Democrats in Disarray, Biden Version
And here we go, the worst criminal to ever occupy high office in our nation's history has barely been indicted yet for a fraction of his known crimes, and already the mainstream press is working out the narrative they will push to absolve Republicans of any responsibility for their corruption, while fabricating a fictitious story somehow blaming the stress this causes to the nation on Democrats. I haven't driven myself crazy by reading That Newspaper in years, but here is the sort of miserable "reporting" on the issue that has already worked its way into the Washington Post:
"The month before he was sworn into office, President Biden vowed to keep a significant distance between himself and any actions the Justice Department might take under his watch.
“I’m not going to be telling them what they have to do and don’t have to do,” he said in a CNN interview in December 2020. “I’m not going to be saying, ‘Go prosecute A, B or C.’ I’m not going to be telling them. That’s not the role. It’s not my Justice Department, it’s the people’s Justice Department.”
The comments encapsulated a core aspect of Biden’s run for office: his promise to restore confidence in American institutions after the chaotic tenure of President Donald Trump, who often showed little compunction about employing the levers of government for his own ends.
That notion — the ironclad separation of law and politics — will now be tested like rarely before in American history."
As it was not tested during Trump's abominable reign, at least not by organizations like the Washington Post, that seemed to be quite willing to give him a pass for behavior infinitely beyond anything that Joe Biden would ever get up to.
And let's be clear here: we all know that Donald Trump has committed espionage at the very least- he's openly admitted it. Espionage- one of the worst crimes a person can commit, on a level with such civilian crimes as murder and child molestation- but the real question is, how this is going to hurt Joe Biden, because all the Washington Post, along with most of the rest of the mainstream media cares about is hurting Biden, not whether a traitor worms his way back into the White House. Because being convicted of sexual assault is not enough to disqualify a Republican from being President, and apparently neither is open betrayal of our country's security.
"Trump, who is Biden’s predecessor and also his leading 2024 opponent, has now been indicted and charged with crimes that Biden’s own Justice Department is prosecuting."
And who else could prosecute federal crimes? Or is the idea that, "If a President does it, it is not illegal?" A Republican President, apparently, because it is apparently a crime for Biden to even speak out in favor of enforcing the law.
"Anything the president says that is critical of Trump will probably be seized upon by Republicans as evidence that he is trying to influence the legal case. Any appearance he makes with his own attorney general, Merrick Garland, will face intense scrutiny and could fuel further attacks."
And that is why Biden is not allowed, according to the Washington Post, to speak the truth, or else the Washington Post will see to it that he will face "intense scrutiny," i.e. a blizzard of lies and smears, if he does dare to speak the truth. Trump, meanwhile, is free to spread the most disgusting falsehoods about Biden, Hillary, Obama, Alvin Bragg, Jack Smith, Fani Willis and anyone else who dares to speak out about his criminality.
“President Biden has to keep a moat between himself and the Justice Department,” said Douglas Brinkley, an author and presidential historian. “You definitely don’t want to see Biden and Merrick Garland whisper together. They barely can be seen at a public event together now. They certainly can’t be in huddle mode. That’s a strange scenario in itself.”
It sure is, given that nobody in the mainstream press seemed to give a God damn about the dozens of times when Trump openly collaborated with his Attorney General to corrupt the justice department with self-serving persecution of his enemies and covering up his own crimes.
"Even before Trump’s indictment for allegedly mishandling classified documents became public Thursday night, Biden was asked by a reporter how he could persuade Americans to trust the independence and fairness of his Justice Department when it is repeatedly attacked by Trump.
Every single sentient person knows that Trump's attacks are nothing but lies, but how does Biden "defend himself" against these lies when the press takes them for the truth?
"To complicate the politics further, the president faces his own investigation by special counsel Robert Hur, who is looking into allegations that Biden, too, improperly handled classified documents. The cases are different — Biden’s seems to involve far fewer documents, and unlike Trump, he appears to have fully cooperated with investigators — but Trump has repeatedly cited Biden’s case, suggesting without evidence that it is more serious than his own."
Of course, not one word about the fact that the cases are entirely different, in kind and in severity, and Trump is just lying about Biden's situation.
"If Biden is cleared — as Trump’s vice president, Mike Pence, was last week, after accidentally taking a small batch of classified documents and voluntarily giving them back — Trump’s supporters are likely to claim a double standard."
Of course they will. And they will be lying about that too. Maybe the Washington Post should point that out?
In addition, Biden’s son Hunter is currently under federal investigation and faces potential tax and gun charges. Prosecutors are expected to resolve that case soon by filing charges, closing the case or reaching a plea deal, any of which could bring political complications to the White House.
