Forget It. They Aren't Done Yet

So, today's Supreme Court decision tossing the Texas lawsuit into the garbage probably indicates that no further Trump legal actions has a chance of going anywhere, not that this will stop them from still throwing a bunch more Krakens at the country.  However, don't fool yourself that Trump, the 127 members of the House, the 69% of all of the Republican State Attorneys General and the (seemingly) tens of millions of brain dead Trump supporters who support his coup attempt are done yet.  Not on your life.

Next will come several days of open threats to the electors chosen by the States, and a continuation of Republican efforts to bully or extort Republican State legislators to overthrow the popular election and place the would-be dictator back in the White House.  Then, after the electors meet in a few days, there will be an intense campaign throughout the holidays to get Republicans in Congress to use their power to object to their States' electors, which can potentially drag things out for more days, while Trump tries as hard as he can to stir up violence, as a pretext to declare martial law.  When that act of treason is finally put down, say by January 12th or so, we can await Trump's attempt to declare martial law without any pretext.  And what happens then will be a real experience to live through.

I'm not a soothsayer, but I do believe this could very well be what we are in for in the next 40 days.  Well, why should he go out any differently than he has acted his whole life?

I hope you're wrong too but we're talking bat-shit crazy humans so chances are good that it will happen.

Hope for the best, expect the worst.

The Republican Party has long been the greatest domestic threat to our democratic republic.

Now Trump has led them further than ever into fascism and open sedition.

He will go, but not quietly. I expect more stochastic terrorism before he's done. He has a lot of unstable, angry, and rabid followers.

I'm afraid a lot of people are going to be hurt or killed by them. Only when Trump is indicted and convicted of crimes will his defeat be final. Or if he scampers off to Moscow. After all, he did say he would leave the country if Biden won.

Sadly his cult of deranged, authoritarian, white nationalists will still infect our country with their hate and ignorance.

The Republican coup will also continue by other means.

40 days left? Surely the number of days is an undercount.
Trump will no doubt demand a recount.
And if that fails, he will have no choice but to file an appeal to Judge Judy.
