Wingnut Wrapup

I know I more or less promised to cool it with the wingnuts, but they have reached such a climax of screeching lies lately, due to the simultaneous unraveling of Trump, Jeff Sessions and their poster boy, Roy Moore, that they are really on a tear these days.  I can't even begin to get to it all.  The following is too much for a sane society, but I am really only scratching the surface here.

Angry Patriot:  "Clinton Foundation Taxes Reveal Just How Little They Give To Charity"

The Clinton Foundation is a charity, dumbass.

"In its IRS filings, the Clinton Foundation paid out over $91 million, but only roughly $5 million of that actually went to charitable grants!"

The Clinton Foudation runs its own programs.  It doesn't pay other groups to do its work, except where it cannot provide the services; thus the $5 million paid to others.  Anyone with even the most superficial knowledge of the Clinton foundation knows this, including, I am sure, the anonymous writer of this smear.

Angry Patriot:  "JUST IN: Hillary Just Got Bad News From DOJ"

Ooh, that's scary:

"We have our hopes up that (new FBI director Christopher) Wray is going to see through any deception on Mueller’s part and see through this nonsensical investigation as smoothly as possible. Once that situation is out of the way, he can proceed to take them down once and for all. We suspect that when Clinton falls, the Democratic Party is going to fall behind her."

In other words, she didn't get bad news from the DOJ; they've got nothing.  They hope that their hateful wet dreams come true, but they do not have a shred of evidence that they will.  That's the "bad news" for Hillary: right wingers hate her.  Somehow, I think she didn't need any news from the DOJ to figure that out.


Angry Patriot, and its anonymous smear merchants, are new to me.  Let me just leave you with this incisive historical analysis from them:

There's lots more like this, but readers of Wingnut Wrapup have heard it all before.  No lie too big, no lie too small, and never will they take a shred of responsibility for the horrors that the right inevitably causes. 


And of all the reactions to the (inevitable) revelation that Alabama Republican (and Christian saint) Roy Moore is a pervert, it's going to be hard to top this one from Republican Representative Ed Henry of Hartselle, Alabama:

“If they believe this man is predatory, they are guilty of allowing him to exist for 40 years. I think someone should prosecute and go after them. You can’t be a victim 40 years later, in my opinion,”

A fourteen year old girl molested by a 32 year old Republican assistant district attorney...She is the guilty party who belongs in jail.  Of course.  Because Republican.

Steve Bannon:  "[Trump] is the least racist guy I’ve ever met."

Knowing, who you hang out with, Steve, I expect you are telling the truth, for once.

The Federalist:  "Media Covered Up Sexual Assault To Score Points For The Left"

So we can ignore anything that turns up about Roy Moore, or Donald Trump, for that matter.  The evidence of the coverup?

"The Lion of the Senate," presumably being long dead Senator Teddy Kennedy, who was involved in the tragic traffic death of a girl 49 years ago, and which, whatever the circumstances, had nothing to do with sexual assault, and Bill Clinton, who had a consensual sexual relationship with an adult woman.  The press, egged on by Republican smear merchants, never let the Kennedy story die, and Clinton's affair became the centerpiece of the biggest news orgy in the history of the country.  Some coverup. 

And most importantly, please remember that the Federalist society, which is behind this smear and many others, is the organization that Donald Trump turns to for recommendations for whom to appoint to lifetime Federal judge positions.

294!!!  Indictments!!!1!!!1!!!!  Pedophiles!!!    Believe that?  You really are a sucker.  Funny, not a single news source except Your News Wire, and White Supremacists and holocaust denier Hal Turner.  But just wait!  More to come, I guarantee you.  Right wingers in the year 2070 (if anyone is still alive) will still be hearing about this story, during recesses in the latest Benghazi hearings.

The truth:  The VA routinely receives the highest quality ratings from its patients of any health provider in the country.  The one thing it is criticized for is wait times, which are one hundred percent the result of Republican funding cuts.  Of course, that's the Democrats' fault somehow, and serves as one more proof that the government fails at everything it does- if it's left to the Republicans.

The stupid crackers in rural areas stabbed themselves in the back again by doing away with the clinics that serve them.  But see, we all know that this whole story is code language for "Planned Parenthood only serves black people, so let's crush it."

Guy means, "Next Question:  How do we shout them down with more lies about Hillary?"

