Wingnut Wrapup

Man, the political scene in the United States these days has degenerated into such a boring round of Republican lying that I can't bring myself to write posts that won't accomplish a thing except annoy my few readers.  Well, in the meantime, here's one more glance into Republican thinking, starting with this comment about the campaign:

Victor Davis Hanson, Town Hall:  "100 Days is a Long Time"

Panicking, what?

Michael Barone, Town Hall:  "Partisan Divide: Eggheads Get What They Wished For "

Eggheads?  Eggheads?  Where do these people get this stuff?  From Archie comic books from 1957?  Listen, you've got to come up with something better than eggheads if you want that sort of thing to work.  How about Islamocommunist fascist terrorists?  What?  You've tried that one too?  It didn't work either, except among ignorant racists who were going to vote for you already?  Man, you are sunk.

Ben Shapiro, Town Hall:  "The Democratic Party Fascists Take Over"

That would be the boycott of Chick-Fil-A.  Yes indeed, not buying some crappy chicken sandwich is the same as starting a war that killed 50 million people.  Well, Rep. Steve King told us recently that giving women health care was the same as Pearl Harbor, so I guess health care is the same as mass murder.  But wait, there's more:

Erik Rush, World Net Daily:  "German Jews and the Chick-fil-A flap- totalitarian Nazis started persecution with business boycotts"

Well, we knew that was coming, didn't we?  By the way (not that it matters, I guess,) his claim is, of course, a complete lie.  The Nazis started with meetings of thugs in beer halls, violent attacks on other political parties and an attempt to overthrow the Bavarian government, but how much historical accuracy would you expect from someone who compares not buying a chicken sandwich to kristallnacht?  And you think we're done yet?

Robert Stacy McCain, The Other McCain:  "Hitler: ‘My Main Goal of Supporting the German Community Outweighed the Collateral Damage to Poland …"

Hitler!  What was Mr. McCain maundering about this time?  Some guy drove through the Chick-Fil-A line and said something mean to the girl at the window!  Yes, a liberal saying something mean- exactly the same as Hitler invading Poland!

Andrew C. McCarthy, PJ Media:  "Islamic Democracy' Does Not Make Statesmen out of Terrorists"

Well, Andrew, American democracy didn't make statesmen out of Bush and Cheney.   Or Romney either, as we've so recently learned during his little trip overseas. So we're even.  Or maybe even ahead by two.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Government Motors Profits Fall 41% in Second Quarter-Barack Motors Tanks"

Well, here's a real sign of how much right wingers really love capitalism.  One of the United States' largest and most iconic private companies sees its profits go down, and there are the wingnuts standing there cheering.  If you needed any more proof that they will see the whole country collapse rather than have to face the fact that Barack and the Democrats did something right, well, here it is.

John Hawkins, Town Hall:  "25 Examples of What America Would Be Like if We Were All Christian Conservative Tea Partiers"

Well, don't expect me to read this garbage, but here's one example, courtesy of Green Eagle:

See, two can play that game.  Of course, taking a look around, Green Eagle just might be telling the truth about this one, sad to say.

Elizabeth Meineke, Town Hall:  "86 Percent of ABC, CBS, NBC Evening News Stories on Romney's Overseas Trip Emphasized His 'Missteps'

The truth hurts, jackass.  What did you expect, "Romney keeps away from Rifalca, triumphantly avoids breaking horse's leg before Olympics?"  Because that's about the only positive thing that happened on Mitt's trip.

Demetrius Minor, Town Hall:  "The Left Continues To Ignore Rampant Voter ID Fraud"

Needless to say, Demetrius could not find one single example to put in his article.  I actually know of two- a Republican candidate caught a couple of weeks ago whose wife has voted in every election despite being dead for five years, and Ann Coulter. Not that much of a Democratic plot, really.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Barack Obama is Harry Reid's "Credible" Source...According to Romney campaign surrogate John Sununu, Harry Reid's "credible" source who supposedly told him Mitt Romney hasn't paid taxes for ten years, is actually Barack Obama and his campaign team."

Right.  And you know this how?

"Sununu said he suspects the White House is behind Reid’s claims because Obama launched similar attacks against Sarah Palin, Sen. John McCain and Hillary Clinton during the 2008 campaign."

Really.  He did?  He accused McCain and Palin of not paying their taxes?  Funny, I don't remember that.  I guess Sununu must be right- after all, we never see anything false at Town Hall, do we?

Town Hall:  "Whoa: New Book Details Obama's "Disdain," "Anger" Towards Romney"

This one might be true.  Mitt tells new lies about Obama every damned day.  How do you expect Obama to feel about him?

Craig Steiner, Town Hall:  "Global Warming Debunked by Intelligent Design"

Man, there's no end to the stupidity.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "They’re Ba-ack!… #Occupy Goons Screaming “F**K Obama!” Attack Campaign Office – Smash Windows"

And Jim knows the vandals are Occupy protesters how?  Well, he never gets around to explaining that.  Of course he didn't considers the likelihood that people who would scream "F**C Obama" might come from, shall we say, the other side of the political spectrum.  No, of course not.  Conservatives never resort to violent attacks on liberal politicians.

The Washington Times:  "Obama arming al Qaeda"

The horror!  Our President is giving arms to our enemy!  Impeach the bastard!

Well, not quite...after about a year and a half of being screamed at by the Republicans for not starting another war against Arabs in Syria, Obama is giving some military supplies to the rebels.  So, now what they've been howling for becomes an act of treason.  Republican thinking at its finest.

World Net Daily:  "Music superstar unloads "truth" about Obama"

Music superstar:  Charlie Daniels.  Charlie Daniels?  God, that guy is even more of a has-been than Ted Nugent.  That's the best they can do...some washed up redneck with a violin.  We'll stick with the Boss.

