Oblivious

Donald Trump, quoted in Politico:

“Well, you know, I really feel it, Mike. I go to Ohio, we were there two days ago, and Pennsylvania and near Pittsburgh and we — I was in West Virginia, the crowds are massive. And you know, I walked out of one, and I said, ‘I don’t see how I’m not leading,'" Trump said, invoking the size of his crowds.
"We have thousands of people standing outside trying to get in, and they’re great people and they have such spirit for the country and love for the country, and I’m saying, you know, ‘Why am I not doing better in the polls?’

And in further news, our new puppy loves me.  Why am I not doing better in the polls?

A New Dawn on the Supreme Court is Within Our Grasp

I want to amplify my comments on a post I made a few days ago about the recent Supreme Court decision recognizing that the State of Texas used grossly dishonest arguments to justify anti-abortion laws.  And as before, I want to point out the tremendously good news that this decision presages.

So, here's what I see:  Republican packing of the Supreme Court really began in earnest during the Nixon administration, in an action that forced the appointment of Rehnquist, and has continued ever since.  And the key point that must be understood is this never represented a split between liberal and conservative Justices.  These Republican appointees were not conservative, they were corrupt.  They were nothing but tools of the rich backers in the Republican party, who had figured out by the sixties that they could never get the results they were paying to obtain, through honest means.

So, we have a whole host of issues on which there is no question that the Republican party is lying.  We all know their antiabortion laws have nothing to do with health, but are a pandering to an enraged, ignorant base to get them to cooperate with an agenda that is destroying them.  We all know that Republican laws about voting have nothing to do with the essentially nonexistent threat of voter fraud, but are solely intended to disenfranchise Democrats.  We all know that global warming is real, and it is a massive threat to the survival of civilization.  We all know that corporations are not people.  We all know that Bush cheated his way into the Presidency, with the aid of Supreme Court corruption, and we all know the result.  We all know that the Constitution does not license the uncontrolled personal ownership of weapons.  And we all know that Repubican shibboleths like Federalism and supply side economics are nothing but empty blabbering to justify their power and money grabs to the uninformed.

And when I say "we" know these things perfectly well, I include the five Republican Supreme Court justices who have, under the leadership of the hateful intellectual bully, Antonin Scalia, ignored what we all know, to render a continuing series of patently fallacious decisions, which, at this point, have left the United States on a path to have the most unequal division of wealth of any country in the history of the world, by 2030; and which have just about destroyed our ability to govern ourselves, in the face of opposition from a multinational cadre of hyper-rich sociopaths.

This recent decision represents a stunning departure from this criminal behavior, forced on the court by the Republicans on its bench, and the Republicans who put them there.  It is a reminder, after so long, that we don't have to have our country stolen by five very corrupt men.  Now, let us make sure that our side gets to appoint the next Supreme Court justice, and perhaps the dark, three decades long era of utter corruption that the Republicans have forced on the country can at last come to an end, and we can really get on with the job, ably started by Obama, of healing the damage.

Wingnut Wrapup- BENGHAZI!!!!!!! Special Edition

All Benghazi, all the time!

So the deeply pathetic House Benghazi committee released its Repubicans-only report today, and guess what it contained?  Eight hundred pages of nothing.  What a surprise.  Even the miserable fanatics on the committee (with the exception of two of them, who produced their own "report" repeating every one of the long-discredited lies that have been all the Republicans have ever had) couldn't repeat the charges that they have been making for four years, in print for the world to see forever.  So, how did the wingnut blogs respond?  Well, pretty much as expected:

Guy benson, Town Hall:  " More Lies: Newly-Discovered Withheld Emails Highlight Hillary's Unaccountability, Possible Perjury"

No they don't.  But with Benghazi turning into such a bust, I guess they are going with a lie they think they haven't worn out yet.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "FLASHBACK: When Hillary Stood in Front of Flag Draped Coffins And Lied About a Video"

Because maybe if we repeat a lying smear for the ten thousandth time, someone will believe it.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Committee Report: Secretary of Defense Panetta Ordered Military Assets For Benghazi, They Never Moved"

Katie says later in the article that "they never arrived."  That's a lot different than "they never moved," isn't it?  They didn't get there in time.  Boy, Katie has been a busy little liar today.

'The question remaining is why the assets never made it. According to the report, President Obama said during the attack to "do everything possible to help our people...Could it be that military assets never left the ground because the State Department was arguing about which uniforms the Marines should have been wearing on their rescue missing? Wow. "

Could it be that the assets never made it because Obama and Hillary were in a meeting with lizard people from outer space?  Could be...

And this is a lie with some real staying power:

Streiff, Red State:  "When the Benghazi Phone Rang At 3AM, Hillary Clinton Was Obsessed Over What Clothing the Marines Should Wear"

The desperation with which the Republicans are trying to salvage some scandal from their disastrous House Benghazi hatchet job is spectacular.  By the way, by 3 am Washington time, the whole thing was over, but that doesn't stop the Republicans from adding this to their stack of Benghazi lies too.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Hillary Responds to Scathing Benghazi Report: “It’s Time to Move On”

"Scathing," in this case, being Republican speak for "absolutely nothing of substance; i.e. a complete rout of the Republican liars."  They should thank their lucky stars that Hillary is willing to walk away from this Republican disgrace, instead of grinding it in their faces forever.

"House Republicans released their final report on the Benghazi attacks Tuesday morning. The report concludes what we already knew. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton DID NOTHING to save US lives in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. They spent precious time instead during the attack concocting a lie they would tell the American public about the terrorist attack."

The report, of course, revealed nothing of the kind, but that won't stop pathological liars like Jim Hoft from repeating the same tired falsehoods forever, nor will it stop their ignorant, vicious base from lapping it up.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Rep. Trey Gowdy RIPPED the media after the Benghazi report was released today.  The media used the Democrat talking points to attack Gowdy and the committee on Tuesday. The first reporter asked if this was a wise use of taxpayer dollars. Democrats said no new information was presented in the GOP report.  Trey Gowdy let the media have it!"

Have what?  A trophy for telling the truth?  No, he was extremely angry with them for pointing out that he has spent two years making a gigantic, malicious fool of himself.  By the way, one more confirmation here that the phrase "Democratic talking points" is Republican talk for "the truth."

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Benghazi Report: State Dept Withheld Requested Weapons to Agents Because They Were Not “Aesthetically Pleasing”

Oh, grow up, Jim.  As we might have expected, Jim has been a particularly busy boy this morning.

Breitbart:  "Sharyl Attkisson: Obama and Clinton Lied to the Public, ‘Impeded the Investigation’

This latest lie from Sharyl Attkisson, who, if you don't remember her, was pretty much drummed from the respectable media for promoting an entirely fictional account of what happened in Benghazi.  That's why she's hanging with the Breitbart people these days.

"In the end, Republicans say the White House “impeded the investigation” making it impossible to answer all outstanding questions. "

That must be the explanation for them coming up with nothing after a two year, multimillion dollar inquisition.  It just couldn't be that the whole thing was a partisan lie-fest from the beginning.

Breitbart:  "Exclusive — Sarah Palin: Administration Lies, Soldiers Die. Yes, Hillary, at Every Point ‘It Matters’

Sarah Palin.  Enough said.  As a sort of thought experiment, just imagine what it might have been like if Sarah Palin had been running security in Benghazi.  Maybe she could have had Todd and her sons go over there, get drunk and beat up the terrorists.

Neil W. McCabe, Breitbart:  "Exclusive: GOP Committee Members: Benghazi Report Proves Hillary Clinton Unfit For White House"

Apparently because she lied so much that she prevented the committee members from finding something to impeach her for.  This in the report from two Republican committee members who were infuriated that the partisan hack Republican report didn't tell enough lies.

Larry O'Connor, Hot Air:  "Benghazi report details Obama/Clinton failures before, during and after deadly attacks"

Just not very many of them, and none of any consequence.  Oh well, you've got to go to war with the lies you have, as I think someone once said.

