Well, I see that the press has uniformly described the group of soldiers that plotted to kill the President (see below) as an "anarchist militia."

I have been following the militia movement off and on since its inception in the eighties, and I must say, I have never heard of a "militia" that wasn't right wing.

So, I'm going to stick my neck out here, and in absence of any real information about this group, make the following prediction: the mainstream media, having collaborated with Republicans a couple of years ago to shout down the very idea that right wing terrorists could possibly be a threat, are going to do everything they can to disguise this group's real ideology, which, as with all militias, is hard right wing.

By the way, if it is any indication, it now appears that the leader of this "anarchist" militia attended the last Republican convention.

Militias are by definition right-wing because their reactionary in nature. They harkin back to a mythical era of American History in which the White Man wasn't kept down by the commies and marxists who empower government to steal the freedoms of Real Americans.

The get angry when General Custer is castigated as the genocidal murderer he was and when people deride the "peculiar institution" they so feverntly want re-established and when women get out of place and aren't chained down as baby factories.

Whether these… people… are Right or Left-wing has already been going around the comment streams under various reports… but we can resolve that right here:

Who in the context of US domestic politics advocates gun-based solutions and talks about ‘revolution‘ ? All them liberals who don’t like guns because they have the craziest idea that bullets are bad for your health?

You make not remember, but I recall having a discussion about the illegitimacies of gun-toting militias overthrowing the elected US government on this very blog with none other than your old troll Derek, who said something to the effect of

“you may call them thugs, but I call them patriots”

Okay Derek… well… THESE are your patriots. EXACTLY as described in our conversation, planning EXACTLY the thing you were talking up as noble and proper.

They shot a 17 year old girl in the head, Derek… tell us, please, lend us your wisdom…on how that gets to be the ‘patriotic’ thing to do.

By the way, not only are militas by definition right wing, but anarchists by definition don't form militias, or, for that matter, join the military.
