The Evil Called Centrism

Joe Lieberman style.  Here's Joe last February:

"Sen. Joe Lieberman, the chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, agreed on “State of the Union” that the United States should have come out early with a stronger response. “I wish we had spoken out much more clearly and early against the Gadhafi regime,” the Connecticut Independent said. "

And here is Joe from 2009, after a very cordial visit he and John McCain had with Gaddafi:

"We never would have guessed ten years ago that we would be sitting in Tripoli, being welcomed by a son of Muammar al-Qadhafi," remarked Senator Lieberman. He stated that the situation demonstrated that change is possible and expressed appreciation that Libya had kept its promises to give up its WMD program and renounce terrorism...Lieberman called Libya an important ally in the war on terrorism, noting that common enemies sometimes make better friends."

And yet we will all go to our graves hearing over and over again from our noble pundits how self-serving, amoral jerks like Lieberman and McCain are the adults who must be allowed to run the country.  There is no middle in the United States any more.  There cannot ever be a "middle ground" between reality and the malignant, racist, greed maddened fantasy which is Republican doctrine today.  That supposed center is solely occupied by a few narcissistic goons like Lieberman and McCain, who care not one damned about the welfare of this country, and the members of the mainstream press who spend their lives trying to fool us into thinking that these people are men of principle.

Yeah, Lieberman and McCain are centrists all right. Just like all the other corporatist neocons.

"Bomb, bomb Iran"...right in the center.