Sandy Fitzgerald, Newsmax:  "Newt Gingrich: Clinton 'Lied While Americans Were Dying' in Benghazi"

Well, with the opinion of that celebrated champion of the truth, Newt Gingrich, I think we'll have to leave this subject.  The garbage goes on and on, but you get the idea.  The Benghazi committee was a partisan hatchet job built on lies from the very day it started. We all know this, and yesterday's essentially content-free report was just the last dying gasp of a particularly unappealing monster.

A Quick Note About the Supreme Court Abortion Decision

Here's an aspect of this which has not received any attention yet, but I think is the most important part of the whole thing:  This law does not only presage well for reproductive rights in other States; it sticks a knife in the heart of the whole Republican scam of claiming they are passing laws for good reasons, when in fact they are doing it for electoral advantage or to pander to their base, which is basically the same thing.  If the Supreme Court, without the malignant presence of the intellectual bully Antonin Scalia, can finally face the fact that this law was passed on an entirely dishonest basis, perhaps at last they are free to recognize the wholly unacceptable grounds on which Republicans really want these laws.  This goes all the way from voter suppression to "Citizens United" type corporate pandering.

And it makes all the more stark the choices we face this fall.  A Democratic President and Congress could set the country back on the path of working for the people; a Republican President and Congress, particularly if that President is Donald Trump, will be a fatal blow to the existence of the United States.

Brexit, Schmexit

Just a couple of thoughts about Brexit, which I haven't really paid much attention to, despite having lived in England when I was a graduate student at Cambridge:

First of all, as usual, to American commenters, it's all about us, ranging from some guys on right wing websites blaming the whole thing on Obama (naturally,) to the standard mainstream take that, just like with Trump, it's about a bunch of angry working class white people who hate minorities in their country. This, of course, ignores another, and potentially much more damaging issue, "austerity."  Under the doctrines of austerity, the entire economy of Europe has to be subservient to the banks and seeing that investors don't lose a nickel on their loans, regardless of how irresponsible they were.  And the unfortunate reality is that the countries within the EEC who have all the power are the rich ones (I'm talking you here, Angela Merkel) which, of course, are home to all the bankers and investors.  So, guess who calls the tune?

Making the whole economy respond to the interests of the rich is, of course, hardly a new idea.  If you are interested in how it works out, you might care to look at the Presidency of Calvin Coolidge, who turned the running of the economy over to one Andrew Mellon, one of the richest and greediest people in history, who proceeded to set the government on a course of financial support to bankers and investors, and no one else.

Well, a lot of people in Europe are sick of this kind of thing, but to read most of the reporting, it is all about hating immigrants.  The truth is, the real powers behind the throne in Europe could have easily avoided the exit of Britain by recognizing the damage they were doing by catering to their rich friends' interests, but of course, as in the United States, a large part of the guys who vote on such things don't give a damn about how much damage they cause, and so we end up with Cyprus, and Portugal, and now Brexit.  If the European Union does fall apart, it will not be because of immigrants, but because of the intransigent refusal of corrupt leaders to budge one inch from their servicing of the rich.

By the way, just to return to some good old American self-obsession, separating these two issues pretty much defines the difference between Bernie's campaign and Trump's.  Of course, the mainstream press will do whatever it can to suppress awareness of any rational opposition to what is economically off kilter in this country, so they try to conflate the two candidates and their followers.

Well, in the end, despite the current panic by the chicken littles on Wall Street, my guess is that in the end this will not make all that much difference.  The economic damage that the British exit from the European Union causes is, I suspect, far less than the continuing bleeding that "austerity," i.e. giving everything to the rich, would have done in the future.

Wingnut Wrapup

Today's Wingnut Wrapup is dedicated to old hand David Gergen, who had this to say about Trump's disgusting, lying forty minute smear of Hillary:

"DAVID GERGEN: If you don't look at what the substance of what he said, one of his best speeches and most effective speeches."

If you don't look at the substance.  That's a good way to pick a President.  Well, Trump's speech was not quite as good as a Hitler speech maybe, but let's just ignore the substance of what Hitler said too.  That way, we can admire both of them.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "Media Screwing Up Reports On The AR-15 During Mass Shootings Isn’t New, Nor Was It The Most Embarrassing"

You see, because they got wrong the exact model of assault rifle the Orlando killer used, they don't have a damned right to say a word about the 49 people he killed.  Just for your information, here is the actual model, from Sig Sauer:

and an AR-15:

As you can see the two products are so dissimilar in appearance and use, that anyone that mistook one for the other is an ignorant fool that could not tell the difference between, say, a live clubgoer and a dead one, or a Republican Congressman and a bought-and-paid-for tool of the NRA.  Oh wait a minute- there is no difference between the last two.

Bruce Bialosky, Town Hall:  "This Is On Obama... how ISIS has grown and prospered is the responsibility of President Obama more than anyone else, and that needs to be identified and he needs to be held accountable for that."

Bruce, you know damned well who in the White House was really responsible for ISIS- it was your guys and their criminal war of aggression against Iraq.  No amount of lying on your part will ever change that.  And just a word about letting right wingers rewrite history: This country should have learned a lesson from what happened when we let people pretend that the Confederate generals were heroes, instead of traitors.  It's time for the truth.  Practically everything that has ever gone wrong with this country (and most of the rest of the world) has been caused by the right, and every time we forget that, we get screwed.

Stephen Cruiser, PJ Media:  "Trump Goes Full Democrat on Terror Watch List Gun Purchase Issue"

Apparently, it is a Republican thing to want terrorists to be able to buy guns.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "NRA Hits Hillary Clinton in Powerful Ad after Orlando ISIS Massacre: “Stop Talking!” Your Words Expose Your Ignorance "

SHUT UP, HILLARY!!!!!!!  Man, that is a powerful ad.  And with a message simple enough for the suckers who support them to understand.

Cliff Kincaid, Renew America:  "We need more Islamophobia, not less"

Whatever, Cliff.  Just shoot your mouth off about anything you want.  Who cares what you have to say?

Paul Bremmer, World Net Daily:  "BLACK AMERICANS WARNED: DEMOCRATS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!  'They are essentially brainwashed by liberals who have much to gain'

Warned.  Well it was thoughtful of someone to take the time to offer the help.  And warned by whom? Ben Kinchlow, the cofounder of the 700 club, along with Pat Robertson.  I'm sure Ben only had black Americans' best interests at heart.  Of course, Ben repeats the same tired lies about how every shred of civil rights progress in history came from Republicans.  Luckily, the number of black people who read World Net Daily is pretty close to zero, and not very many of them are dumb enough to believe that, anyway.

David Kupelian, World Net Daily:  "PRESIDENT HILLARY: AMERICA'S NURSE RATCHED...  Exclusive... how Clintons would turn U.S. into insane asylum

Well, get ready for stories like this.  With Trump being pretty much a made-to-order Bond villain, we can expect Hillary to be compared to every evil fictional woman in history.  Next up:  "Hillary- the Cirsei Lannister of America."

World Net Daily:  "Supremes eye 'assault-weapon' bans in 2 states"

Supremes?

Who knew they cared?

Barbwire:  "ORLANDO TRAGEDY – A TIME FOR PRAYER NOT POLITICS"

I.e.  a time to do nothing, just like all the other times.  Because profits are more important than lives.

Michael Bresciani, Barbwire:  "REALLY AMERICA! – WHICH CANDIDATE IS MOST LIKELY TO STOP MORE JIHADIST ATTACKS?"

Maybe we should start by asking the question "which candidate is most likely to cause more jihadist attacks.

Before It's News:   "Obama Signed Over the US to the United Nations... President Obama effectively signed over the sovereignty of the United States to the United Nations...the United States became a de facto puppet state of the United Nations nearly nine months ago."

