I'm just saying that anything we do is going to be taken by the Republicans as an excuse to act out their abominable treachery.Green Eaglehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13477132834757467690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903235483068862940.post-13095306375906954602016-10-24T00:17:20.935-07:002016-10-24T00:17:20.935-07:00I already voted early here in AZ. But, I'm a ...I already voted early here in AZ. But, I'm a reliable voter, who turns out for every single thing. We need more people to go to the booth on off year elections, and stay tuned in for the local stuff too. I've had a couple of conversations with folks after I voted in years past, when I had my "I Voted" sticker on my shirt, and they stated they'd vote, but they didn't know much about the candidates and/or issues, aside from what was aired on TV. That can't be an excuse now, since I was able to drill down to non partisan candidates doing searches on the internet. Twenty minutes, and I had information from candidates Facebook pages, election websites, community newspaper articles, and voter guides from various outfits which had the candidates fill out responses about their vision for the seat they were running for. Not too hard these days to get a feel for those who are running for office, or for the various propositions on the ballot.

Now that the (D)'s have a large swatch of people motivated (for whatever reason) to turn out, they need to keep them engaged. 2018 and 2020 are going to be critical in seeing if we can fix the gerrymandering which put the (R)'s in positions which voting obviously didn't favor, but the maps they made did. If they can get that done, then the House can be brought back to working condition again, instead of a three way split between the (R)'s, the Tea-Party, and the (D)'s. Showing the government of the people is actually working for the people would go a long way in keeping new voters support.

I do fear eliminating the filibuster in the Senate, but he (R)'s have plainly shown they don't want to allow the proper operation of the government, unless it is on their terms. The (D)'s have bent over backwards in the past to try to get some support from the other side, but all they've gotten was burned. I say go ahead and get rid of the judicial filibuster - fill the ranks of the judiciary which have been left empty for far too long. Also, too, they should fulfill the conservatives worst fear, and put young, progressive people on any new vacancies in the Supreme Court, which will start putting paid to the bill of grievances they have accumulated. I guess the point I am making is that, by this point in history, we have to assume that, whatever the Republicans do, it is going to be worse than our worst expectations. I think the Republicans will use anything the Democrats do as an excuse to do far worse things than we can ever imagine.