Jack Cashill, American Thinker:  "What Would Che Think of Same-Sex Marriage?"

Man, that one is keeping us up nights, huh?

Jeannie DeAngelis, Renew America:  "Obama stoops to new fundraising lows...Exploitative fundraising efforts have included featuring the family dog Bo in the $5-donation "Throw Bo a Bone" fundraiser"

Bo. Man, that's hitting below the belt.  Who knows if Bo even intends to vote for Obama?

Robert Stacy McCain, The Other McCain:  "Dennis Miller’s Opinion Of Harry ‘Dingius Maximus’ Reid Hasn’t Improved"

Boy, that must have really hurt Harry's feelings.

Well, Let's finish with this one.  Green Eagle's wanderings throught the right wing sewer took a little bit of a wrong turn the other day, and he came across the following:

Defender of Precious Truth:  " Admit it, u cowardly puke: U'RE TOTALLY TERRORIZED BY JEWS (and their suck-alongs)...One of the reasons it's so easy to lose respect for the scum of USA--"the people"--is they're such addicted puke  to --the TV and false "prosperity"--MAMMON worshippers, truly.

But further, and most of all, they're (the "people," again) TOTALLY TERRORIZED and intimidated by these putrid, scummy Jews--yet they refuse to admit it--specifically, that they are scared of these stinking kikes.  So most people thus fail to understand the Jews are topmost terrorists--these Jews did 9-11, don't forget."

Don't forget!  And don't worry, either.  It will be only a couple more decades before you hear things like this coming from the likes of Michelle Bachmann and Louie Gohmert on the floor of the U.S. Congress.  It's where they are headed, as fast as they can get there.  I promise you.

Sad to say, I could fill a whole column with that sort of thing every day. I only turn to it once in a great while, when I'm really feeling depressed about the direction the Republican party is heading. Believe me, things that would have seemed just as repugnant and out of bounds in the sixties are now heard coming out of Republican congress members' mouths every day.

I knew it was the Jew all along, why else would Romney be desperately trying to ally himself with them?
Green Eagle said…
Romney is not trying to ally himself with Jews. He has no concern for 1% of the voters who are mostly going to vote against him anyway.

What he is doing is pandering to right wing Christians, who hold the insane belief that the second coming cannot come until the dome of the rock is destroyed and replaced with a new Jewish temple, at which point all Jews will either convert to Christianity or be exterminated.
Green Eagle; On May 10th, you wrote "Mitt's Excellent Adventure at Bain Capital".
Have you seen the story coming out of LA Times, Boston Herald and Huff Post regarding the people who helped him launch Bain? Drug money, mass murderers, this were his partners. It seems the adventure is still even more disturbing as more is learned, and it has 35,000 corpses, drugs, torture, and of course those guys don't pay tax either.

No, I haven't seen that. I'll check it out right away. Thanks for the information.
correction; it was the other Boston paper, sorry it doesn't come to mind, Globe maybe.

One of the things that fascinates me about reading the garbage at Townhall and similar sites is trying to figure out which writers are "true believers" and which are cynically serving up red meat for the rubes. In some cases, perhaps it's not a simple "either/or," but rather a vague faith combined with heavy cynicism. (Coulter comes to mind.) Does Green Eagle have any thoughts on this?
Green Eagle said…
I sure do. (Surprised? No, I didn't think so. Green Eagle has an opinion on everything.)

One of my most basic beliefs is this: People do not believe lies because the lies are plausible; they believe them because it suits their interest to do so. Consequently, there is no one on earth that it is easier to lie to than yourself, because no one has more interest in believing your lies than you do.

Can you have any doubt that, for example, Hitler and Goebbels really had convinced themselves that they were building a better world?

As long as I have had my eyes on the right, I have wondered about the exact question you ask. And in the end, I think that, because Conservatives are so skilled at convincing themselves of anything that suits their immediate needs, and because they are so unapologetic a pack of liars, this question is almost meaningless. As soon as you have mastered the art of desensitizing yourself from feeling any guilt at using lies to advance your position (as all Conservatives have to do,) the issue of whether you "believe" what you are saying becomes unresolvable in any meaningful way.

Spot, sadly, on. I wish it were otherwise, truly I do. it would be wonderful to have a full on debate between the Ayn Rand Conservatives, the old Goldwater Conservatives, and Liberals like Al Franken, Bernie Sanders, and Sherrod Brown, for example. Instead we get crap from idiots like Corsi -- now he's saying Obama was married to a man before he married Michele, seriously. Or Bachmann and her stooges ranting on about the Muslim Brotherhood. Or Ryan and others trying to paint Rand as anything other than a selfish, hypocritical, cold-hearted bitch.

Repack Rider,

A reasonable question. I decided long ago that these sites are so filled with hatred and lies that I just felt too uncomfortable linking to them. They are all fairly major websites, which anyone can find with ease if they so desire, but not by clicking on a link at my blog.

When I cite a right wing blog in a separate post, I do always link to it, but I just don't provide a wholesale gateway to this world of racism, greed and hatred.

If you have any further thoughts about my policy, I'd be happy to hear them. I can't say I am a hundred percent sure of my reasoning, and though I have thought about it in the past, you are the first person to bring the issue up here.

Very entertaining. 'adding this blog to my favorites. And thanks for not providing links. I don't like boosting traffic to sites like those by clicking on a link by mistake.

But I couldn't resist checking out the What Would Che Think item. Wow.

I can just picture a bunch of those unaware, mouth breathing American stinkers gathered by torchlight around the legacy of Guevara chanting, "One of us! One of us! One of Us!"