Just thought you'd like to know.  Guess the election doesn't seem that important any more.  By the way, might you be a little curious about how Obama signed over our sovereignty and turned us into a puppet state?  Why, it was because he agreed to participate in worldwide program to increase vaccination rates in third world countries.  And as an additional crime:

"This means the continued degradation of the American male as the strong leader of the family unit as per Biblical teachings"

Well, that's the real abomination, right?

And while we're stopping by:

Before it's News:  "Witness Spills Beans on Illuminati Sacrifice in Denver Tonight!"

Be there or be square!

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "Failed Gun Control Push Only Gave Senate Democrats Another Opportunity To Bash The NRA...I honestly have no clue what Senate Democrats were smoking when they decided to hold these pro-gun control amendments that were doomed to fail from the outset. There was no way Senate Republicans were going to get onboard to expand background checks...Nothing was going to happen. Period."

And you just can't figure out why Democrats proposed something that 90% of the American people support, but that corrupt Republicans won't pass.  Just can't figure it out.  Okay then, Matt.

Megan Maxey, Town Hall:  "Conservative Women Gather in DC, Discuss Fallacies of Modern Feminism"

No word on how many "Conservative women" actually showed up, and curiously enough, the web page of the organization holding this event did not have a single picture of it.  The photo at Town Hall showed 11 visible women, and two men.

Well, it's a start.  Maybe next year they will get 30.  And a camera that takes color pictures.

Rick Moran, PJ Media:  "Trump's Campaign Is Sinking and No One Is Doing Anything About It"

Not Green Eagle.  Green Eagle is laughing himself sick about it.  And Rick, Green Eagle is not alone.

Linda Harvey, Barbwire:  "DOES ‘GAY’-ACTIVIST HATE CAUSE GLOBAL CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION?...Are vocal anti-Christian activists – led by those who advocate homosexuality and gender confusion– at fault?"

No, not really.

Dr. Michael Brown, Barbwire:  "In the aftermath of the Orlando massacre, leftist voices are not only blaming conservative Christians for the tragedy, they are now calling on Christians to renounce their sacred beliefs and historic convictions, as if holding to a biblical definition of marriage leads to mass murder."

It does, at least if history is much of a guide.

Dr. Don Boys, Barbwire:  "DESTRUCTION OF SOUTHERN CULTURE BY FANATICS!  Politicians, academics, and media moguls who hate the courage, character, commitment, and culture of the South are trying to deny, denigrate, and destroy Southern values. However, they have jumped on a bandwagon with loose wheels and will not know total victory–not without another uncivil war."

Helpfully illustrated by the following photo:

I guess we all know what they mean by the "courage, character, commitment" of the south.

Kaitlyn Collins, Daily Caller:  "Kendall Jenner Wasn't Wearing A Bra Yesterday. These Photos Prove It."

Just another sample of the incisive news coverage you just don't find at liberal websites.

Kurt Schlichter, Town Hall:  "They Will Never Lie Away Our God-Given Rights"

In this case, our God-given right to own an assault weapon.  I actually missed that part when I read the Bible.  Maybe they found it in the Koran.  Or the Necronomicon.

And boy, they'll never give up on this one:

Jerry Newcombe, Renew America:  "At least Bush kept us safe at home"
Safe. Right.

And now, this height of ludicrousness:

Susan Ferrechio, Renew America:  "Republicans moved early Thursday morning to adjourn the House ahead of schedule for the July 4 recess after Democrats refused to end their takeover of the chamber, and threatened to prevent the House from doing any work through Friday or even beyond"

Threatened to prevent the House from doing any work.  The jokes write themselves.

Thank Bernie?

My wife says that we have Bernie Sanders to thank for the Democratic sit-in in Congress today.  She says he showed that grown-ups could do teenage things.

Green Eagle Gets Paranoid About Trump

If there's one thing that Green Eagle dearly loves, it's a good conspiracy theory, and here's one that he just thought up today.

Let's say that, oh, about a year ago, the rich sociopaths who really own the Republican party realized that the mob of monsters that they created to be their base had gone totally out of control and were going to nominate one of the crazies that have haunted the political aisles for years- probably Ted Cruz, whose administration, if he won, would almost undoubtedly precipitate a depression, which is very bad for business.  So, here's what they did:  they convinced one of their own, a multibillionaire who absurdly campaigns on the basis that he can't be bought by the other multibillionaires, totally ignoring the fact that nobody needs to buy him, because he is already one of them.  Well, this guy takes a big hunk of his own money and uses it as a loan to finance a campaign even bigger, more outrageous, more boastful, more angry and more filled with hatred than anything that the other candidates could possibly match.

So, he wins the primaries, and is coasting into the nomination.  What does he do now?  Nothing. Nothing but give a few more desultory speeches.  He doesn't assemble a campaign team, he doesn't try to raise money, he doesn't try to get the Republican bigwigs on board.  Why? because he knows that a pretext is going to be created for him to withdraw without totally humiliating himself.  Then, the whole pack of Republican crazies can be replaced at the convention by a creature wholly owned by the hyper-rich- Paul Ryan, perhaps, or maybe (curse the thought) even Jeb himself.  And Trump is in on the gag, confident that really rich people will tip a few chips into his pocket for his trouble.

Well, there you go.  Right now, a paranoid dream.  Let's see what has happened by a month from now.

Republican Logic

Paul Ryan, speaking to Chuck Todd:

"The last thing I want to see happen is another Democrat in the White House. I don't want see Hillary Clinton as president. I want to see a strong majority in the House and the Senate. And I think the way to achieve those goals is to have a more unified party, than a dis-unified party," he added.

Todd quickly jumped on Ryan's response.

"You just made a case though of party over country," Todd said.

"No, I didn't," Ryan replied."

I guess Chuck Todd has given Republicans plenty of reasons the last few years not to fear any consequences when they lie right in his face, but about something they just said in the previous sentence?

Boy, this is going to be a painful election, no matter who they nominate.

Trump Shows His Presidential Qualities, Yet Again

Thanks to Crooks and Liars, Donald Trump explaining (to a cheering crowd) how things like the Orlando massacre will be dealt with once he is President:

A gunfight in a darkened night club filled with three hundred innocent people.  By the way, anyone with the faintest knowledge of pistols knows how hard it is to hit a moving target with them in a calm situation, let alone in a free fire zone.  Something with a barrel that short just isn't that accurate. It isn't like it is in old cowboy movies, where the good guys would shoot the pistol out of the bad guys' hands, but Donald Trump doesn't seem to know that.

I've seen gun nuts all over the internet claiming that liberals have no right to say a word about guns because they couldn't tell the difference between an AR-15 and the Sig assault weapon that the Orlando killer used.  That's important, I guess, but understanding how many innocent bystanders would be killed before the "good guy with a gun" managed to hit the shooter, well that's just irrelevant.

And Inevitably:  It's a couple of hours later and we now hear this:  "Trump Says he Never Suggested Arming Club-goers"  No, never.  He would never suggest that.

Wingnut Wrapup

And yes, they have gone completely crazy.  The output of lunacy, in response, I guess, to the horrible situation they created for themselves, has increased dramatically lately, so I may have to do two of these a week for a while:

Tom DeLay:  “I think we got off the track when we allowed our government to become a secular government,” DeLay explained. “When we stopped realizing that God created this nation, that he wrote the Constitution, that it’s based on biblical principles.”

God wrote the Constitution.  And DeLay was one of the leaders of the Republican party at one point, and was only kicked out for corruption, not for being a deranged lunatic.

Ron Paul,  Town Hall:  "Fascism: A Bipartisan Affliction"

Both sides do it.  Republican fascism consisting in fostering hatred, racism and violence in the nation, then exploiting the results for political gain, while Democratic fascism consists, apparently, of not wanting rich people to own every scrap of wealth in the country.  Same thing really.

Todd, Starnes, Town Hall:  "Chick-fil-A did WHAT on Sunday?"

Who cares?

