Still Clueless

Mitt Romney:

ROMNEY: We did very well with the majority population, but not with minority populations, and that was a failing, that was a real mistake.
CHRIS WALLACE: Why do you think that was?
ROMNEY: Well, I think the Obamacare attractiveness and feature was something we underestimated, particularly among lower incomes. And, uh, just didn’t do as good a job in connecting with that audience as we should have.

They underestimated the attractiveness of a country in which people could afford health care when they are sick, as opposed to one in which large numbers of them could just die.

On the other hand, they overestimated the attractiveness to average people of no taxes on the rich.

And yes, they are apparently convinced that no health care and a free ride for wealthy people worked just fine with white people.  It was those damned minorities that decided that "features" for everyone made more more sense than features which helped no one but a few thousand families.

Maybe they're right about that.  Maybe white people now are the most stupid and gullible ethnic group in America.  Maybe it's about time for the white people Mitt is talking about to wake up.  The alternative seems to be for us to wait for them all to die off before we can have a decent country again.

It just once again demonstrates the stupidity of the republican power structure and the people who support them.

I know it’s a matter of interpretation, and I’m not hearing the inflexion, but here’s how that little exchange reads to me….

The auto-association between minority and low income…. apparently white people never have low income.

He makes “minority” sound like some primitive bunch of peasants that respond better if you give them beads.
Mitt, those people are your fellow citizens – not people you throw a coin to in the car park on the way into the club.

And what’s with the missing pronoun in the last sentence? WHO didn’t connect with the people, Mitt? Was it you, was it the club or was it the party or all of the above?
