Covfefe- The Truth Revealed

Image
Of course it takes Green Eagle to explain this to the whole world.  The word is not "covfefe," but "covpepe." It is a contraction of "covert pepe."  Trump is ordering his millions of jackbooted militia members, such as these battle hardened veterans: to remain under cover, because the time has not quite come to take direct action: That will be coming soon, don't you worry.

God We're Fucked

From the Washington Post today, this tidbit: "...there are signs that the president may not be retaining all the intelligence he is presented, fully absorbing its nuance, or respecting the sensitivities of the information and how it was gathered." He is mentally deficient, or senile, or just a person whose wealth protects him from the consequences of being monumentally stupid.  And he is a vicious, hate filled bully. And never forget that the Republicans who control Congress are going to do whatever they have to in order to keep him right where he is so he can put his name to the most piggish pack of legislation since Nazi Germany. Like I said, we're fucked. I haven't been posting much lately, because in the face of the fact that the entire government has been taken over by willing fascist tools, what good does it do to point out the latest examples of their evil?  They know what they are doing, we know what we are doing; the only people that don't kno...

A Vietnam Reminder

Due to a showing of Ken Burns' documentary of the Vietnam war, and a couple of news items, Vietnam seems to be having a bit of a resurgence in the news lately.  As the people of the United States have never come to accept the truth about our nation's involvement in Vietnam, I feel called upon to remind them of a couple of facts about that war, or in reality to tell them for the first time, as the American press and government have so thoroughly erased what I am about to say from our memory that not one person in a thousand knows this. First, I want to quote a little recognized section of the Constitution, from Article VI, section 2: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land" That is to say, treaties entered into by the United States government have equal legal standing to the Constitut...

Your Mainstream Press

They just won't give up normalizing the monstrosities we are forced to swallow from the Republican party.  Case in point today, the headline article in the Los Angeles Times: "Trump trip drives home America's new course...President's embrace of autocrats and criticism of allies set him apart from his predecessor" How about this for a change?  "President's embrace of autocrats and criticism of allies set him apart from every decent human being on earth." Thus, humanity and degradation become but two equal choices.  Democratic leaders?  Dictators?  Hey, it's just a matter of picking a "new course."  Because it's all the same, you see. And until the mainstream press refers to Republicans as the hideous criminals they are, don't even start talking to me about the liberal press, or even the halfway between press.  When you serve to cover evil, you are evil too, and when you provide cover for the endless evil behavior of Repu...

Busted

So, it has come to this: "President Trump asked two of the nation’s top intelligence officials in March to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government, according to current and former officials. Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election." And the Republicans go on and on, screaming endlessly that there is no evidence to tie Donald Trump to any crime. It does not take a long post to describe this behavior.  It is witness tampering, obstruction of justice and subornation of perjury, coming directly from the "president" of the United States.  It is also obviously consciousness of guilt, writ large across the sky in Washington. Donald Trump is a common criminal and a ...

Black Is White

And up is down, true is false, bad is good. A Saudi Prince had this to say about Donald Trump: "SAUDI PRINCE: TRUMP A 'STRONG PRESIDENT' IN FIGHT AGAINST DANGEROUS IRAN" I read in the Los Angeles Times this weekend that the Saudis not only called Trump a strong President, but they contrasted him to Obama, who they called a weak President. See, it is strong to buckle under to the demands of one of the worst dictatorships on earth, and agree to provided them with $110 billion dollars of advanced weapons to carry on their terrorist religious wars, but it is weak to refuse to finance their hatred, and instead to try to make peace with that dictatorship's rivals.  Here is a particularly ironic statement of the current principles governing U.S.-Saudi affairs: "Concerning terrorism in the region, both parties agreed that recruitment campaigns carried out by some terrorist groups in Saudi Arabia against Saudi citizens are launched to legitimize these grou...

Trump Bows To Saudi King

Image
Do you remember the last eight years of right wing smear merchants screaming about Obama bowing to the Saudi King, because the much taller Obama leaned over to shake hands with him?  Well, I hope to hell that we see this picture every day until Trump is dead: Well, what do you expect?  Give him something made out of gold, and he'd crawl across the room on his belly to get his hands on it.

