A Palestinian Story

You can find in the New York Times today, the story of Muqdad Salah, a Palestinian man whose life has much to tell us about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Mr. Salah was recently welcomed home after about twenty years in an Israeli prison.  Why did he end up there?

"It has been seven months since Mr. Salah was welcomed before dawn by a cacophonous crowd in this village of 4,000 near the Palestinian financial hub of Nablus. It has been two decades since he killed Israel Tenenbaum, 72, a Holocaust survivor and security guard at a beach hotel 20 miles away in Netanya, hitting him on the side of the head with a metal rod.

Israeli court records show Mr. Tenenbaum was found about 7:30 a.m. on June 14, 1993, lying on his back in a bed near the hotel bar, a pillow covering his bloodied face. According to the 29-page verdict convicting him of murder, Mr. Salah told investigators that he and another man had gone to Netanya in search of a Palestinian suspected of collaborating with Israel, and happened upon the guard.

The other man said, “Let’s kill him so that we did not make the trip for nothing,” the verdict quotes Mr. Salah having said. “Only when we saw the guard sleeping did we decide to kill him as a protest against the occupation.”

Let's be clear about this:  Salah and his friend did not engage in a heroic struggle.  They beat an innocent 72 year old man to death with an iron rod, because they couldn't find the guy they really wanted to kill.  This was an act of brutality of the sort that we generally associate with the most violent street gangs, not with freedom fighters.  It was not a political act in any sense.  And how was he treated when he returned home?

"...these middle-aged men — 69 of them convicted of murder, 54 escaping life sentences — have begun to rebuild disrupted lives. They are earning their first driver’s licenses, leveraging $50,000 grants from the Palestinian Authority to build apartments or start businesses, searching for wives and struggling to start families.

Mr. Salah was flush with more than $100,000 saved from the Palestinian Authority’s monthly payments to prisoners’ families.

The 78 released prisoners have complained to the Palestinian Authority that the $50,000 grants and monthly payments — Mr. Salah gets about $1,800 — are not enough to buy apartments."

So, let me get this straight:  Mr. Salah came out of prison in possession of $150,000 courtesy of the Palestinian government- approximately 116 years of the average per-capita Palestinian income (as of 2008- the latest figure I found in my brief search.)  He is now receiving an annual payment of $1800.00, again, significantly more than the average Palestinian income.  All this for beating to death a 72 year old man.  And he complains that it is not enough!

Because he is a hero!  With awards and medals!

“We receive them as national heroes, we give them awards and medals, and then we leave them to face their problems alone,” said Munqeth Abu Atwan, who works at the ministry. “Can you tell a hero that you need a psychiatrist, you need to participate in a rehabilitation program?”

And here is the problem- a culture that considers a cold-blooded murderer a hero, and treats him as such, enriching him so as to encourage others to emulate him.

And by the way, Israel bought into this too-  They seem to have regarded him as a terrorist instead of the psychopathic criminal that he actually is.  Regardless of the pressure put on them, they must realize the tremendous damage they do by releasing crazed criminals to receive hero's welcomes and lifelong incomes from their fellow Jew-haters.  Salah should have been released to live out his days in poverty, in some rat-infested SRO hotel, the way we treat vicious killers who have completed their sentences here, not sent home to a life of fame and ease.

The Republican House's Very Good Week

Well, at this point, after over fifty useless votes to repeal Obamacare, the Republicans in the House of Representatives have finally turned their attention to other pressing matters.

Jobs, jobs, jobs, as they have promised so many times to focus on like a laser?  No, this:

Here are two bills passed on a virtual party-line vote last week, and one more that is coming up this week

The ""Ensuring Public Involvement in the Creation of National Monuments Act,"  which takes away from President Obama the right which every President since Teddy Roosevelt has had, to create new national monuments.  A hundred years of very well established precedent was not enough to block this perverse measure, enacted because Obama actually used his power to create a new national monument in California, and of course, a black man has no right to do what white Presidents are allowed to do, particularly in the Liberal nightmare that is California, so his behavior is an outrage requiring punishment.

