Still Weighing

A chryon I just saw on MSNBC:  "Judges still weighing Trump immunity claim."

Still weighing?  Still weighing what?  The claim that, unlike anyone else on earth,  Donald Trump has the right to commit any crime he wants?  How long does any judge have to "weigh" that claim before responding that he is full of bullshit, and malicious, criminal bullshit at that?

I am not a lawyer, but I am not totally brain dead either, and I think I can figure out in about two seconds that it is not part of our legal system that one person is allowed to ride roughshod over the laws of this country and do whatever the hell he wants, no matter how it damages others.  And no amount of legalese can hide this basic fact.  This is obviously what the whole issue is all about: are some corrupt judges going to take their chance to license a would-be dictator to smash the legal structure of our whole country?

I just don't see how any halfway decent person can have the slightest doubt about this.  Trump is asking openly to be allowed to go on a lawless rampage like this country has never seen, and apparently some judges are "weighing" whether that is okay?  What the hell has gone wrong with this country, where the normal course of our legal system for two and a half centuries can be measured against the "right" of a mentally defective bully to smash anything that gets in his way? Where legal decorum becomes an excuse to avert judges' gaze from what is openly going on here?  How in the name of all that is holy can there be anything to "weigh" about this issue?

They're probably "weighing" their options on how to find narrowly for TFG without leaving a precedent for anyone else. Or at least any other Democrat.

Those "Weighing" have very likely been bought and paid for. The corruption of even some in the Supreme Court is exposed and those who would "Weigh" such things are very likely part of the Problem and not part of the Solution. If someone is engaged in their own Criminal Behaviors, it's unlikely they will "Judge" another, and skewing The System in favor of Criminality benefits them too. I'm Retired from a very large DA's Office, yet, my Faith in The System as it's currently devolving is not what it used to be. Society has devolved and the fact someone like Thing 45 can even have a loyal Cult Following is mind blowing to me. It makes me question the segment of Society who get caught up with someone that unhinged and are Sold Out completely on keeping him in Power, or trying to.

Bohemian, I agree with you completely. I have said for the last few years that people are very mistaken when they talk about liberal judges versus conservative judges. What we actually have here is a struggle between honest judges and corrupt judges. In almost 100% of cases, judges appointed by Democrats are sound lawyers with a reasonable commitment to the rule of law; Republicans, at least since Nixon, have struggled at every turn to pack the judiciary with corrupt judges committed to bending the will of the government in the direction dictated by the sociopathic billionaires who are, in fact, their only real constituency. Thus we get decisions like Citizens United or District of Columbia v. Heller, which are legally and historically absurd, but serve the interests of the hyper rich.
