biden be charged with a crime, and deny that he has any right to run for President.

Well, that is really the sort of conduct that we expect from Trump.  But what I want to know is, why have impeachment charges not already been lodged against this would-be dictator for attempting to use the Justice system to destroy his opponent?  Why are all supposedly reputable news organizations not calling for his immediate removal from office?  Why are the Democrats not demanding appropriate action about this, with at least the fervor that Republicans showed when Obama wore a tan suit? Why are 42% of the American people apparently so evil themselves that they glory in this sort of behavior?  Who cares that an election is only two weeks away; is it too close to November 3rd for people to act decently?

This country is deeply off the tracks, and whether or not Trump is finally removed from office in the near future, I deeply fear that there is no righting things at this point.

Two weeks to go. We ain'tseen nuthin yet. There is still time get the undecideds in the trump camp. If he can get joe and hunter and hillary and bill and obama arrested, tried, and convicted. If commie Barr will get off his fat ass and get em indicted. He's got the deep state on its knees and if we give him four more years he'll get the comet ping pong gang rounded up.
That was tough to write. That was a cliffs notes version of my co workers. The scary thought is we all drive big rigs lol. In just a very unscientific random sampling of the breakroom at work, we have 150 or so on the city board. (Seniority list) another 25 or so who run the road. So with roughly 175 drivers there are 125 absolutely insane trumpanzees. Another 40 or so quiet conservative supporters (LAW AND ORDER) and maybe 5 Biden supporters. Out of the 125 maybe 40 or so card carrying militia members who will be off on November 3 working as poll watchers. And if it goes badly on November 3 ? Well they're armed and ready. If that's a cross section of real America? And trust me, I'm on the road every day, and there are a LOT more trump bumper stickers in the great state of Wisconsin than there are Biden ones. As well as in factory parking lots. And yard signs. This is more of a statistical dead heat than people realize and down where the rubber meets the road (literally) it's no contest. I guess all we can hope for is that enough sane people vote to make it no contest

I am very sorry to hear that this is the world in which you must currently live. I just want to point out that I live in the Hollywood Hills and work in the entertainment industry, and I see no sign of a strong move toward Trump. Of course, our experiences are very different; truck drivers are stereotypically right wingers, and people in the Hollywood Hills are stereotypically left wingers. Generalizing from such skewed samples is the worst sort of anecdotal reasoning, so I will go with the polls. As I have said for months, it all comes down to the cheating. Trump cannot win in a fair election; the only question is how much Republicans are able to do to steal the Presidency.