He didn't lie big enough.  What kind of Republican is he, anyway?

I only bring this up to harangue you about one of my major pet peeves:  A person is PRESUMED innocent IN THE EYES OF THE LAW until found guilty.  That does not mean that they are innocent.  If they committed the crime, they are guilty, regardless of the outcome of any trial, or regardless of whether there is a trial at all.  We all know, for example, that O. J. killed his wife, no matter what was the outcome of his botched trial, and we all (if we are honest) know that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are war criminals who murdered a million people without a shred of justification, even though no one had the honesty and courage to hold them responsible.  Anyway, end of rant, and back to our regularly scheduled rant:

A reboot.  Well, he is already giving the dollar a boot, after it soared against the Euro under Obama (something that Peter forgot to mention.)  But it's all part of the seventy-eleven million dimension chess that Trump, the smartest man on earth, is so famous for.  So, Peter, you keep telling yourself that it's all part of the great cosmic plan.  Me, I'm checking out to listen to some Howling Wolf.

Epic!  This is what passes for good news for Republicans these days.  Unless they are really happy to see their President kissing Vladimir Putin's ass, which a lot of them seem to be.

And if it is in a chart, it must be true, right?  Congressman Louie Gohmert once again demonstrates why he is the most insane person in Washington:

Bryan Fischer, Renew America:  "According to Jesus, not one valid accusation against Moore"

And this is a man who spends his whole life claiming to speak for God.  The sheer gall of it all is breathtaking.  And by the way, I don't think we need Jesus' opinion to know that it is wrong for a grown man to molest a 14 year old girl.  Call me crazy, but I think decent people can figure that out by themselves.  Here is Bryan's claim, in somewhat more detail:

"When it comes to sin, and suspicions of sin, the Master was quite clear. "Every charge," he said, every accusation of wrongdoing, must be "established by the evidence of two or three witnesses" (Matthew 18:16). In other words, if there is just one witness, that accusation cannot be considered a valid accusation, cannot be considered a fact..."

Of course, since most rapists do not invite people along to watch, that would pretty much put an end to all rape prosecutions, but is that what Jesus said?  No, it is not.  Here is the relevant passage of Matthew, from the New International Bible:

"15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector."

Jesus was saying not one damned thing about witnesses to the act, but merely about confronting the malefactor with multiple people to inform them that their behavior is unacceptable.  Well, so far, we have had several million people state that Roy Moore's behavior is repugnant.  Like all of these right wing Christians, getting their way even justifies mangling the word of their infallible God.  That's how much they really believe in the sanctity of Christianity when it stands in the way of their real religion, tax cuts. 

And how about some more from Renew America, which mangles the very concept of the word "dishonest:"

A character driven Christian conservative who is fine with raping children; a "defender of our Constitution" who was twice kicked off of the Alabama Supreme Court for refusing to follow that Constitution.  It's a dirty leftist trick to point that out: the dirtiest leftist trick of all; telling the truth.

Reverend Austin Miles, Renew America:  "Dems responsible for Texas church murders...communists and the Democratic Party are one and the same. We have Communists in virtually every area of the government of The United States. It strains credulity as to how they were able to get into those positions. I think that is all I have to say about the Reverend Austin Miles today.

Well, leaving aside the fact that the "Trump Dossier" has so far proven to be true at every point that it could be tested, the reason I brought this up is to point out a common tactic of right wing smear merchants- to use Pavlovian techniques to cause certain words alone, shorn of any meaning, to stimulate rage in their followers: e-mails, Benghazi, swift boat, all re-purposed to drive wingnuts into a state of sputtering fury, even when they cannot speak two coherent sentences about what crimes these words are supposed to denote.  And now the use of this term, "dossier," to suggest that any reporting on the left is a partisan hit job, no matter how carefully researched.  We are up against a mindless vomiting forth of sourceless rage, which knows no truth, no bounds and no decency.  There is absolutely no way to meaningfully combat this by normal methods.  It would serve all of us well to consider what other means might be available to put this monster back in its cave.

Enough's enough.  Believe me, this sort of thing goes on and on; the wingnuts are really on a spasm of lies and smears these days, to try to shut up what is, at this point, the obvious disgusting corruption of everyone in their world.  Too bad we have to pay attention to this, but we do.