Blowback

Here are the headlines of all the "above the fold" stories at the Washington Post on Friday afternoon: "White House adviser close to Trump is a person of interest in Russia probe...Investigation into Russian meddling reaches highest level of government" "In 119 days, President Trump has made 586 false and misleading claims. We tracked them all." "Trump’s media firewall is collapsing as the Russia probe gets closer...Recapping a stunningly bad two weeks for the White House" "Trump, who demonized Muslims on the campaign trail, plans to preach tolerance in a speech in Saudi Arabia...Trump plans to do a rhetorical pirouette with a speech Sunday in the birthplace of Islam..." Now, here is the one thing the Republican party seems never to have thought of, as they were spending decades training American voters to regard politics as just another reality show, and to make their decisions based on whatever seemed like it might be the ...

People Who Never Saw a Mob Movie in Their Lives

So, we learn that Michael Flynn is still in contact with Trump: "Saddled with steep legal bills, Flynn wanted to reconnect with old friends and talk about potential future business opportunities. But one overriding question among those present were his views on the president who had fired him from his national security advisor post.   Flynn left little doubt about the answer.  Not only did he remain loyal to President Trump; he indicated that he and the president were still in communication. “I just got a message from the president to stay strong,” Flynn said after the meal was over..." The universal interpretation of this fact is that the President and Flynn are just such good buddies that Trump interrupted his endless obsession with himself to call Flynn and comfort him. How can people be so willfully stupid?  Well, okay, we are talking about the mainstream press here, but as I said, didn't they ever see a movie about the Mafia?  It is crystal clear that ...

A Lesson on Republican Damage Control

We learned yesterday that nearly a year ago, in a conversation with some other Republican Congressional leaders, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said that he believed Trump was on Putin's payroll. When questioned by a reporter, the conversation went something like this: "We heard you accused Trump of being on Putin's payroll"         "That never happened" "But we have a transcript of the conversation"         "The transcript is wrong." "Actually, we have a tape of it."         "Oh, I was just kidding when I said it." Three lies in a row.  Well, what else do you expect?  Lying to hide treason.  Because nothing makes a damned bit of difference to them except paying off the rich bastards who put up the money to put them in office.  And sad to say, getting rid of Trump is not going to change that one bit.  We had better be looking way past Trump if we ever want to see an end to the mis...

And Now the Good News

Roger Ailes is dead. One down, about five thousand of these Republican traitors to go.

Coward McCain Backs Off Already

I am going to just reprint this short article from the Washington Post, in which that great Republican hero, and man of unshakable righteousness, Saint John McCain, tries as furiously as is humanly possible to back out of his comparison yesterday of Trump's monumental criminality to Watergate: "Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who compared the current controversies to Watergate on Tuesday night, shed light Wednesday on his attention-grabbing remark.   “What I was saying was that these scandals need to be completely — all the information needs to get out as quickly as possible so we can resolve the issue and move forward,” said McCain.   He added: “It is a serious issue the way other scandals have been serious issues.”   In the Watergate scandal, President Nixon resigned before he could be impeached.   Asked whether the current imbroglio could lead to impeachment, McCain responded: “I have no idea of that — come on.”   Pressed further on whether he was ...

A History Lesson from our President

Image
Donald Trump today: “No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly” Oh yeah, asshole?  How about this guy? Or maybe this guy: No, Trump has it so much worse. This statement by Trump is an absolute abomination. With Trump, we have a combination of ignorance and malignant egomania which is truly world class.  Now that he thinks that he is the target of so much unfair hostility, his mental state is clearly deteriorating by the day.  Will the Republicans, still hoping to get a massive tax giveaway out of Congress in time for him to put his signature on it, delay his removal until he damages the country beyond repair?  Stay tuned.

