Wingnut Wrapup

Let's just hop to it with one of the dumbest things I've ever heard:

Courtney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Sigh: The Media Still Thinks the Obamas Are Celebrities"

How could they think that, when, actually, no one knows who they are, right?.  Here's a little more from Courtney:

"Us Weekly...published a flowery piece on Obama the day before the presidential election last year after asking him to reveal “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me.” The editors made sure to include the following note: Us also asked Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, 65, to submit a "25 Things" list, but he declined.

Yeah, maybe that’s because he was too busy trying to act presidential."

"Trying to act presidential."  Yup, that just about sums things up.  Trying and failing.  Unlike Obama, who doesn't have to try to act Presidential, because he is the President.  When Obama wants to act Presidential he just has Osama bin Laden killed, or makes a treaty with a country that previously hated us.  Or giving thirty million Americans a chance at health insurance, while Mitt was busy building himself a car elevator.

John C. Goodman, Town Hall:  "Was Kennedy a Conservative?

The idea that John F. Kennedy was really a conservative, rather than the liberal icon he is so often depicted as, is the thesis of a new book by Ira Stoll. The idea is seconded by George Will in a column in The Washington Post. Are they correct?"

No.  They're batshit crazy.  Or just really bad liars.

Brad Jackson, Red State:  "About that suspicious jobs report...Brad Jackson and Ben Domenech are joined by Francis Cianfrocca to discuss the politically advantageous and totally falsified jobs report of October 2012, Brad’s now proven analysis that the stats were rigged and this administration’s systemic culture of lying and manipulation."

Of course, the stats must be rigged, because they didn't show utter disaster for Obama, as ordained by God.

Thomas Sowell, Human Events:  "New York City police authorities are investigating a series of unprovoked physical attacks in public places on people who are Jewish, in the form of what is called “the knockout game.”

The way the game is played, one of a number of young blacks decides to show that he can knock down some stranger on the streets, preferably with one punch, as they pass by. Often some other member of the group records the event, so that a video of that “achievement” is put on the Internet, to be celebrated.

The New York authorities describe a recent series of such attacks and, because Jews have been singled out in these attacks, are considering prosecuting these assaults as “hate crimes.”

Actually, the "knockout game" appears to be an urban myth, but it provides a great opportunity for right wingers to go off on another racist tirade.  I chose this particular example of something which is all across the right wing web these days, because it is told by a black man, who could not degrade himself more if he had sex with a schnauzer in public.

And now another wingnut post showing how vicious this hateful smear can become:

Jack Cashill, American Thinker:  "How Trayvon's Knockout Game Went Bad...The media's collective failure to acknowledge the pervasiveness of the knockout game enabled them to turn would-be knockout king Trayvon Martin into a martyr and his victim, George Zimmerman, into a racist vigilante. If  he had not had an audience, Trayvon Martin would likely have made it back safely to the townhouse where he was staying in Sanford, Florida, that rainy night in February 2012. The knockout game is played for glory. Martin's audience consisted of one person, the sassy, defiant, plus-sized Rachel Jeantel who talked to Martin by phone throughout the encounter."

So,  the "knockout game" likely does not exist (in the cited examples of this supposed phenomenon, the perpetrators virtually all indicate that their actions had nothing to do with any "game," but were routine assaults,) but it does have a purpose: allowing this race baiting slime to tell an entirely made up story about a dead black child, without a shred of evidence, in which his murderer becomes his victim, and he becomes the bad guy.  This article goes on in sickening detail, but enough is enough.

J. Christian Adams, PJ Media:  "Pressure is growing on House Speaker John Boehner to appoint a select committee on Benghazi."

Guy, you've got to be out of your fucking mind.

Bryan Preston, PJ Media:  "President Obama has elected to skip today’s commemoration of the 150th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. But he participated in video readings of the address for a Ken Burns project. Along with 61 other lawmaker and celebrity participants, Obama read the address on camera from a teleprompter. But unlike the other participants, all of whom recited the entire address, Chris Plante noticed that Barack Obama left out two words: “Under God.”

This is another smear that has been flying around the wingnut world the last couple of days.  Actually, Ken Burns asked Obama to read the earliest known draft of the Gettysburg Address, which did not contain the words "under God."  The truth about this story has been known for days now, but I don't see it leaking onto the Conservative websites that have been pushing the lies.

Michael Bresciani, Renew America:  "Can and does Satan actually deceive an entire nation like America?  The answer to this question is – easily!"

Why are people like this not in locked facilities?

John Ransom, Town Hall:  "Liberals Messing with Constitution...Unlike the U.S. constitution, which is a document that limits government power in order to secure the rights of man, the Commie constitution is a list of affirmative powers granted the government to regulate the lives of citizens."

The Commie constitution.  That's a new one on me.