David Limbaugh, Town Hall:  "No, President Obama, Americans Don't Need to Examine Themselves"

They are already perfect.  And if you deny that, you are a commie traitor.

And now the conspiracy theory to rule them all:

I had to actually put up a screen capture of this one, or you'd never believe it was real.  Can you imagine how stupid a person would have to be to believe this?  And yet hundreds of commenters seem to have swallowed it hook line and sinker. Well, the website that featured this also had the following:

"Body Of Homeless Man Found In Restaurant Was Confirmed To Be Bob Marley"

"Queen Elizabeth Promises To ‘Take Back America’ If Trump Elected!"

"HORRIBLE! Children Wearing Sombreros Giving the Middle Finger to Trump! "

Okay, then.  I actually suspect that the body of the homeless man was actually Queen Elizabeth, and Bob Marley has spent the last 40 years impersonating her in England.  That's why they had to get rid of the Corgis- they were the only ones who could tell the difference.

Wayne Allan Root, Town Hall:  "How Donald Trump Can Take Down Both Hillary...and Obama"

E-mails!!!!!   They sent each other e-mails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Off with their heads:

"Did Obama ever send Hillary an email? If so, didn't he know it was going to a private server? Did he ever text or talk to Hillary over her nonsecure private cell phone?"

If so, off to prison with them.  Because that's what Republicans want, and this all they've got to try to get them there.

Streiff, Red State:  "NY Daily News Reporter Gersh Kuntzman Lies About The AR-15"

He said it's really loud, and Streiff says it isn't.  Considering that the Republican candidate for President is averaging about 50 major lies per speech, I think Streiff should find something more important to obsess about than how loud an AR-15 is.

Susan Wright, Red State:  "SHAMEFUL: No Call of Condolence to Florida Governor Rick Scott From President Obama"

That criminal son of a bitch Rick Scott, who refuses to even admit that gays were targeted in this attack? See, he's the one who really needs our condolences.  The 49 dead people?  Not so much. Why not attack Obama for not making a call of condolence to Pat Robertson too?

Streiff, Red State:  "No, Media, Donald Trump Destroying Email Is Not the Same As Hillary Clinton Doing It"

IOKIYAR

Streiff, Red State:  "Are the Saudis Actually Funding 20% Of Hillary Clinton’s Campaign?"

No.  Of course, the Bin Laden family were funders of George W. Bush's early businesses, but that,s all right.  Boy, this Streiff guy has really been on a tear today.

Nicholas Ballasy, PJ Media:  "Sessions: Trump Was 'Frustrated and Said Something He Shouldn't Have Said' About Judge"

Bullshit.  He said just what he wanted to say, and it is a good thing he did, because it's one more little piece of evidence of who he really is.

Joe Kovacs, World Net Daily:  "Obama 'defending terrorists' in tirade on Trump"

Right.  He's 'defending terrorists.' Drop dead, asshole.  Really, do remarks like this justify any more dignified an answer?  Do we need to pretend that they are honest comments, rather than vomiting forth of right wing hatred?

And the joke of the day:

James Lewis, American Thinker:  "The media still don't get that the Republican nominee is looking more and more presidential."

In what universe?

Christopher Chantrill, American Thinker:  "Orlando: Why it Means War"

Because right wingers really want an excuse to kill lots of brown people.  And Christopher makes it clear that liberals better goddamn shut their mouths about it, if they know what's good for them, or they might be on the receiving end too.

Jeffrey T. Brown, American Thinker:  "Islamist or Progressive? It's getting hard to tell the Difference"

Right.  Islamists believe they have the right to violently force their religion on people and so do Progressives.  Oh wait- that would be Conservatives.  And Islamists hate gays, and so do Progressives.  Oh wait again- that would be Conservatives too.  And Islamists believe in torturing your enemies, and so do Progressives.  Oh, wait, that would be Conservatives also.  Seeing a sort of pattern emerge here?

Sierra Rayne, American Thinker:  "Corrected national polling data shows Trump in the lead"

Corrected polling data. Here we go again.  This is so they can spend years screaming that Hillary stole the election when she wins.  I mean, it worked for Romney, right?

Thomas Lifson, American Thinker:  "Trump again plays by his own rulebook, revokes WaPo press credentials"

You know what, guy?  Omar Mateen played by his own rules too.  Sometimes it's better to stick with the rules that have worked for two hundred years.

And now, perhaps the most idiotic reworking of a great statement ever heard:

Charlotte Cushman, American Thinker:  "First they came for Wall Street, and I did not speak out because I don’t own any stock."

The poor, oppressed minority, stock brokers.  They are right on the point of being rounded up and sent to death camps.  Believe me, there was more of this, but you don't want to read it.

And now, some really heart-felt advice from the right:

Barbwire:  "STOP USING THE ORLANDO TRAGEDY TO PROMOTE POLITICAL AGENDAS!"

Will you be surprised to learn that the word "Trump" was never mentioned in this article?  No, it was just an attack on those miserable people who wanted to talk about gun laws.  Keeping innocent people from being killed, you see, is a "political agenda."  Selling your soul to gun manufacturers out of a perfect mixture of greed and cowardice is American as all get out.

Chris Mills, Barbwire:  "TRUMP IS RIGHT ABOUT OBAMA AND ORLANDO ATTACK"

Yeah, Obama actually is working with Muslim terrorists to destroy the United States:

"The Caliphate is real, and the Democratic Party is either too stupid to know it, or they are perpetuating its rise.

I don’t think they’re stupid…"

No, and neither are you.  You are just a lying traitor.

And, ready for a new high in open insanity:

Paul Hair, Barbwire:  "THE U.S. SHOULD CONQUER MEXICO AND OTHER REFUGEE PRODUCING NATIONS...First, the U.S. should reach out to the leaders of refugee producing nations and give them an ultimatum to resign and relinquish control of their nations so they can become American colonies...However, if their leaders refuse the offer, the U.S. should forcibly conquer their nations."

Well, there it is.  What they are really after: the one world government they always scream about- just fine if they are in charge. And let's remember how well they did trying to work this out in one country, Iraq.  Anyway, it's the obvious answer:

"So the next time someone says the U.S. has a moral obligation to take in an infinite amount of legal and illegal refugees, pitch him the idea I just mentioned. He’ll reject it in horror. And when that happens you can decisively tell him, “Now I know what you really support. You support the Alien Conquest of America.”

The alien conquest of America.  Yup, that's what Democrats are all about.
I'm really scared now.  I guess I'd better vote for Trump.

And some more well-meant advice:

Robert Oscar Lopez:  "Time for LGBT Leaders to Apologize, Resign, and Be Replaced"

This is because these miserable leaders have failed to devote all of their attention to attacking Muslims, which is the only issue that gay leaders have any right to talk about.

"They have been chasing after easy targets like ex-gays, orthodox Christians, "bullies," family values proponents, and Republicans for decades.  The underlying premise of their movement has been that the greatest dangers faced by gays stem from "hate" and "stigma" propagated by these supposedly intolerant "bigots" housed in conservative quarters."

The answer?  Apparently to let right wing Christians pick gay leaders.

And another dive into Conservative history:

Bruce Walker, American Thinker:  "The same familiar social toxins that thrived in Weimar Germany – sexual promiscuity described as less casual and more vicious, rampant abortion, nature-worship, cultural deconstruction – left the German people disarmed when facing the menace of Nazism (and, for that matter, Marxism).  Well educated and well bred Germans, believing in nothing, fell prey to the "something" of Nazism.

How were Nazis stopped?  Revulsion against Nazi anti-Semitic policies came almost instantly from churches and Christian organizations in America, Britain, and Canada"

Yes, it was abortion that caused the Nazis, and the churches that stopped Nazism.  Bet you never knew that.  Bet you thought it was the armed military might of many countries, most of them led by left leaning leaders, chief among them, whether you like it or not, Joseph Stalin, whose country did the heavy lifting of defeating Germany.

