More Right Wing Terrorism- The Press Isn't Interested

We have heard a great deal of coverage of the lunatic who worked at a gay counseling center who went into the building housing the Family Research Center (a SLPC certified hate group) and SHOT A GUARD IN THE ARM!!!!!  Here's another story from the last few days that was of no interest to the mainstream press:

"Suspects in Louisiana deputy shootings tied to ‘sovereign citizen’ movement

Police say at least two of the seven suspects arrested for the fatal shooting of two Louisiana sheriffs deputies last Thursday are connected to the anti-government “sovereign citizen” movement.

According to WBRZ-TV, 28-year-old Kyle Joekel and 44-year-old Terry Smith had identified themselves as part of the movement, which was classified as a domestic terror group last year by the FBI.

Joekel and Smith, along with several members of Smith’s family and other associates, were arrested following an ambush on authorities in LaPlace, Louisiana, about 25 miles west of New Orleans. Deputies Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy Triche were killed in the ensuing shootout. Two more deputies were wounded."

I have written numerous posts about the Sovereign Citizens movement, although not for a while.  They lie on the political spectrum between Palin, Bachmann et. al. and the Aryan Supremacists.  Sovereign citizens movement adherents are also closely tied to the militia movement, and the malignantly racist Christian Identity doctrine.

I don't make any apologies for the jackass who shot the guard in the arm, but at least he definitely appears to be a lone actor; these people are part of a movement which exists around the country, and has committed numerous acts of violence, including at least six murders of police officers, previous to this double murder.

But of course, the right's screaming abuse has succeeded in largely silencing any serious treatment of this problem by the mainstream press, almost guaranteeing that it can grow in the dark, until dealing with it will be a really horrible problem.
