The Idiocy
It's been really hard for me to get up the interest in posting anything lately. Who can have any doubt about the sick spectacle that is our electoral process this year; and yet the press insists on ignoring the monster in the room, and pretending that everything is just fine. And that's all they want to talk about.
The Republicans had a "debate" a couple of days ago which was virtually devoid of any real content, and which consisted of nothing but the three top vote getters engaging in an insult competition, in which one of them, with Olympic class skills, was clearly going to emerge victorious, having proven absolutely nothing of note.
The following picture, which I stole from Crooks and Liars, pretty much encapsulates the whole thing to me:
Pretty much says it all, huh?
After their depraved performances in the last couple of electoral cycles, I thought the Republicans were going to have to work really hard to sink to an even lower level of depravity, but I was wrong.
And that is all that is, apparently, going on in this country. How often can people repeat it before dying of boredom?

The most depraved incident of the election so far was hearing a leading candidate defending the rapist of Juanita Broddrick - the rapist who also sexually assaulted Kathleen Willey.
Rape victims should be believed, but one candidate has been smearing them as dishonest instead.
Who's that candidate? She's the one leading the Democratic field.
Better an insult contest than a defense of a serial rapist.
(2) There were five people who say that Broaddrick told them about the rape shortly after it happened. Are all five of those people being paid off by right-wingers?
(3) Here's an article by Caitlin Flanagan, a confirmed Democrat. She believes Jones and Broddrick when their stories came out:
"But by then, I had learned to doubt. By then I had learned to ask questions I never had asked about rape victims before. Why had she waited so long to tell the story publicly? Why had she chosen that particular moment? Why did small details not add up? What did she stand to gain from telling it?
The Clinton machine taught me to ask those questions of rape victims." [Quotes from Flanagan.]
I suppose that, in your warped universe, the GOP is paying her off, too.
Oh, by the way, Green Eagle, I initially thought you were mistaken about some things. But when I pointed out that New Hampshire wasn't ultra-conservative after you said it was, you didn't even bother to defend your position; you just called me a liar. You said I called NH ultra-liberal, but I never did.
You're just a loathsome smear machine who launches ad hominem attacks against anyone who disagrees with you.
I have a weakness for being picky, but I think you mean the WWE. WWF refers to the World Wildlife Fund (which is still its official name in the United States).
The World Wrestling Federation got in a trademark dispute with the World Wildlife Fund, and thus changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2002, making it the WWE.
OK?
I'd rather compare the GOP field to the Jerry Springer show. If the GOP debates were scripted like the WWE, they would have arranged it so that Trump wasn't the dominant candidate.
