Powell and Chesebro- Don't Get Too Excited- Updated 10-24

So many people are certain that the plea deals from these two crooked operatives represent a decisive step in the government's ability to prove Trump's clearly massive guilt in court.

Don't be so certain.  I can't swear that the following is what is happening, but based on our now long and dreadful experience of Trump's behavior, I think it is all too likely.

First of all, I do not believe that the willingness of these two monumental toadies to destroy themselves for Trump is at an end.  His ability to get others to wreck their lives for the most minor advantage to himself is legendary, if incomprehensible to normal people, and never more so than with these two.

Second, remember that Trump's game here is apparently not to win his cases, but to delay his trials until after the 2024 election, when he is confident that he can corrupt the process enough to return himself to the White House, and then use any means, legal or not, to crush the prosecutions.

Well, what I think is likely is that, whatever these two suckers have stipulated to, in order to get their plea bargains, when the trial actually begins, they will utterly repudiate their agreements and revert to a total denial that Trump did a thing wrong.  This will, of course, land them in a huge legal mess, but it will also initiate a process in which the courts will have to do away with their plea bargains, put them back on trial, and essentially reset the trial schedule by months, to resolve the issue, before the case against Trump can continue.  With initial court procedings now set for March, this alone could run out the clock, and allow him to run for re-election without being found guilty for his crimes.

Anyway, that is what I fear is really happening, and I challenge anyone with the slightest knowledge of Trump's behavior for decades to tell me they can't see this happening.  This would leave Powell and Chesebro on the dust heap of history, along with Rudy, Bill Barr and so many others, but what would Trump care about that?

Update:  And here we go.  From Business Insider:

"On her social media accounts, Powell has continued to push claims that the 2020 election was rigged and that prosecutors in Georgia who brought the criminal case against her are politically motivated. The newsletter published by her dark money group has shared articles arguing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis "extorted" her guilty plea."

That didn't take long, did it?  There's no form of cheating and gaming the system that is too low for them, and nothing they won't do to save their perverted god.
