Wingnut Wrapup

I have to say, I've had real trouble with this edition of Wingnut Wrapup.  I just haven't found the jackass behavior of right wingers to be that funny lately, and if I reduce this to nothing but rants about how vicious these guys are, it won't be much fun to read, let alone write.  Anyway, as Mario would say, here we go:

Jeff Jacoby, Town Hall:  "No, 2014 Wasn't the "Warmest Year In History"

Fie on those damned "scientists" with their "facts."  The average real American patriot knows better!  It sonwed in Boston!  In January!

Star Parker, Town Hall:  "Freedom is Best Way to Help Low-Income Students"

Freedom!!!  As opposed to adequate funding for public schools, which does nothing at all.  Freedom will teach them everything they need to know.  How?  Who the hell knows...which just proves how poor our educational system is, I guess.

John Ransom, Town Hall:  "Liberals Were Wrong and We Were Right—Again"

In your fantasy land, John.  This guy is making the ludicruous claim that cutting unemployment benefits created 1.8 million jobs.  Hey, John, I thought the government couldn't create jobs, only the Job Creators.

Rich Galen, Town Hall:  "The decision by Gov. Mitt Romney to drop out of the nominating process for President about three weeks after he had surprised most of the Washington-based punditry by appearing to be serious about getting into the race."

He was serious about it, Rich.  It's just that no one else was- at least no one else with the few hundred million spare dollars necessary to finance Mitt's next planned exercise in grotesque ego gratification.

And more Mitt:

Andrew Klavan, PJ Media:  "Mitt for President...Anyone who doesn't want the job deserves our support."

He doesn't want it?  Who do you think you're kidding? Nobody ever wanted it more, Andrew.  It's just that no one else wanted him to be President.  A guy who really doesn't want to be President doesn't run three times and spend a huge amount of money in the process.  Do you really not understand that?

Daniel J. Mitchell, Town Hall:  "Daniel J. Mitchell: Bringing Growth to the Developing World: The Role of Tax Havens and the Size of Government"

You've got to laugh.  The answer to bringing growth to poor countries: allowing rich Americans to hide more of their money there.  No matter what the problem is, the answer is to make rich people richer.

Bill S, Red State:  "I’m done with the Super Bowl. The leftists have won."

Fine.  Whatever.  Watch the puppy bowl instead.

Moe Lane, Red State:  "The White House and their false claims of deficit busting, in one handy picture."

I wom't bother with the picture, but the gist of this is that the claim that Obama has lopped two thirds off the Federal budget deficit is false.  Unfortunately, it's true, so guys like Moe just have to tell more lies about it.

Avner Zami, PJ Media:  "Scott Walker Takes Next Step: How Might He Govern as President?"

Don't ask me, ask the Koch brothers, since everything he does is what they tell him to do.

Rand Paul, Republican Presidential Hopeful:  "I have heard of many tragic cases of walking, talking normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines."

I guess you are a case in point, Rand.  It would be just great to have this guy for President, right?  Here's another bit from Rand:

“The state doesn’t own your children,” Paul said in an interview with CNBC’s “Closing Bell.” “Parents own the children"

And here I never knew that I owned my children.  I mean, they are grown now, but can I still sell them?  Believe me, if you're interested, you won't have to pay retail- they're used.

I saw a quote from the normally totally astute Digby today:

"By failing to vaccinate, parents aren't just endangering their own kids they're endangering other people's kids. Even libertarians should have to take a big breath before they claim that's ok ..."

Well, Digby, you were wrong about that.  Once again, the greatest liberal failing is to underestimate the will of Conservatives to do anything that benefits themselves, regardless of their claimed beliefs, the damage it might do to others, or anything else.

John De Nugent, Blindlight:

"Yes, Hitler and the Germans were right, some Slavs (Russians, Poles, Ukrainians, etc.) do lie, steal and get drunk."

Well, now I understand why he had to exterminate 20 million of them.  They get drunk!  This changes my whole attitude about Hitler, because it's obviously okay to kill someone who is drunk.  But wait, there's more:

"...this always happens when morality is destroyed by the Jews"

Because everybody knows that no one ever got drunk unless Jews made them do it.  Mr. DeNugent is a new one to me, but I'll keep an eye on him, as I am sure he will provide us with more innocent entertainment in the future.

Kevin Barrett, Veterans Today:  "Is it (a) coincidence that the Twin Towers themselves formed a gigantic number eleven?"

Well, is it?  I mean really, IS IT?!!?!?!??  Actually, I think it would have been a whole lot weirder if they had formed a gigantic number 395.  Or just about any other number than 11, because any two skyscrapers form a gigantic number 11, when you think about it.

