Both Candidates Won The Debate

Image
Sorry, Democrats, who just saw Donald Trump throw a ninety minute tantrum on TV, Biden won the debate in the real world, but Trump won the debate in Trump world.  Don't believe me?  Come back in two days, and I will have a Wingnut Wrapup covering the right wing spin about what happened tonight, and you just know what it will say. Here's what I saw:  This fool has more at stake than any other political candidate in our country's history, because if he loses, he is facing the real possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison on a hundred criminal charges.  And even so, this malignant narcissist saw this debate as nothing but a chance to display his disgusting, bullying personality for an hour and a half, regardless of the stakes involved, and that is what he did- strutting like a malformed peacock, living his dream of displaying his hateful personality to the whole country, whether they like it or not.  It was all Trump ever does, an act of pure bullying...

Drug Tests

I just wanted to provide a quick explanation of why Trump is demanding every day now that Biden take a drug test before the debate tonight. As you know, the main weapon that Trump has mobilized in his entire campaign against Biden is the claim that Biden has deeply descended into senility and cannot mentally handle the job of President.  This is ludicrous to anyone who has seen Biden give a speech or speak to an interviewer this year, but that was the reason which Trump had settled on to convince people to vote against Biden. Needless to say, as is usual with Trump, this patent smear was a gross act of projection, as it is clear that Trump himself is deeply mentally deficient.  However, a problem occurred to Trump's handlers: this claim was setting the bar for Biden so low that if Biden managed to sit upright in his chair for ninety minutes and not drool on his suit, he could well be declared the winner- a strategy that Trump himself had used to his benefit many times in the p...

The Big Rat Leaves The Sinking Ship

A story whose significance has not been grasped by most people: "Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday called for a truce between the United States and Russia, asking for both countries to agree not to meddle in this year's elections.  In a statement, Putin wrote that he proposes "to exchange, in a mutually acceptable format, guarantees of non-intervention into internal affairs of each other, including into electoral processes, inter alia, by means of the ICTs and high-tech methods."   Vlad knows that he has milked his personal cow dry, so he is getting ready to ship it off to the meat packer.  Next thing you know, he is going to be joining the Lincoln project. And as for Trump, he made the same mistake that Hitler did with Stalin- Hitler thought he was the baddest guy in the world.  He was wrong.  So is Trump.  Mister backstabber, meet an even bigger backstabber.  And it couldn't happen to a more deserving person.

The Electors' Duty

Image
What follows is a reprinting of a post that I wrote four years ago, after Donald Trump "won" the 2016 Presidential election.  I don't really reprint things I have written before, but in this case, given the massive misinformation about the duties of the Presidential electors, I think it is important to see what the authors of the Constitution said about what the duty of the electors was.  It certainly is not what Republicans claim, providing one more proof of the utter falsehood of their endless claims to be protecting the original intent of the founders of our country.  So, here it is: Signing of the Constitution Well, as it is getting closer to the time when the Electoral College will, in overwhelming likelihood, put its seal of approval on the travesty of Trump's accession to the White House, I thought it would do well to see what the founding fathers really thought about this institution.  For that purpose, I'll turn to Federalist Paper no. 68, where the mu...

Impeach Amy Coney Barrett

Just remember that you heard it here first.  And by the way, impeach Trump's other two Supreme Court picks too.  These are all deeply corrupt right wing hacks who were put on the court by an illegitimate President who took office through an act of treason.  And particularly in the case of Barrett, she is judicially totally unqualified and a lunatic on top of it.  The first two took office after lying to the Senate about their real intentions once approved, and of course Barrett will do the same, if McConnell even bothers with hearings this time around.  Out with them. Now to be a little more temperate here:  I believe that Biden, if elected, will do the right thing on virtually all issues, and will be infinitely better than any criminal the Republicans can find in the sewer that is their leadership.  But I am deeply afraid of one thing.  We have already, in the last half century or so, seen multiple instances of the deepest Republican treachery in...

And Meanwhile, News About Another Hoax

Image
That would be global warming, which we all know is nothing but a corrupt hoax perpetrated by a secret conspiracy of tens of thousands of scientists around the world, in league with America hating Democrats. This is news about Charleston, South Carolina, which is one of the most beautiful and historically intact cities in the United States.  Perhaps I am overly sensitive to its fate, having lived there at one time, but I still was disturbed by this report, in the Washington Post today. "Between 1953 and 2000, Charleston experienced minor flooding an average of eight times per year, according to the National Weather Service. In the past decade, that number has quintupled to more than 41 instances annually. Monday’s event was classified as major flooding, a threshold reached only six times between 1953 and 2000, yet has happened eight times in the past two years, according to the weather agency." Here's a picture, from the most historic part of the city: This area is on...

Objective Reporting, Mainstream Press Style

This report today, by Laura Meckler and Valerie Strauss, from the Washington Post: "Feared covid-19 outbreaks in schools have yet to arrive, early data shows Thousands of students and teachers have become sick, but there is little evidence that the virus is spreading inside school buildings." Thousands have become sick, but there is little evidence that the virus is spreading.  I can't even think of a sarcastic reply to that delusional statement, and this is from the top of the mainstream journalistic world.