And a little more from this jackass:

"Another interesting but lost fact is how many in the Christian West were looking at Nazi Germany and calling it the "New Islam."

Bruce, naturally, fails to cite a single time that ever happened, so I spent a little time with Google seeing if I could find anyone who ever said that.  Well, how long did you expect me to spend, really, but I found nothing.  Not one single reference to Christians calling Nazism the "New Islam."  But I bet we will be hearing about this pseudo-fact for years now.

Leon H. Wolf, Red State:  "Hugh Hewitt Wants Donald Trump to Grow Hooves and a Tail"

Who's to say that he doesn't already have them?  All the pictures I see of him are from the waist up.

Sally Zelikovsky, American Thinker:  "Evolution of a Trump Supporter...Conservatives and a significant part of the general voting public have tired of the polished, perfectly groomed candidate."

They're tired.  So this time they will go along with a lying, violent bully.  That should be a change for the better.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "CBS News: What Exactly Was The Point Of That AR-15 Segment?"

Well, since Matt doesn't seem to understand this, let me try to explain it.  The people at CBS were upset that 50 people were killed by a lunatic with a weapon that neither he nor any civilian should be allowed to own.  Hard to understand when you don't give a damn about those dead people, because they were gay.

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall  "Oh My: Hillary Clinton Has Turned Up The Sass On Twitter"

The sass.  As opposed to the mature, straight talking we get from Trump.  What can you say?

Streiff, Red State:  "McCain Is Right About Orlando"

That would be McCain saying that Obama is directly responsible for the Orlando shooting.  Mr. Streiff, you are a sick, disgusting excuse for a human.

Ian Hanchett, Breitbart:  "…COMPARING ISLAMIC TERROR TO OKLAHOMA CITY ‘A FALSE EQUIVALENCY,’ CHRISTIAN GROUPS AREN’T TRYING TO GET NUCLEAR WEAPONS"

No.  "Christian" groups are, however, trying to take over a government that has 4,000 of them.

Awr Hawkins, Breitbart:  "Fox News Should Focus on Keeping Terrorists from Guns, Not the Other Way Around"

Huh?

Enough already.  More soon.

Trump and the Indians

I want to recommend a very good article in today's Los Angeles Times, about Donald Trump's behavior toward one minority group, native Americans.  Here is a small excerpt, but it is worth reading in its entirety:

“When I have to sit here and listen to people saying that everything is just peachy-dory, it is not, folks. It is going to blow,” Trump warned. There was no way, he said, that “an Indian chief is going to tell ‘Joey Killer’ to please get off his reservation.”

He also accused a federally recognized tribe, the Mashantucket Pequots, of being fakes.

“They don’t look like Indians to me,” he declared...

Donald Trump testifies about casinos, Native Americans and the mob on Oct. 5, 1993, in front of the House Native American Affairs Subcommittee.

The hearing previewed a style, tone and vocabulary that have become familiar in Trump’s improbable political rise. Racially and culturally loaded rhetoric has been Trump’s constant weapon this election, from kick-starting his campaign by labeling Mexican immigrants as drug-carrying rapists, to citing an Indiana-born judge’s Mexican heritage to attack his fairness, or repeating his call this week to ban Muslims from entering the country as an answer to terrorism."

There's lots more, and it draws a picture of a very despicable human being.  I guess most of us know that already, but we need to be fortified against the billions that are about to be spent convincing us otherwise.

The Press Does Their Usual Job

I want to bring your attention to this just released study from Harvard's Shorenstein Center, dealing with the treatment of the candidates by the press.  Trump's abominable behavior in the last few weeks has led to some highly visible negative coverage by the press, but do not believe that this indicates that the mainstream media intend to do their job in the upcoming Presidential contest. Here's a sample of what they found; first about Trump:

"When critics have accused journalists of fueling the Trump bandwagon, members of the media have offered two denials. One is that they were in watchdog mode, that Trump’s coverage was largely negative, that the “bad news” outpaced the “good news.” The second rebuttal is that the media’s role in Trump’s ascent was the work of the cable networks—that cable was “all Trump, all the time” whereas the traditional press held back.

Neither of these claims is supported by the evidence. Figure 2 shows the news balance in Trump’s coverage during the invisible primary. As can be seen, Trump’s coverage was favorable in all of the news outlets we studied. There were differences from one outlet to the next but the range was relatively small, from a low of 63 percent positive or neutral in The New York Times to a high of 74 percent positive or neutral in USA Today. Across all the outlets, Trump’s coverage was roughly two-to-one favorable."

Or, in a graphic from the study:
The press coverage of this miserable bullying charlatan has ranged from two thirds to three quarters positive.  Things are different with Hillary:

"For her part, Clinton might have wished that the Democratic race received even less attention than it did, given that her coverage was the least favorable of the leading contenders, Democratic and Republican. Month after month, as Figure 6 indicates, her coverage was more negative than positive. There was only one month in the whole of 2015 where the tone of her coverage was not in the red and, even then, it barely touched positive territory. During the first half of the year, excluding neutral references, it averaged three to one negative statements over positive statements...Whereas media coverage helped build up Trump, it helped tear down Clinton. Trump’s positive coverage was the equivalent of millions of dollars in ad-buys in his favor, whereas Clinton’s negative coverage can be equated to millions of dollars in attack ads, with her on the receiving end."

And again a graphic from the study:
An immense imbalance toward portraying her in a negative light.

I must warn people of a phenomenon that I have observed for numerous elections now, but which I have never seen mentioned by a single other person, left or right.  It has been customary for the press to have a brief period before the conventions when they make a feint of presenting some kind of modestly honest coverage of the candidates, before shifting back to their unrelenting support of the Republican, no matter what an incompetent, lying con man he clearly is.  This is done so that, in later years, this can be cited as some sort of proof that the press was even-handed.  In fact, this period represents the point at which committed, politically involved people have virtually all made their choices, and politically uninvolved, low information voters are still tuned out.  It is a safe time to pretend to be fair, before getting back to their flacking for the party of the rich; do not delude yourself into thinking that anything different is going to happen this time around, no matter how horrible a Trump Presidency would be for the country.

Antarctic CO2 Hit 400 PPM for First Time in 4 Million Years

Nothing to see here.  Just move along.

Too Tired

Well, at this point, just about everyone is saying what I have been saying since at least the Reagan administration.  I've repeated it so many times, and today I just don't have the motivation to say it again.  Now, it is clear exactly where the Republican tantrum is designed to lead us, and I don't have any patience for anyone that denies the truth.

Think Trump is Just an Accident?

Here's a fascinating excerpt from the Washington Post (behind a paywall) that I saw this morning at Daily Kos, quoting that celebrated maverick and media darling, John McCain:

"Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the elder Republican statesman, said President Obama was “directly responsible” for the terror attack in Orlando due to his failure to combat the rise of the Islamic State terror group.

“Barack Obama is directly responsible for it, because when he pulled everybody out of Iraq, al-Qaeda went to Syria, became ISIS, and ISIS is what it is today thanks to Barack Obama’s failures,” McCain said.

“He pulled everybody out of Iraq, and I predicted at the time that ISIS would go unchecked, and there would be attacks on the United States of America,” he said. “It’s a matter of record, so he is directly responsible.”

I have said for quite a while here that Trump is not some accidental occurrence, but that he is a totally predictable outcome of the hatred and lust for violence that the Republican party has been knowingly generating for decades.  And I know that I don't have to tell you this, because I know that most of the people that come here agree with me.  But now, with a Republican who is universally hailed as one of the reasonable voices in the Republican party openly parroting Trump's most disgusting subversive lie, I never again want anyone to tell me that there is a single honest, sane person in the Republican party.  Even the ones who appear slightly less extreme, like Rubio or Kasich, or, you might have thought, McCain, are dishonest con men who are doing nothing but trying to carve out a niche for themselves, saying whatever they think will give them a constituency.

