Ramasawamy

I still looks back in disbelief that the voters of the United States twice elected a guy with the middle name of  Hussein to the Presidency, but I want to predict with absolute certainty that this country will never have a President named Ramaswamy.  Really, nobody is going to spend four years listening to someone clearly named after a bit character in a Jonny Quest episode.

I've been puzzling over Ramasawamy's choice of party. What was he thinking? Some large proportion of Republicans are overt racist bigots with a profound hatred for anyone who doesn't at least pretend they're Christian. So he can happy talk how his Hindu family values align with Christian values until he runs out of money but running out of money will all he accomplishes because the vast majority of Republicans will never vote for a Hindu. Idiot.

Sorry to take so long replying, Kwark. One thing we have learned about tech bro billionaires is that they are just not very introspective. They think they know everything and that nothing could escape their notice. They never believe they could make a wrong move. In so many cases, they are just utterly ignorant of the realities of life (the perfect example, the electric car guy and his internet toy.) I don't think it ever occurred to Ramaswamy that anything he does could go wrong.

Hamas

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