Wingnut Wrapup

So, what are the wingnuts moaning about, while their beloved President destroys the last shreds of democratic government in the country, and makes himself out to be one of the biggest idiots in recorded human history?? Well, of course, we expect this one: Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Judicial Watch President: Hillary Clinton Still Faces Legal Jeopardy Over Gross Mishandling of Classified Information" Which of course she did not do, but with our current government, that is hardly enough to keep her out of prison. This story was written before Donald Trump's spilling his guts about Israeli intelligence operations to the Russians was revealed.  I wonder how Katie feels about that? Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Interview with Healthcare Wonk Lanhee Chen: How Can the Senate Improve the Healthcare Bill?" Well, that should prove to be some helpful advice.  Never heard of Lanhee Chen?  He works for the "Hoover Institute," one of the oldest standing right ...

How Many Reasons to Impeach?

Let's start out by remembering that, no matter how they spin it, the Republicans impeached Bill Clinton over a blow job, and that they tried for years to gin up an impeachment of Barack Obama based on an endless series of lies about Benghazi. Times have sure changed, huh?  We now have an absolutely out of control, mentally defective Republican President who seems to be licensed to engage in any sort of abomination without its bothering Congressional Republicans one bit.  He seems to commit clearly impeachable abuses weekly, if not daily, and not one single Republican will state the obvious in public. I think I'll just take a walk through the last few months and list some of the grounds that exist to remove this malignant character from the White House.  I will start with the most recent and work my way into the past, where the real abominations lie. 1.  Trump has just been caught revealing the nation's most secret intelligence data to the Russians.  Compar...

Headline of the Day

From Crooks and Liars: "White House Comms Staff Are Screaming At Each Other Right Now" And life goes on, in the Trump administration.  Is there any way that this could get more degraded?

Antivaxxers Spread the Truth

Image
Not that it is at all surprising, but here is a screen shot of a remark that showed up in my Disqus feed: Oh well.

Hopeless

Image
Let's just cut things to the most basic.  The entire survival of the United States, at least as anything the world could ever want to see, depends on the discovery of three honest Republicans. And right now, even one does not seem to exist anywhere in the country.  A party that has systematically, over several decades of work, managed to purge every single decent person from a position of power.  And virtually the entire population of the country carefully averts its gaze from that fact, and insists on ignoring the vermin clawing away at every decent thing about us. That's the story- I could repeat these few sentences every day from now until we have descended into an open dictatorship, which we are rapidly doing, and nothing will change.  Instead, the nation will be flooded with infinite distractions from this fact; infinite explanations about how it's our destruction is the fault of someone, anyone else.  And the infinite lies are well on the way to overw...

The Enemy of My Enemy

Is not necessarily my friend. Case in point: James Comey. Yes, he may be the latest victim to be rubbed out by Donald Trump, but never forget that he is also a right wing hatchet man who used his position to stab Hillary Clinton in the back during the campaign, and is probably the number one single person responsible for the disaster we are facing today. Comey is a thoroughly evil man, regardless of what he is now doing to try to salvage his public image.  He is no more trustworthy or admirable, in the end, than the traitor he put in the Oval Office.  Please do not allow yourselves to forget that fact.

Loyalty

Image
As reported in the New York Times today: "WASHINGTON — Only seven days after Donald J. Trump was sworn in as president, James B. Comey has told associates, the F.B.I. director was summoned to the White House for a one-on-one dinner with the new commander in chief.  The president...turned the conversation to whether Mr. Comey would pledge his loyalty to him." I don't think I need say any more about this.

Obstruction of Justice

I want to give a huge "well done" to Josh Marshall, at Talking Points Memo, for catching the following statement by Donald Trump, in a CNN interview today.  So far, nobody else seems to have grasped the significance of what Trump says, or as is probably the case, the mainstream press is just ignoring it. "I was going to fire Comey knowing, there was no good time to do it.  And in fact, when I decided to do it, I said to myself, I said you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won." As Marshall suggests, this is explicit confession of obstruction of justice, a crime which easily forms legitimate grounds for impeachment. Well, throw it in the scrap heap with the dozens of other grounds for impeachment which this traitor has piled up in the last three months, because we know damned well that his Republican buddies don't give a damn about anythi...