Well, I know all that, so I'm not sure why this latest behavior of McCain's came as a shock to me, but it did.  I couldn't have imagined that this guy, who has been personally savaged by Trump, could be so low as to stoop to this kind of malignant lie, to support Trump's candidacy. But there it is.  Be as cynical as you want; you will never be cynical enough to really see the Republicans for what they are.

A little more:  I should have added to this account something which many people do not seem to know, but which John McCain knows as well as he knows his own name:  The agreement to remove US troops from Iraq was made not by Obama but by George W. Bush. When Obama was elected, he tried to renegotiate the agreement, but the Iraqis would not agree.  So, not only was McCain guilty of a contemptible smear of Obama, it was a lie too.

And while we are on the subject, this is not the first time McCain has cravenly sided with a Presidential candidate after that person had viciously attacked him; Bush subjected McCain to some absolutely abominable racist smears in 2000, after which McCain, like a good little Republican, took the kick in the face and got right back in line.

A Frightening Read

I'm not a fan of twitter, which reduces everything to 140 character sound bites, but it does have its uses, and this is one of them, and an absolutely horrifying account.  It is a series of tweets from a person attending a Trump rally, published at Crooks and Liars.  Nothing I have seen really reveals the violent dementia that Trump is fostering, and that the Republican party has spent decades building. As you know, I follow right wing politics closely, with a very cynical attitude, but I was deeply frightened by what things like this portend for the future.  Please take the time to read it.
Update:  I've now seen this reposted a number of places.  It has horrified everyone who reads it.  As people know, I have been chronicling the movement of the right toward racist nationalism, i.e. fascism or if you must, Nazism, for a long time now, but this really made me wonder just how close we have come.  Again, I urge you to read it.  There may be no more important political post that I've read in this long, sickening year.

Sovereign Citizen, Up to the Usual

With all the attention being directed toward the mass murder in Orlando, this could be easily missed:  A self-described Sovereign Citizen, Erick Shute, today murdered three of his neighbors, with whom he had been involved in some sort of property dispute.  Shute ambushed the three , shooting from behind a tree, while they were clearing brush on a road near his property.  He has indicated that he intends to plead self defense.  We'll see how much luck he has with that.

Shute appears to also be the lead singer of the band Pyrexia, which plays something called "brutal death metal."  Care for a sample?

Sweet, huh?

I'm not going to say too much more about this, but it has been my habit to try to make a record of the behavior of these violent lunatics, who have been identified by the FBI as our country's greatest terrorism threat.

Significant Update:  I want to direct you to this article, from the ADL, detailing this guy's deep, and longstanding, role in various aspects of classic right wing lunacy.  Seems that, besides being a Sovereign Citizen, he was a fan of militias, including the Bundys, an anti-tax screamer and a director of death threats at various government employees.  I hope (fat chance, huh?) that Republicans will realize that if it hadn't been for their crushing any ability of the government to deal with right wing terrorists, this guy might have been in prison, where he belonged, and those three victims would still be alive.

Wingnut Wrapup

Let's just start with mentioning the astounding fact that the legendary Stupidest Man On The Internet, Jim Hoft, a regular denizen of Wingnut Wrapup, after a long career in which, among other miserable behavior, has frequently attacked gay Americans, has come out as gay.  Well, whoopee for you, you lying, disgusting sack of crap.  Too bad you weren't in that night club in Orlando the other day, so we could have been done with your miserable, hate-filled life.

And as for Orlando, most of the Wingnut Wrapup predates the massacre there.  At this point, I can't really face the vomiting forth of the right's hatred, as they delight in the death of fifty people.  I'll get around to this event when there is some clarity about why this guy did what he did.  So onward:

Bulletin from Republican universe:

Mark Davis, Town Hall:  "This Time, Trump's Not the Problem...If there are apologies to be crafted, they should come from every Republican who chose to join the campaign of deception designed to smear Trump as a racist. I expect this from Democrats. There will be no limit to the dishonesty and slanders they will launch in their attempt to drag their corrupt candidate across a November 8 finish line.  But I would have expected more from the people supposedly interested in beating her."

You go with that, Mark.  Let's see how it works out.  A little more from Mark:

"I want him to win. Can his tormentors over this phony Curiel controversy sincerely say the same?"

And exactly why do you want him to win, Mark?  Looking forward to another useless $3 trillion dollar war, or a world wide economic collapse?  Or maybe you work for the North Korean government?

And let's now turn to this forlorn hope:

David Limbaugh, Town Hall:  "Hillary Born a Female, but What Difference, at This Point, Does It Make? Could it be possible that an increasing number of voters are tiring of liberals stuffing identity politics down our throats? True or not, we must keep hope alive."

If that is the basis for your hopes this election season, David, I predict you are going to be sadly disappointed.  More David:

"Besides the left's misguided focus on Clinton's gender, precisely what about Clinton is exciting to anyone other than political scientists fascinated by the establishment's prowess in engineering the requisite level of image fraud to place Clinton in this position?"

Here's what is exciting to me: a chance to avert a depression and a couple more wars.

Streiff, Red State:  "How An Obama Endorsement Of Hillary Clinton Damages The Constitution...If you voted for Obama in 2012, don't bother reading any further. You've already shown that you don't give a rat's ass about the Constitution."

Okay, Streiff, it's your call.  On we go.

Sher Zieve, Renew America:  "Appears Judge Gonzalo Curiel may be the racist...not Trump"

Nya nya nya...not me but you...bounces off me, sticks to you like glue.  Conservative logic at its finest.

Mark Davis, Town Hall:  "This Time, Trump's Not the Problem"

He never was, Mark.  You whole damned party is the problem.

Brandon Morse, Red State:  "Is Google Rigging AutoComplete Searches In Favor Of Clinton’s Campaign?"

Boy, they're breaking out the excuses for losing early this year.

Susan Wright, Red State:  "New Interviews and Statements Regarding Ongoing Investigation Into Benghazi Attack"

"Ongoing investigation."  Ongoing at least until election day.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "White House Admits Hillary Clinton Is Under Criminal Investigation"

I picked this at random from Jim Hoft because virtually every single right wing site I've looked at yesterday and today has carried this story.  Curiously, despite how earth shaking this would be, it seems to have been totally ignored by the mainstream media.  Either a) the entire media are in the tank for Hillary, and are covering up her criminality, or b) right wingers are a lying bunch of jerks. We report, you decide.

Alan Keyes, World Net Daily:  "Election 2016: 2 bad choices with no way out?  Mr. Trump is the ‘Tar Baby’ candidate, set out in the field to lure anger-impaired conservatives into a trap...If I’m right, its aim is to reduce the GOP to a rootless ruin. What’s left of it will be exactly what’s needed to play out the sham of opposing parties in the one-faction dictatorship that has already made a mockery of America’s so-called “two-party” system."

Uh huh.  Tens of millions of Republican voters chose a guy who is  part of a plot to destroy the Republican party, so that Democratic "dictators" can rule unopposed.  Well, it's a theory, anyway.  Luckily, Alan is only half right here. Actually, there is only one bad choice, and one good one.  Unless you think a dictatorship is the answer to our problems, which, unfortunately, most right wingers apparently do.

E. Jeffrey Ludwig, American Thinker:  "Headlines about Hillary being the first woman presidential nominee, or possibly the first woman president, are nothing more or less than public relations and electioneering hype."

Because, I guess, it isn't really true.  Or something.  By the way, when someone only uses the initial of their first name, don't you always wonder what their name is?  I'm guessing it's Execrableliar.

Matthew Boyle, Breitbart:  "EXCLUSIVE: TRUMP VOWS TO FIGHT DEMOCRAT RACISM, SEXISM"

That's nice.  At least it's a small target, so maybe he can handle it.

