I just also believe that, when it comes to nuclear accidents, from Three Mile Island to Cernobyl and everywhere else, every one has been followed by an avalanche of lies from the government and companies involved, so that today, we cannot be sure if we will ever know the truth about a single one of them.Green Eaglehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13477132834757467690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903235483068862940.post-44485768984980175272017-03-21T02:26:39.315-07:002017-03-21T02:26:39.315-07:00“they may have actually done more damage to their ...“they may have actually done more damage to their country by letting their own government scheme with the nuclear industry”

‘they’ can’t stop that.

At least both our countries have an actual opposition party. Political parties are amorphous in Japan, the pieces just get shuffled around so the same corporate hegemony stays in place.

The chairman and two vice presidents of TEPCO, which controls the reactors, were actually indicted last year for negligence causing death.
But there is no trial by jury in Japan, the legal system is designed to protect the powerful.
The prosecutors themselves said they would not bring charges but a civilian judiciary panel, which is rarely used, said ‘tough shit, we the people want them indicted’, after which indictment became mandatory, which is very annoying to THE FUCKING PROSECUTORS (!!!)
Even so, they’ll probably get off. If not, a lackey – usually a senior assistant - will commit suicide to absorb guilt. I predict 50% chance of the latter.

Meanwhile, Toshiba is in real trouble.
Why should you give a shit? Because they have nuclear reactors under construction in the United States, though they are in red states (I think).
The upshot is that those won’t proceed, meaning the power will have to be delivered by dirtier means because the Trump regime isn’t interested in clean energy, or someone, let’s say... ‘less regulated’... might do them instead, provided they can do it cheap, which they will be able to as Toshiba has to offload the project.

Plus ordinary Americans may end up paying for all this as Toshiba’s American corporate partners will not want to – it would cost someone a bonus - possibly leading to the choice of either paying for nothing or paying for reactors built with less safeguards than current practice recommends.

But radiation reports only sound scary till you have something to compare them to, like someone throwing an egg at a skyscraper, and Ann Coulter says radiation is good for you, so all will be well, surely.Magpiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02423673258718941141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903235483068862940.post-52627890601385057132017-03-20T20:17:57.148-07:002017-03-20T20:17:57.148-07:00And FNZ-795, a sad reminder of a world of horror t...And FNZ-795, a sad reminder of a world of horror that so many in our country are working night and day to bring back. Anyone who knows anything about the history of nuclear accidents knows that only a small fragment of the whole story of Fukushima has been told, and whatever we know now, well, multiply it by ten or a hundred to get a feeling for the real long term damage. Rejecting the evidence that kids learn better with proper meals must be a piece of cake. After all, it's not like they'd know such things from direct experience, since they've probably never had to go hungry.

As for the Fukushima story, Japanese people are kind of touchy about nuclear radiation for some reason.Infidel753https://www.blogger.com/profile/10965786814334886696noreply@blogger.com