"The U.S. attorney overseeing that case, David C. Weiss, was appointed by Trump, and Biden has not moved to replace him, presumably to avoid any appearance that he is interfering in his son’s case."
As Trump constantly "interfered" in Justice department cases, in the most corrupt manner imaginable. That, of course, was not worth even mentioning in the Washington Post.
"In the short term, Biden may be able to avoid weighing in on the case and will no doubt attempt to keep it at arm’s length in the coming weeks. But the case will unfold at the same time as the turbulent presidential campaign, probably forcing Trump’s case to the forefront and potentially making it hard for Biden to ignore.
And the president is hardly known as the most disciplined speaker, as even his close aides acknowledge."
Biden is not "the most disciplined speaker." Not a comment on how "disciplined" a speaker the absolute raving lunatic Trump might be, after screaming for violence and vengeance every time he is threatened with the consequences of his criminality- behavior so abominable than none of us ever thought we would see it from a President of the United States. Once again, of course, that is of no matter. Note in passing that the Post does not feel it necessary to spend one second detailing a single time when Biden was not a "disciplined speaker," to perhaps contrast it with the 30,000 documented lies Trump told (by the Post's own count) while he was President.
“It sets our country up for a bizarre moment, with a sitting president trying to put an ex-president in jail,” Brinkley said. “It’s super tricky. … It is a very fine dance that Biden has to do. He has to use all his finesse and make sure he doesn’t get trapped into attacking Trump in an unsavory manner about the Miami case. He makes one screw-up with that, and it blows up big.”
It blows up big. Far bigger than the endless corruption and betrayal that Trump visited on this country, even to the point of espionage and very likely literal, Constitutional, treason. That is nothing compared to how horrible it would be if Biden were to be "get trapped into attacking Trump," i.e. daring to speak the clear truth about him.
"During his campaign, Biden often vowed to ensure the Justice Department’s independence if he won...Still, Biden has on occasion commented on legal or criminal matters in ways that his Republican critics, and even some legal observers, have called inappropriate."
Of course, as they know perfectly well at the Washington Post, "Republican critics" are going to attack anything that Biden does, regardless of how successful he is, and the Post and the rest of the mainstream media are going to go right on repeating the Republican smears, without a word about whether they are true.
"In October 2021, Biden said that he hoped a congressional committee, dealing with former Trump aides who threatened to defy their subpoenas, “goes after them and holds them accountable criminally.” Asked if he believed that the Justice Department should prosecute those who do not comply, he said, “I do, yes.”
It was a major offense to say that criminals should be prosecuted. It was, apparently, not even worth mentioning that someone had committed those crimes. And this too is abominable:
"Biden has also defended his son Hunter amid the years-long federal criminal investigation. “My son has done nothing wrong. I trust him. I have faith in him,” the president told MSNBC in May.
That comment drew concern from a number of legal experts..."this is a very serious violation of the norm,” Jack Goldsmith, a Harvard Law School professor and former assistant attorney general, wrote on Lawfare."
Biden defending his only remaining son is far worse than, say, Donald Trump saying nothing about one of his sons taking a two billion dollar bribe from a vicious foreign dictator. No comment about whether it is worse for Biden to say he trusts his son than it is for Trump to incite violence against everyone who stands in the way of his criminality.
"As for the Trump charges, Republicans, without evidence, wasted little time before lambasting the Justice Department for an ostensible double standard."
"Historians contacted for this article struggled to find parallels to the treacherous landscape facing Biden. No former president has been charged with federal crimes before, after all — let alone one who is seeking to regain the White House."
So, despite the fact that it is Donald Trump who has been indicted for horrible crimes that he has clearly committed, and that Republicans are leveling baseless charges against Biden, it is Biden who faces a "treacherous landscape."
"But that situation is hardly comparable. “It is a very difficult situation,” said presidential historian Robert Dallek. “The question would be, if Trump were convicted, would Biden pardon him? And if he remembered the Ford example, he wouldn’t do it.”
What a load of absolute garbage. If Biden remembers the Ford example, he will know that it is a direct cause of the criminal behavior of Donald Trump. And here we go- the Washington Post essentially demanding that Trump suffer no consequences for his monstrous corruption. It is difficult, you see, for a Democrat to decide to let Republican criminals be punished for their crimes, because otherwise Republicans will scream about it for years, and no doubt they will persecute Democrats for non-crimes, like Benghazi, Hillary's E-mails, the Hunter Biden laptop, and on and on. But that's just the way things work in this country.
Well, there is more, but that is more than enough. As you would expect, the mainstream press is determined to see to it that the most horrible criminality on the part of Republicans is ignored while a host of imaginary wrongdoings is blamed on Democrats. That's how the country got saddled with a monster like Donald Trump in the first place, and apparently our national press seems determined to give it a try again.