Newsmax:  "Unlike Barack Obama, Jordan's King Abdullah Shows Strong Leadership...Jordan's execution of two Iraqi jihadists as revenge for ISIS burning alive a 26-year-old Jordanian pilot shows how seriously King Abdullah takes the militant threat"

Because the right wingers would cheer for Obama if he unilaterally pulled a couple of prisoners out of jail and had them executed.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Obama to Give Tax Refunds to Illegal Aliens"

Because we owe them the money, but who cares if we can steal it, right?

And here is perhaps a new high in deliberately misunderstanding the facts about vaccines:

World Net Daily EXCLUSIVE:  "MEASLES VACCINES KILL MORE THAN MEASLES"

This is, of course, because measles vaccine has just about totally eliminated measles and thus the risk of death from measles is nearly zero.  Of course, before the measles vaccine came along, hundreds of times more people died from measles than do today, but I guess that has nothing to do with measles vaccination.  Dishonesty almost beyond comprehension, particularly when you try to think of why these people might want to bring back a virtually eliminated disease just to score some kind of sick political point.

Curtis Ellis, World Net Daily:  "While D.C. sleeps, China plans to replace America"

With a cheap knockoff that looks just the same but is covered in lead paint.

Eric Bolling, Fox News:   "And yet, and yet when you take Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, whatever, their combined killings in the name of religion -- well that number would be zero."

I won't take up the monumental assholery of this comment, but I do want to point out that these people, who insist on the inerrancy of the bible when it comes to the age of the earth or some obscure passage about gay people, forget all the times that God ordered the Jewish people to wipe out other tribes in Israel.  I guess only the parts they care about actually represent the truth.

Townhall:  "Capitol Source: "Abortion-centered Feminism is Dead"

Capitol source.  That would be Marjorie Dannenfelser, head of a right wing anti-abortion group.  Take her opinion for what it's worth.  (Hint: that would be zero.)

Joseph Farah, World Net Daily:  "Did Obama deliver ultimate insult to Christianity?"

The truth.  He told the truth. The ultimate insult to Christianity.  Or just about any other religion.  Thanks for clearing that up, Joseph.

Conn Carol, Town Hall:  "White House Says Climate Change Is A Bigger Threat To National Security Than Terrorism"

No shit, Sherlock.

Hugh Hewitt, Town Hall:  "Rubio and Bolton Poised To Enter The GOP Field As National Security Hawks"

Ha.  Ha, ha, ha.  John Bolton.  National security hawk.  You go guy- the clown car still has room for one more.

Frank Dowse, Town Hall:  "To Not Arm Ukraine Is A Choice We Cannot Afford"

We can't afford to let this chance to start World War III slip through our fingers.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Did the White House Know Where ISIS Hostages Were Being Held for Months?"

The Next Benghazi?  If they can pull it off.  Don't think you've heard the last of this one.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "With Williams Suspended, The World Awaits The Return Of 'Real News'

Do I even need to mention that Williams, liar that he apparently is, lied only about his own experiences in Iraq, not about the actual news stories he was reporting, as Fox news "reporters" do every single day of the year?

Brian Fischer, Renew America:  "The battle of the ages: passing Cruz's federal marriage amendment"

The battle of the ages?  I guess Brian forgot about World War II.

And every once in a while I run into a headline that is so incoherent that I think it must have been ghost written by Sarah Palin:

Curtis Dahlgren, Renew America:  "Evolution: The Thalidomide of social silver bullets"

Huh?

Dr. Bart Classen, Journal of Molecular and Genetic Medicine:  "The best data indicates that vaccine-induced chronic disease is now of a magnitude that dwarfs almost all prior poisoning of humans, including poisoning from agents like asbestos, low dose radiation, lead, and even cigarettes,"

Man, they never give up on a lie.  And the  Journal of Molecular and Genetic Medicine-  man, you would never expect to see them here at Wingnut Wrapup.  Anyway, Classen makes a living off of his anti-vaccine lies.  His so-called research has been demolished by other real scientists, as you would expect.  In the article, of course, Classen refers without qualification to Dr. Andrew Wakefield, the king of fake vaccine-autism claims, whose "research" was revealed to be completely phony, resulting in his having his medical license revoked in England, where he is from.  Well, Journal guys, you owe your readers and their patients more than this.

And now, let's not let any chance to invent a lie go to waste- Brian Williams memorial edition:

Breitbart:  "EXCLUSIVE: PRIEBUS TO WASSERMAN SCHULTZ – IS HILLARY MISSING DUE TO SUSPENSION OVER STOLEN VALOR LIE? In a letter to Democrat National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus asks if Hillary Clinton’s mysterious disappearance from the national stage is due to her being “suspended” by the DNC for repeatedly lying about coming under sniper fire in Bosnia."

