"Republican Party Unravels Over Trump’s Takeover...
G.O.P. leaders fear their party is on the cusp of an epochal split between familiar conservatism and a rekindled, atavistic nationalism. The crisis over Donald J. Trump reflects years of fraying ties between party elites and voters."
I know I am going to get really boring between now and November, finding different ways to say the same thing, but let's get something straight right now: There never were any "ties" between Republican party elites and the suckers that they lied into voting for them; the whole system was rigged to use the voters like livestock, to maintain the position of Republican leaders and the rich guys that pay to keep them on top of the heap. That included endlessly betraying their voters, and then mesmerizing them into taking it again.
And as for a split, there is really no inconsistency between greed (i.e. "familiar conservatism") and hatred (i.e. "atavistic nationalism.") Those are the two fuels on which the Republican party has run for a hundred years. The only thing is, a bunch of rubes have figured out that the greed has only worked out for rich guys, and without believing that giving up their free will and their sense will somehow make them rich, the rubes aren't playing along so well.
The rich guys just overestimated the degree that they could manipulate their suckers into doing whatever they want, and it came back to bite them this time. But, don't worry- they'll recalculate how much garbage they can get White Americans to eat, and be right back in the saddle next time around. And until we take away their money, and throw a bunch of them in prison, they will keep doing it until doomsday. You can count on that.