And a little more about the tragedy that is the Nuclear Option:

Bridget Johnson, PJ Media:  "Nuclear Option ‘Greatly Eroded’ Graham’s Leverage to Get Benghazi Answers"

So sad.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "AWFUL… Obama Has Not Yet Called Israel on Nuclear Agreement With Iran"

He hasn't called Nigeria or Liechtenstein either.  So what?  Our foreign policy is ours.  You'd think the xenophobic Republicans would like that state of affairs.  But of course, not with Israel, which is currently headed by Ted Cruz with a Mezzuzzah.

Newsmax:  "Cruz: Democrats want to pack D.C. court to save Obamacare"

Note that a Democratic President appointing someone to fill a judicial position is "packing" the court.  Because only right wing, corrupt tools of the rich have a right to be judges.

Joseph Farah, World Net Daily:  "PREPARE FOR DEMS' BIG LIE FOR 2014...who is going to call them on this huge whopper?

What is the Democrat big lie for 2014?  I predict it will be that Obama and his party are responsible for historic deficit reduction... Officials make the case that Obama has cut the deficit more than in half since 2009.  Obama has made the claim."

And as is usual with wingnuts, truth is lies and lies are truth.

Larry Klayman, World Net Daily:  "Stand with the people or go home...Last Tuesday, the Reclaim America Now Coalition, true to our word, massed in front of the White House in Lafayette Park and delivered a Declaration of Independence demanding that President Barack Hussein Obama either address and remedy the grievances of the people or resign."

Larry, you already stood with the people- all 100 of them, which is all you could get to turn out to your miserable excuse for a protest.  The other 300 million of us stayed home.  Yet you have the nerve to claim that 100 people "massed" in front of the White House.  Man, talk about a shameless con man.

Rick Moran, American Thinker:  "Former UN Ambassador John Bolton knows a thing or two about negotiating with Iran. So it's not surprising that he would take the position that the deal reached last night with the West amounted to "abject surrender."

Bolton, a.k.a. the Moustache of Doom (as opposed to the Moustache of Stupidity- Tom Friedman- another Washington insider without a clue about the Middle East) knows a thing or two about negotiating with Iran?  What exactly does he know?  Because if his past performance is any indication, he knows exactly nothing about Iran or any other country in the Middle East.  Obama and Kerry just accomplished more in a few weeks than Bolton has in his whole life, other than spreading his own taste for hatred and violence directed toward non-white people.

And here's a comment on a post at National Review Online that brought a smile to my face:

"Unfortunately if there is no other solution then all that remains is a civil and hopefully military uprising. This is what the Demorats (crony capitalist Bolsheviks) have wanted all along so they can try to get total power over us."

"Capitalist Bolsheviks."  They don't care if it even makes the slightest sense.  They just string insults together even though the terms are total opposites.  Because it's not about politics or ideology, as I have often said.  All American Conservatism is about is "cut my taxes, and I don't care what I have to say or do to make you do it."  The love of money- the root of all evil; or at least of all right wing evil.

Dick Morris, Right Wing News:  "Obama and Reid Stage De Facto Coup d’Etat...on Thursday, there was a virtual coup d’etat on the floor of the U.S. Senate when the Democrats, in a party-line vote, stripped the Republicans of any role in judicial confirmations."

But they didn't strip the Republicans of any role in judicial confirmations- Republicans can vote yes or no on the appointment of any Federal judge.  If they are in the majority, they win; if they are in the minority they lose.  That's called democracy.  In the Republican system, we only have that when they are in the majority.  When they are in the minority, we have belligerence, threats and obstruction.  That's not called democracy, in case you were wondering.  It's called being an asshole.

John Hawkins, Right Wing News:  "No, Liberals, We’re Not Going To Help You “Fix” Obamacare."

Of course not.  You aren't going to help us fix anything.  You are too busy breaking more things.  That's just the way you are.

There I was, just about to call it a day, when I found a fine new edition of "Wingnut Wrapup." Perfect way to end the weekend. Thanks!

The ‘knockout game’ as is generally described is real, but it is not new, nor is it race-based.

When I worked with members of the US military in the 90s it was described to me by them as they were actual former participants.
They were remorseful - though I told them they were utter fuckwits anyway.

But there was no profile to the victim. As it was described to me it was done against random male persons - on bicycles because of the momentum.
Great way to kill someone or cause irreparable life-changing damage which possibility did not seem to occur to them at the time.

(note this is not a slag at the US military - our military has brainless idiots too and we have less excuse because ours is infinitely smaller)

Wow. That was a long wrapup this week. I safely predict that they will become even longer during the next year as the mad scramble for re-elections draw nearer.

Perhaps, Paul. One of the problems I have is that, as elections approach, the wingnuts are forced to stay more and more on message, so that there are a huge number of posts about the same few subjects. You could take the subject of any one of the comments I make fun of, and I could do my whole column about that alone (as is done very well every week by Roy Edroso of Alicublog) but I try to not post too many things about any one issue. So at times it gets really hard for me to find enough that I think combine idiocy and humor in the right quantity to keep people entertained.