No evidence that she was lying, of course.  But while the nation is absorbed with an offense by a reporter, why not invent an accusation against Hillary and get some real mileage out of it.  Notice the way this is framed- just as a question, so they can say later, if they are called on it, that they never accused her of it, just asked if she did it. I mean, did she?  Who knows?  Standard right wing smear tactics, of course, but just a minuscule taste of what is going to happen in the next Presidential election.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "The Assassination of Scott Walker By The Coward Liberal Media"

Ha.  Matt, how about an article on the assassination of the middle class by Scott Walker, or more precisely, the assassination of the middle class by the Koch brothers, with their mindless stooge Scott Walker doing as much of their dirty work as he can?

Erick Erickson, Town Hall:  "Erick Erickson: Substituted Morality...The United States Supreme Court will, by June, plunge the nation back into the throws of culture war."

The "throws" of the culture war.  And CNN decided that this ignorant jackass would be a good hire to comment on the news.  Our liberal media.  Shows what happens when you count on spell check to substitute for actually having an education.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Kansas Secretary of State: Illegal Aliens Registering to Vote is a Massive Problem Nationwide..."The problem of aliens registering to vote is a massive one, nationwide. And I have seen it firsthand in Kansas. Because there is no way of scanning a state's voter rolls and identifying which of the registered voters are aliens, determining the exact number of aliens on the voter rolls in virtually impossible."

Even pointing a single one out is apparently impossible too.  This jackass, Kris Kobach, one of the most strident liars about about the supposed existence of voter fraud, was just rebuked by a committee from his own State that reported that not a single case of voter fraud could be found.  So now he throws in the illegal alien bugaboo, and moves right ahead with his lying.  I repeat, he cannot point to a single example of an illegal alien casting a vote, but, being a hard core Conservative, that won't stop him, will it?

David Harsanyi, Town Hall:  "Obama Is a Good BS'er, but He's a Terrible Liar"

That's because he doesn't get the kind of daily practice at it that you Republicans do.

Mark Nuckols, Town Hall:  "Why We Can't Trust Vladimir Putin...Vladimir Putin is a gangster at the head of a criminal state."

Funny, just six months ago or so you guys thought he was the greatest thing ever.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "1500 Men Lock Arms protecting their place of worship against Hundreds of Feminists Burning Bibles"

Man, that must have been quite a sight.  This supposedly happened in Argentina.  In Texas, for example, they would have locked and loaded, and then taught those feminists a real lesson.

Ed Lasky, American Thinker:  "we have a fool as president -- a man who has disgraced the office of the presidency"

Another example of the deliberate projection Republicans have been engaged in for the last six years to try to erase the memory of the most disgraceful fool the White House has ever seen- their very own George W. Bush.  Somehow, they still think that making these absurd, idiotic claims against Obama, they are going to make us forget the real Worst President Ever.  That's their story and they are sticking to it.  We, on the other hand, will just stick to the truth.

Enough.  That's all I can take.

"Did the White House Know Where ISIS Hostages Were Being Held for Months?"

Right wing dumbfuckness.

Yes actually the White House knew EXACTLY where they were….
Somewhere in the vicinity of Syria and Iraq! I mean what more info do you need?

The greatest intelligence networks the world has ever known couldn’t find Bin Laden - the world’s most wanted man - for more many years including more than a decade after he committed 9/11, Pablo Escobar evaded capture for years, there are people gone missing IN AMERICA that can’t be found but, really, it’s just so easy to find a kidnap victim in a terrorist infested warzone and then do something before they are moved within a few hours.

'nearly' a decade, I meant

And let us not forget the case of Eric Robert Rudolf (this one may be a little obscure for you in Australia, Magpie.) Rudolf was the Atlanta Olympics bomber, as well as an abortion clinic bomber, and the source of threats against a number of public officials. It took the government five years to catch him, largely because right wingers in the South kept sheltering him and giving him aid. Here's a mass murderer, right here in the US, where the police could search anywhere, and it took them five years to get him.

The task of finding two or three people in a foreign country filled with thousands of murderous, violent people who hate the US (actually, not that different from parts of this country any more) is magnitudes more difficult. And that doesn't even get to the issue of what to do when we find exactly where they are.

But when Obama frustrates the right by his continued refusal to get involved in any real scandals, they have to make them up, and this is just one of hundreds of such attempts.

As I was saying to a friend, there is a little word that gets Republicans even more excited than ‘freedom’ and that word is ‘impeach’.

Part of the calls for boots on the ground everywhere is that so, on the way in, they can bitch and moan about foot dragging and indecisiveness and then if he actually went in and Americans died (an outcome for which they lust greatly) they could bitch and moan that he shouldn’t have done it.

I had heard of Rudolf, but I had also forgotten till you mentioned him.
I guess that is what we all are meant to do.