The "Preventing Government Waste and Protecting Coal Mining Jobs in America" bill, which would make it legal for coal mining companies to dump their toxic waste in streams, rivers and lakes. No, really, that's what this bill does. Really. The jobs it would generate would be in the emergency response industry, I guess.  Stopping "government waste" by letting industry generate more real waste: it makes sense to Republicans, I guess.  Or, at least it does when they see those energy industry purchased campaign ads on their behalf on TV.

And coming this week:  the "Weather Forecasting Improvement Act of 2013."  This act "improves" weather forecasting by essentially forbidding the National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research from spending any money researching global warming.  Well, here's Green Eagle's forecast:  Keep this up, Republicans, and in a few decades we will all be dead.

It's a long tradition among Republicans to give their piggish, corrupt legislation names which imply the exact opposite of what they actually do.  Well, here are three great examples.  This phenomenon provides proof that they know that their behavior is diametrically opposed to the wishes of the voters, so as usual, they can't even name a bill without lying.  Otherwise, they would be called "The let the Koch Brothers screw us again act," "The pollution is good for you act" and "The Let's Stick it to Obama One More Time act."  Why don't they get it over with and pass "The You Are All Slaves Now, So Shut Up Act."

Luckily none of these things has a chance of making it through the Senate or past Obama, but don't we have a right to expect more than this from Congress?

Next week, back to Benghazi, I guess.

God, People Are Sick

Here's the latest news about Jahi McMath, who you may remember from the news a few weeks ago:

"Jahi McMath spends much of her time like any other teenage girl: she sits cross-legged in bed, listens to Rihanna and Beyonce on her iPod, and gets a manicure and pedicure every Friday.

This according to mom Nailah Winkfield, who yesterday gave her first interviews since Jahi was moved out of Children's Hospital Oakland."

She's just like any other teenage girl, except for one thing, of course:  She's dead.

The people who encourage this sort of thing for their own political and religious reasons, and prevent her family from moving on with their lives, are among the most malicious human beings on this earth.  And the last major outbreak of this sort of thing, the Terry Schiavo disgrace, enlisted people ready to capitalize on her family's tragedy, who reached all the way up to the Republican President at the time, and many Republican members of Congress.

Never a word of apology from a single one of them when Terry Schiavo finally died, after being exploited for years, and an autopsy revealed, just as her doctors had predicted all along, that her brain had liquefied.  And there will be no word of apology when Jahi McMath is finally left to rest in peace, after an expense of millions of dollars to maintain an appearance of life.

It is really hard to imagine how there could be lower specimens of human beings, and yet the lunatic American populace continues to vote them into office.  We're cooked if we don't find a way to damage this sort of person very badly.

I Can't Resist This

Cartoon from Daily Kos- it pretty much says it all:

The Fat Man Sinks Some More

So, Chris Christie's story about the George Washington bridge closings has evolved further.  It's now gone from "I never knew nuttin' about it" to "I never knew about it until after it started" and now to, "well, someone told me about it beforehand, but I forgot."

What did people think when they voted a person who makes it onto the cover of Time magazine and his picture still looks like a mugshot?  I mean, I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but if the cover has pictures of half-naked, tied up women being beaten by guys in Nazi uniforms, I think you can pretty confidently guess that it's not about microbiology.

What Obama Should Have To Say About Defense Spending

And it's what I have been insisting that he should have said the day after he was sworn in:

"It's the government's job to provide you with the best defense possible.  Unfortunately, due to three trillion dollars lost in a Republican war of aggression, and countless more trillions squandered in Republican giveaways to the rich, we no longer have the money to provide Americans with the best defense, so you are going to have to accept a world in which you are in more danger, so that rich people can wallow in unheard of riches.

The people of the United States allowed the Republicans to play on their greed and their xenophobia, and this is the price that we all are going to have to pay.  But do not forget, the number of Americans killed on 9-11 is dwarfed by the number of people killed by guns in this country, or the number killed because the government is unable to stop the killer drug tobacco from being openly sold.  It is Republicans, on behalf of the corporations that own them, that prevent anything from being done about these things, which impose vast social and economic costs on all of us; so there is no reason to believe Republicans when they engage in their endless baiting about Islamic terror.

