Things We Forgot to Worry About

Image
From some jackass website called Prison Planet: "Bilderberg Fears Losing Control in Chaos-Plagued World" This article features the following picture: Well, I guess that proves it, then.

Milhous

Here's a headline today at HumanEvents: "Richard Milhous Pelosi by Jed Babbin" I find it slightly amusing that the biggest insult Conservatives can think of is to compare Democrats to one of their own. Not that I don't agree that it is a real insult, but still.....

A Short History Lesson

Image
Do you recognize this man? His name is Mohammed Mossadeq. He was the popularly elected leader of Iran. Here are a couple of quotes from Wikipedia about him: "From an aristocratic background, Mosaddeq was an author, administrator, lawyer, prominent parliamentarian, and statesman, famous for his passionate opposition to foreign intervention in Iran. He is most famous as the architect of the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry.... Mosaddeq was removed from power in a 19 August 1953 coup supported and funded by the British and U.S. governments...." The result of that coup? Decades of vicious, repressive rule by an abominable dictator who called himself the Shah, followed by further decades of rule by intolerant religious fanatics who were the only ones who could muster enough power to overthrow the Shah. This is what the United States gave the Iranian people in place of their democratically elected government- and all to protect the stranglehold of oil companies on Ira...

Brownshirts

Image
From Red State , this lovely specimen of logic: " Meet the New Brownshirts " "Bruce Marks doesn’t bother being diplomatic. A campaigner on behalf of homeowners facing foreclosure, he was on the phone one day in March to a loan executive at Bank of America Corp. “I’m tired of borrowers being screwed!” Mr. Marks yelled into the phone. “You’re incompetent!” Before hanging up, he threatened to call bank CEO Kenneth Lewis at home to complain about the loan executive." Just in case you have forgotten who the real Brownshirts were, here is a picture of some of them: So, I guess this is where we are today. Complaining to a bank and threatening to call their CEO is exactly equivalent to Adolf Hitler mobilizing several hundred thousand uniformed thugs to attack his political opponents. That makes sense, right? Continuing with this incisive commentary: "The goal of this sort of thing, of course, is to thoroughly politicize business decisions from top to bottom of the ...

It's Only Fair to Bash your Court Picks...

Boy, the Washington Post is hot today. And by hot, of course I mean stupid. Ed Gillespie, in a WAPO "opinion" piece: "As President Obama decides on a Supreme Court nominee to replace Justice David Souter, Senate Republicans must decide whether they will abide by the standard they used in confirming Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer during Bill Clinton's first term, or the standard set by Democrats in the confirmations of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito during George W. Bush's second term." Ed, I am going to try to explain something here, so listen closely. Ginsburg and Breyer were well-respected, fair and qualified jurists. Roberts and Alito are lying right wing hatchet men who did everything they could to hide their real agenda from the Senate. You get the difference there? Can you see why it might not be inconsistent to support Ginsburg and Breyer, yet object to Bush's two miserable right wing con men? When Repub...

Advice from the Fat Man

El Rushbo, at it again: "LIMBAUGH: How in the hell can you say that Dick Cheney is worse for the Republican Party than Colin Powell?" How can someone say that, Rush? Actually, it's really easy. Try it, you'll see. But, you go with your attitude, Rush. Cheney-good, Powell-bad. It's the best thing you could do for the country. Other than exploding. On another topic, I have been thinking that Fox News should give Rush a show opposite Chris Matthews' Hardball. They could call it Lardball.

WAPO Strikes Again

Michale Gerson, one more Washington Post writer who seems to be dedicated to obscuring the truth at any cost: "In a little over 100 days, the Obama administration and the Democratic Congress have delivered a series of blows to the pride and morale of the Central Intelligence Agency." Are you kidding us, Michael? What does the CIA have to be proud of? Its fifty year history of being wrong about everything important? Its willingness to serve as the tool of whoever is the farthest right on any issue? Here's my advice to the CIA: When you do a good job, then you will have something to be proud of. And, while we are on the subject, Michael, where were you when Bush and Cheney were blaming the CIA for all of the Bush Administration's own misbegotten actions and self-generated lies? Do you think that hurt CIA pride, to have the President of the United States blaming them for his own failures? Why didn't we hear from you then? A few years ago, I worked in the Was...