Alex Swoyer, Breitbart:  "EXCLUSIVE–RADICAL ISLAM EXPERT: CLINTON ‘MOST CORRUPT, FLAWED DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE’ IN HISTORY"

What a "radical Islam expert" knows about it , I don't know, but notice they carefully said "Democratic candidate."  She wouldn't even make the top 20 if they included Republicans.

Robert Davi, Breitbart:  "Let Donald Trump Throw the Long Ball for America, You Self-Defeating Morons"

Okay, Robert, we let you have your say.  Now, back to your nap.

John Hayward, Breitbart:  "Joshua Green: ‘$62 Million in Ads Run Against Trump, Zero in Attack Ads Run Against Clinton’ in Primaries"

That's a bad thing, I guess.  If you are wondering, it's because neither Hillary nor Bernie ran a single negative ad in the entire Democratic primary campaign, while of course, things were a little different on the other side of the aisle, to the tune of $62 million.  Well, don't worry, John, Hillary will make up her inexcusable lapse to run any negative ads pretty soon.  Happy now?

VDare:  "Are Attacks On Trump A “Textbook Example” Of Coordination?"

No, they are a textbook example of sanity.

VDare:  "Trump/La Raza Judge Row Blows Lid On GOP Establishment Plan: Sabotage His Campaign, Wait For 2020"

They should only be that sane.

And just in case you thought there was no depth of humor they couldn't plumb:

Arthur Topham, Renegade Tribune:  "Canada: The New Sodom and Gomorrah?"

And their food is too spicy too.

Renegade Tribune is a fine website, by the way.  Here is one of their informative graphics:

John Hawkins, Town Hall:  "When Did White Men Become The Bad Guys in America?"

Oh, how about 1619, when the first African slaves arrived?

Justin Holcomb, Town Hall:  "Trump: "Clinton Will be the First Presidential Nominee Under Criminal Investigation"

No, Donald, that would be you, in the matter of Trump University.  Once again, Republicans are desperate to accuse Democrats of the same sort of criminality that has been a hallmark of their own party in the (sad to say, too often successful) effort to cloud the issue of their own misconduct.

And two related items, in connection with the comment I made above:

Leon H. Wolff, Red State:  "Trump is Desperately Trying to Block the Release of his Videotaped Deposition in the Trump University Case...

If you thought the documents that were released in the Trump University case was bad, imagine what Trump himself said about the case, under oath, on video. Trump doesn't have to imagine it, he was there. And that's why he is fighting so hard to prevent the release of the tapes to the public."

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "New Film Series Will Reenact Hillary Email Depositions - Starting With Cheryl Mills"

By one of the right's premiere video distorters, Phelam McAteer.  Fight the release of the real Donald Trump videos, and then assemble a phony video of Hillary depositions.  It's their only hope, when they have a real criminal running for President, and all they have to run against is Hillary.

And now, a list of the lying anti-Hillary garbage from one day at Red State:

"New Poll: 6 in 10 Americans Believe (Know) That Hillary Clinton is Lying About Her Emails""White House’s Sad Attempt to “Clarify” Admission of Hillary Clinton Being Under “Criminal Investigation” "Panicked Justice Department Begs To Keep Hillary Email immunity Deal Secret""Google Denies Rigging Search Results In Favor of Clinton’s Campaign""Hillary Clinton Declares That Not a Single American Life Was Lost in Libya""Uh … Watch Hillary Bizarrely Knocked Loopy By Shocking Presence of Reporters with Questions""Green Party Candidate: Trump Sounds Scary But Clinton IS Scary"

And it will go on at every right wing site, from now until, well, probably eight years from now, when they discover that the Democrat running for President in 2024 is the worst monster ever.

Michael Bresciani, Renew America:  "Liberalism: the pathway of demons and deceivers"

Nothing like a reasoned analysis of the issues facing our country.  Demons.  Yeah, that's the problem.

Jeff Jacoby, Town Hall:  "Payday Loans Are A Poor Option. No Payday Loans Would Be Worse"

Legalized theft is bad, but interfering with crooks' ability to make money off of the desperate would be far worse.

Justin Holcomb, Town Hall:  "Trump Renews Ban on Muslims: "We Can't Afford to be Politically Correct Anymore"

We just can't afford humanity these days.  And if there was ever a slogan for today's Republican party, this is it.

Thanks, Omar

Well, Omar Mateen has certainly written his name in the history books.  It is so discouraging to think that a brain-dead jackass like this, motivated by insane religious rage, can do so much damage to our chances to have a sane discussion about what is going on in our country.
So, this Muslim jerk joins forces with the Christian religious jerks in this country, and kills over 50 people because they are gay.  Well, Omar, there is nothing you could do in your now-thankfully terminated life that would have ever done more good for the hate-filled Infidels that people like you claim to be fighting.  Well, that would probably be just fine with you, because the religious fanatics on both sides are hell-bent on having an apocalyptic war, in which both sides are utterly confident they will win, because God is with them.  And the rest of us are left trying to prevent them from having their way, a task made just a little harder because of you.

And make no mistake: this is not about left (Muslim) versus right (Christian,) as people like Trump would have you believe.  It is about right (religion) versus left (sanity.)  And today, religion scored a big victory.

Your Republican Candidate

He loves America, he sure does!
Man, how long can this go on?

__________________________________________________________________

Well, maybe some people are getting it.  Here's a Trump rally in Richmond VA yesterday (photo courtesy of Little Green Footballs) where hardly anyone showed up:
Of course, with the cameras focused solely on the stage, and the people carefully placed behind the stage, Trump spent a couple of minutes raving about how great the crowd was.  Lying right in the faces of his supporters, and no one cared.  Well, I first heard about this on MSNBC, so I guess his behavior has gotten so ludicrous that even the Republican owned press figures they can make more money mocking him than supporting him.

Well, we will just have to see whether they retain the minimal scruples they seem to have discovered, in a few months, as the prospect of another four years of Demon-crats in the White House starts to sink in.

Be Careful What You Ask For

Well, Donald Trump's strategy of dominating the news so he gets tons of free air time without having to pay for it, has been working out great the last week.

How's that going for you, Donald?

He's Nowhere To Be Seen

I saw this pointed out by Driftglass today, and I think it is something that is worth spreading around: The current web page of the Republican party does not contain a single reference to the man who won the race to be their candidate for President.  Check it out if you doubt me.

That has got to be a first.

Wingnut Wrapup

Let's just start off with a good laugh:

David Limbaugh, Town Hall:  "Some Trump supporters will be offended by the suggestion that they want to de-emphasize the Constitution or do not hold Trump to ordinary standards of decency"

Some Trump supporters.  David continues:

"In contrast, when Hillary Clinton recently denounced Trump for buying up properties at depressed values, he didn't defensively scramble to offer some irrelevant excuse. He ridiculed the allegation and affirmed capitalism in one fell swoop. In response to Clinton's claim that he bought properties at low prices to sell at higher prices and make profits, he said, "Who the hell doesn't?" Apart from my issues with Trump, that's how you handle leftist bullying."

Who the hell isn't a greedy bastard that doesn't give a damn about exploiting the misery of others in order to make a profit?  Well, at least nobody that calls themselves a Republican.

Pat Buchanan, Town Hall:  "Hillary Rejects 'America First"

Being as how "me first" is what America was built on.  And how did she do that?

"Clinton contends that a Trump presidency would be a national embarrassment, that his ideas are outside the bipartisan mainstream of U.S. foreign policy, and that he is as contemptuous of our democratic allies as he is solicitous of our antidemocratic adversaries."

Attacking Trump is, apparently, attacking America.  I remember another country that Pat Buchanan admires that had the same conflation of leader and country, even requiring  everyone to take an oath of loyalty to the leader, rather than to the country.  I am guessing that it won't be too long before we hear Trump suggesting that we be forced to do that too.

