Like Republicans Say, Everyone Can Get Medical Care in America

Take this guy for example:

"James Richard Verone woke up June 9 with a sense of anticipation.
He took a shower.
Ironed his shirt.
Hailed a cab.

Then robbed a bank.

He wasn’t especially nervous. If anything, Verone said he was excited to finally execute his plan to gain access to free medical care.

Until last week Verone had never been in trouble with the law.

Now he hopes to be booked as a felon and held in prison where he can be treated for several physical afflictions."

See, just like the Republicans say, the medical care system in this country works just fine for everyone.  No need for a change.  Just get back to whatever you were watching on TV, and forget about it.  People a lot smarter and a lot richer than you are taking care of everything.

Not only robbing a bank, but stealing my retirement plan.

Great Green Bird,

You DO realize what the modern American conservative’s response to this would be, don’t you?

Clearly, they would say, the problem is in giving medical care to prison inmates.
Furthermore, they would reason, capital punishment should be introduced for lesser offences.... and never mind that the cost of a capital trial would feed, clothe, shelter and provide medical care for the individual for 40 years anyway.
If that last point becomes a problem... well, there’s always old fashioned lynching.

Yesterday I spent several hours at my local public hospital for some swelling associated with a contusion I sustained in an injury last week.
I saw two doctors, had ultrasound scans, X-rays and blood sample examination. I was then given a course of antibiotics and pain-killers, and some crutches. Aside from a cursory look at my ID I was asked no financial questions and had to pay not a cent. Not a rich man or someone otherwise deemed deserving, but simply a citizen.

My sister’s father-in-law is currently undergoing full hospitalisation and treatment for a brain tumour in the same hospital, and is not required to pay anything.

The criminals of politics and media in America who claim your country can’t afford to take care of your own people in the matter of proper health care – one of the great measures of a just and sophisticated society – make me sick.

Magpie, you are so right. That is exactly the answer to the massive problem of people robbing banks to get medical care. When are the American people going to finally realize that they just don't deserve to be healthy? Not unless they are in an economic category that allows them to pay for some Republican campaign commercials.

It won't be long when we see Republicans deny health care to all inmates, as additional punishment.

Buchenwald will become their model.