THE GREAT DANGER

In all of the excitement about the complete dissolution of even the thinnest veneer of legitimacy surrounding Donald Trump's Presidency, it is vitally important that we not lose sight of the most significant fact in all of this: EVERY OTHER REPUBLICAN IS JUST AS BAD And I mean every one, without exception.  Every single one of them believes in destroying Social Security and Medicare and giving all the money to the rich.  Every one of them believes the country should be an oligarchic dictatorship.  Every one of them believes in savaging the poor and middle class to benefit their rich backers.  Every one.  Every single one of them without exception is a monster of corruption, as bad as Trump.  They just hide it a little better than he does, with a huge assist from the mainstream press, which has spent decades meticulously averting its eyes from the horrors the Republican party has visited upon us. The Republicans learned a huge lesson from the Nixon hum...

They Don't Even Care How Preposterous Their Lies Are

From the Washington Post today, a classic example of our mainstream press at work: "Acting FBI director Andrew McCabe vowed Thursday that he would tell the Senate Intelligence Committee if the White House tried to interfere with the bureau’s probe of possible coordination between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 presidential election — though he asserted that there had “been no effort to impede our investigation to date.”   McCabe made the statements at a public hearing with top U.S. intelligence officials before the Senate Intelligence Committee — a hearing that has taken on new significance since Trump suddenly removed James B. Comey from the FBI’s top post." They fired the head of the FBI as soon as he said he was continuing the investigation into them, and the guy they put in as his acting replacement just came out and said there has been no effort to impede the investigation.  And the Washington Post repeats it as though it were the gos...

35%

The Washington Post has just reported that the latest Quinnipiac poll shows Donald Trump's approval rating has sunk from 40% after his bombings a couple of weeks ago, to 35% today.  And remember that these numbers largely do not reflect the news we have had in the last 24 hours.  This is the lowest Trump rating yet, and the lowest ever recorded for a President in his first term.  And remember that Quinnipiac tends, for whatever reason, to lean slightly Republican, so we could guess that the real number is something like 33%, or only six percentage points about the dead minimum support that any Republican gets from their self destructive, hate filled base.  It'll be interesting to see where he is next week, although as we approach the core remnant of their irredentist batch of morons, each further point down will get harder and harder to reach.

The Treason Train Rolls On

I want to discuss the preposterous lies and disgusting behavior that have come out of the Republicans in Washington over just the last day, concerning the Trump hatcheting of James Comey, but before I do I have to talk about legitimate grounds for believing things. We know that these grounds are completely different for the two political parties.  If you are a Republican, you are entitled to believe that the Clintons have murdered close to a hundred people, that Barack Obama is a Muslim Communist agent who spent his whole time in office (with notable lack of success) working to destroy the United States, that Hillary Clinton runs a child rape business out of a pizza parlor in Washington D. C.and on and on.  On the other hand, Democrats are bound by more than the rules of a jury trial, and basically have no right to say what is right in front of our faces, without having an engraved golden tablet signed by Jesus, Mohammed and the Angel Moroni providing evidence of Republican ...

Wingnut Wrapup

Image
I want to start this edition of Wingnut Wrapup by reporting that, in a poll this week, 30% of Americans claim to approve of the Republican health care bill.  If there is any sign of how little benefit is to be gained from caring about what is true and what is false, this is it.  It's the old 27% of brain-dead haters and idiots, plus or minus a few percent, created by the Republican party, that keep this country from being a decent place, who lap up the "reporting" that I cover in Wingnut Wrapup; and there does not seem to be a thing we can do to change that. I also want to remember Bob Owens.  Bob used to have a site called Confederate Yankee, which for years provided fodder for Wingnut Wrapup.  Bob was quite a gun nut, and eventually he abandoned that site for one which only dealt with guns.  The content of that site was not of much interest to me, so he pretty much disappeared from Wingnut Wrapup. Well, I want to sincerely (I mean it this time) send my con...
