Gun Defense in Action
With guns being used these days to kill little kids and all, people on the right have been hunting for stories of folks who used their God-given right to defend themselves with a lethal weapon, to argue that we should just be allowed to pack any kind of heat we want. Well, in a spirit of bipartisanship, Green Eagle would like to bring you the inspiring story of a champion of gun rights and her experience.
This is the story of Melanie Hain. You may not remember her name (Green Eagle certainly didn't) but you may vaguely remember her story. A couple of years ago, when walking around with guns in public was all the rage among the wingnuts, Melanie made the national news for packing a pistol at her child's soccer game. Here she is, and quite a sight too:
Well, I wouldn't mess with this mama. She's out to protect herself, and if you bug her, watch out, right? She's armed and dangerous.
So, it's about time that we checked in with Melanie and found out how that self-protection thing is working out for her...
...Oh dear:
"Gun-toting soccer mom found shot dead
A mother of three who became a voice of the gun-rights movement when she openly carried a loaded pistol to her daughter's soccer game was fatally shot along with her husband, a parole officer and former prison guard, in an apparent murder-suicide at their home.
The couple's 10-year-old son and daughters ages 2 and 6 were home at the time, police said. The two older children ran outside and told neighbors that their father had shot their mother, neighbors said.
Neighbor Aileen Fortna, 51, said that her husband noticed the two older Hain children running past their house and crying. She said the children told another neighbor that "daddy shot mommy."
Meleanie Hain always carried her holstered 9mm Glock pistol, even to the grocery store, and was holding a rifle while she talked to someone outside her house last week, Fortna said.
"I'm shocked at the whole thing," Fortna said. "I'm surprised she didn't defend herself."
She didn't defend herself. Turns out it's not so easy.
I'm so glad that her years of gun toting really worked out for her when she needed the experience. Excuse me for not showing a shred of sympathy, but "live by the Glock, die by the Glock."

“You would leave law-abiding Pretty Miss Shaw at the mercy of those who can physically overpower her. A gun levels the playing field for people like Pretty Miss Shaw. Let that sink in for a minute.”
…
Yeah it would level the field alright…
it would level it by making her horizontal six feet under it.
It is only the vicious, contemptible parents for whom I have no sympathy. They let themselves be suckered by the NRA and Republican "leaders" into adopting a violent fantasy as their world view, and they gave their lives for it.
