The Coming Surprise

Think that Donald Trump is so exhausted that he can't get up to one more monument to the destruction of democracy before election day?  Don't count on that- if there is one thing we know about him it is that he is always capable of sinking lower into the mire of his own degradation.

Do you really believe William Barr, who has proven to be as big a lying criminal bully as Trump, when he says that he doesn't plan on getting together with his toady John Durham to cook up one more blow to democracy the likes of which this country has never seen?

How cute of you.

Here is what the criminal Trump has had to say today:

"These people should be indicted—this was the greatest political crime in the history of our country. And that includes Obama and it includes Biden—these are people that spied on my campaign,"

"Barr's going to go down either as the greatest attorney general in the history of the country or he's gonna go down as a very sad situation," Trump said, claiming he has "all the information he needs."

And we have every reason to believe that whatever Trump orders, Barr is happy to deliver.

In fact, I believe that there is only one reason that the Barr Durham perversion of our legal system to attack Trump's enemies has not already erupted.  That is because Trump and Barr are waiting just another week or two to see just how far in the electoral muck Trump has descenced, before deciding what level of abominations they have to fabricate to bring Biden down.  Now, with Trump trailing in polls to a degree that will be hard to explain away, no matter how much electoral cheating the Republicans get up to (and of course, it will be everything they can think of,) Trump is openly talking of the arrest not just of Obama and Hillary, but of his electoral opponent, Biden, too.

Agar's Abomination. If you don't know, don't ask.  You have enough to worry about.

The sad thing is that, even at this point, that kind of behavior is, to most Americans, a characteristic of Hitler's Germany, Stalin's USSR, or any number of African dictatorships.  A large majority of Americans still cannot imagine such a thing happening here, and as a result, if it does happen, the effect may be a blow to democracy just great enough to carry through to election day.  After all, a small version of this strategy is what took place when Republican FBI head James Comey went public two weeks before the 2016 election with new insinuations of criminality against Hillary Clinton, which he knew perfectly well to be false; an act which was crucial in her electoral loss.  And Trump's need to win then was nothing like it is today, with him facing a likelihood of life in prison if he loses the election.

So I am fully prepared for what will be by far the greatest desecration of the American legal system in our entire history; the fabrication by the Attorney General of false charges up to and including treason against the Democratic Presidential candidate and his associates, and their very possible imprisonment for the last couple of weeks of the campaign.  Remember that nothing is beneath the Republicans if they think it is all they can do to retain power, and this could very well work, if carried out brazenly enough.  I still think this is the most likely end game of the worst Presidency in our history.