Leon H. Wolf, Red State:  "Some Honest, Friendly Advice for Hillary Clinton:  My advice to you is this: Never be seen in public again between now and election day. Oh, I know you’re going to have to be seen at a few key points – at the DNC, after the California primaries on Tuesday – but those appearances should be as perfunctory and bland as absolutely possible. When they are done, you should go into a bunker...Here’s the thing you must realize by now: this election is a race to see which candidate can make the American people hate them more, and the more the American people see you, the more you help Trump."

Funny that Leon came up with this really well-meant advice just two days after Hillary showed that she could cut Trump into mincemeat in a single speech.  No More Of That, Hillary!  You're only hurting yourself!

"Anyway, just some friendly advice. I’m sure you probably won’t take it, but my conscience is clean."

What conscience?

William J. Watkins, American Thinker:  "The Dark Side of Brown"

I didn't actually read this article.  I suspect it was about the Conservative answer to "A whiter shade of pale."

Charles W. Street, Breitbart:  "Obama’s Jobs Report Worst in 6 Years"

No mention of the fact that it was the 68th straight month of job growth, totalling about 12 million jobs in total.  Remember before Obama took over from the Republicans, when we were losing 800,000 jobs a month?  If you do, you are one fact ahead of Charles, who seems to have forgotten that, conveniently.

Awr Hawkings, Breitbart:  "UCLA Shooting: Another Proof Universal Background Checks Don’t Work"

See, if a gun law doesn't stop every single murder that anyone tries to commit, it is worthless and needs to be repealed.  By the same reasoning, we should repeal all laws against burglary, because these laws are on the books in every State, and people still commit burglaries.  Wait, forget I said that- I don't want to give the libertarians any ideas.

Edward Harsanyi, National Review Online:  "The ‘War On Salt’ Is Bad Policy Based on Bad Science"

The war on salt?  Is that like the War on Christmas?  Damn those liberals, all they ever do is go to war.

And now, another scandal that's going absolutely nowhere:

"Dixie Chicks Sing In Front of Picture of Trump With Devil Horns"

Man, that is really an outrage, right?  A rock band mocks Donald Trump!  It's time to call off the election and just put Trump in the White House right now!

Streiff, Red State:  "Hillary Clinton’s Failing Health Is On Display Yet Again"

Ha ha.  Hillary coughed! And they have a picture of it!  She's dying! She's infected! Run away from her as fast as possible!

Paula Bolyard, PJ Media:  "Utah High School Biology Test Asks Students if Mother Should Have an Abortion...The right answer isn't one of the choices."

The "right answer," according to Paula, of course, is to spout some right wing Christian nonsense.  The actual real right answer would be "You have no damned business asking this question on a biology test, and if you ask it again, I will punch you in the mouth."

Wayne Lusvardi, American Thinker:  "Trump is Correct about the California Drought"

Any lie, no matter how brazen.

Streiff, Red State:  "BOOK CLAIM: Hillary Clinton Is A Violent And Erratic Psychopath"

Streiff isn't saying, he's just reporting what some other vicious, hate-filled liar said.  But really, if she is not a violent and erratic psychopath, who will vote for Trump, who actually comes pretty close to that definition?

Bruce Walker, American Thinker:  "How the Left Is Destroying Science...Why has this happened?  ...treating the Judeo-Christian religious tradition as poppycock means that the vital check on dishonesty that comes from fear of a morally serious God is nonexistent in the minds of many scientists."

Yes ,you see, if scientists don't believe in Jesus, they will have no reason to tell the truth about anything.  It is inconceivable to people like Bruce that anyone would do something, just because it is the right thing to do.  Of course, that is the way all right wing "Christians" feel- if they aren't threatened themselves, they would never behave, so they just assume that everyone else is just as morally bankrupt as they are.  A religion with a vicious, vindictive God only appeals to people who can't be made to act decently any other way.

Jan LaRue, American Thinker:  "Obama Collaborates with Madness"

They're going with Trump, and they talk about madness?  Well, just one more example of blaming the other guy for your faults, to muddy the waters.  Jan continues:

"Obama perverts the "Golden Rule" by omitting that God, not Obama, defines what is good"

God, as determined by people like Jan, who find that God had an opinion on all sorts of things; abortion, the history of the earth, gay marriage, prayer in the schools, and on and on, that God accidentally forgot to say anything about.  Thanks to you, Jan, for helping us out.

Evelyn Dreyfuss, American Thinker:  "Self-flagellating liberals beat the tom-toms for their boxer"

That, of course, would be Muhammad Ali.  Well, at least Evelyn admits that he was our boxer and not hers.  I don't need to go farther here; you can imagine what racist lies she comes up with in this piece. Man, this country is falling apart, or at least half of it.

Joseph Farah, World Net Daily:  "An urgent message 'I never wanted to write'

But of course, he did.  The message (get ready for it-I bet you never expected this:)  Send Joseph money!  He really wishes you would have done this without him having to ask, but you didn't, but it's come to this.  Sad, really.

Phyllis Schlafly, World Net Daily:  "Put Trump's wall in the GOP platform...The promise to build a wall along America’s southern border with Mexico has carried Donald Trump to his remarkable victory in the Republican primaries for president. Now it’s time to put that promise into the official Republican Party Platform."

And I mean, why not?  It's already filled with a whole pack of things to pander to the ignorant, which we know that they have no intention of ever doing, so why not add one more?  Couldn't hurt, really.

World Net Daily:  "'Demonic' opening for tunnel has lesbian sex"

Don't think I'm going to waste your time trying to explain what this was about.

Cortney O'Brien:  "Iran Rejects US Congress’s Request to Inspect Nuclear Facilities as ‘Publicity Stunt’

Because three Republican congressmen are really going to know what they are looking at when they tour a nuclear plant.  Guess what?  It is a publicity stunt.  Sad when we can trust Iran more than Republicans.

Kimberley Ross, Red State:  "Congratulations, Hillary. You Have A Uterus."

Another comment I think I will just let speak for itself.

Leon H. Wolf, Red State:  "RUMORS: Scott Walker Would Accept Nomination if Trump Implodes Before Convention"

Rumors?  Who are you trying to kid? The fucking guy, whose Presidential run imploded almost immediately, would crawl on his knees through Syria to get the nomination. As would dozens of other worthless Republican hacks we could name.

Streiff, Red State:  "BREAKING. Hugh Hewitt Calls For Convention To Reject Trump"

Jeb, are you still awake?  Pull that stake out of your heart- the country may be calling on you yet.

Streiff, Red State:  "Donald Trump Isn’t Against Political Correctness. He Is Political Correctness."

Because it's so politically correct to hate black people and Hispanic people.  Anyone who buys that claim really needs a stay at a Chinese re-eduction camp.

Gina Miller, Renew America:  "Barack Obama (or whatever his name is) continues to stand firmly in demented opposition to the God of all creation."

Whatever.

Kevin Fobbs, Renew America: "Will Hillary's election chances crash if Sanders stages contested convention?"

Keep hoping, buddy.  It's all you've got.  While we're on the subject, do you think the Republicans' election chances will crash if they nominate an ignorant, racist bully with delusions of grandeur?  No, that's just business as usual, I guess.

Newsmax:  "Hailing a First, Clinton Declares Herself Democratic Nominee"

She declared herself the Democratic nominee!  She DECLARED HERSELF!!!  And only because she had enough pledged delegates to win the nomination!  Abominable!  She's a dictator, just like Obummer!

And meanwhile, on the other side of the fence:

Newsmax:  "Donald Trump Plans 'Major Speech' to Spill Dirt on Clintons"

A MAJOR SPEECH!!!  Not to spell out how he plans to solve the country's problems, not to talk about how he is qualified to be President, but to spread lies about his opponent.  Well, that should be helpful.

Newsmax:  "Experts: Clinton Emails Could Have Compromised CIA Names"

They could have.  They COULD HAVE!!!  They could have also compromised the location of the secret facility where Santa manufactures his toys.  What kind of President would do that?

Well, more real soon.  Because there is no way they are going to stop churning this stuff out.