You, the American people, bought your new lives of greater risk, by supporting politicians who care about nothing but where their next contribution from the rich is coming from.  Maybe next time, you will think twice before buying into the Republicans' corporate lies, but I doubt it.  Good night, and may God bless you.  You're going to need it."

Things That Are Now Legal

In the Republican paradise of Georgia, anyway, the following would be perfectly legal:

A hundred or so Islamic men openly carrying firearms assemble at the Atlanta airport, and stand around directly in front of the security area leading to the planes.

At this point, under a law just enacted by Georgia Republicans, of course with the intent that this privilege only applies to white Christians, these Islamic men would have done not one thing illegal.  The authorities would be barred from interfering with them in any way.

It's likely, of course, that airport security would arrest or kill all of them, and none of them would ever see the outside of a prison (or a pine box) again.  This would be fine under the well-known Constitutional principle that white people can do whatever they damned please which, as Federal law, would obviously supersede any State law on those occasions when it benefits inferior races.

So, thank heaven, we don't have to worry about it after all.  That's a relief, huh?

I Take On Nate Silver

So now, Nate Silver, along with a whole lot of people, is predicting that the Republicans are going to take back the Senate.  I am not so sure and (of course) I am about to tell you why.

First of all, let me remind you that polling has never been that predictive of electoral results before around September of an election year.  That is because the "swing voters" that decide every election are mostly so apathetic and ignorant that they don't even start putting in their minimal effort to figure out who to vote for until then.

But that is not my real point.  Elections are about more than numbers.  Here is something which, of course, no one, including Nate Silver, is talking about:  The Republican need to pander to their base to keep them on board has, in the last few elections, inevitably resulted in regular outbreaks of lunacy and hatred from its candidates.  Do they think that this election will be any different?  Do they think that they can get through this election without more talk about the 47%, and more racist dogwhistles?  I doubt it, and I am willing to predict that there will be at least a couple of outbreaks of ugliness from Republican candidates between now and November.

Of course, it is up to the Dems to capitalize on these accidental revelations of the Republicans' real nature, by convincing people that the are representative of the party as a whole (which they are.)  That, of course, depends on Democratic "strategists" making the right moves.  Sad to say, that is all too unlikely. But the opportunity will be there, so the election is still the Democrats' to lose.  Which they may happily do; just don't blame it on Obamacare or Libya or anything else but the long-standing refusal of Democratic politicians to tell the truth, when they are afraid the Republicans will be really mean to them for doing so.

Nothing But Corruption

Anyone who followed the utterly disingenuous behavior of the five right wing Justices on the Supreme Court yesterday must be painfully aware that they have absolutely no intention of deciding this case on its merits, and have predetermined to rule for the Republicans, regardless of the dishonesty it takes to do so.

And even reliably left wing, intelligent blogs won't let themselves see the whole horrible truth:

"Kagan Throws Scalia's Own Religious Liberty Arguments Back In His Face...During oral arguments Tuesday about the validity of Obamacare's birth control mandate, Justice Elena Kagan cleverly echoed Justice Antonin Scalia's past warning that religious-based exceptions to neutral laws could lead to "anarchy."

Kagan's remarks might sound familiar to the legally-trained ear. In a 1990 majority opinion in Employment Division v. Smith, Scalia alluded to the same examples of what might happen if religious entities are permitted to claim exemptions from generally applicable laws. He warned that "[a]ny society adopting such a system would be courting anarchy."

Do these people (including Justice Kagan) think that pointing out the inconsistency of their arguments will change what they are about to do or even make them hesitate for a second before engaging in their latest act of dishonesty?  Remember that these are the guys that abandoned their supposedly sacred doctrine of States' rights to put George W. Bush in the White House, and who abandoned the entire history of American jurisprudence to make a ruling enabling the rich to buy elections.  No, this issue is something that Republican neanderthals intend to run on this year, so their corrupt Supreme Court Justices are not going to let it wither, merely because it is antithetical both to their own previous declarations and the entire history of American Jurisprudence.

This is corruption on a massive scale, in the single place that this country can least afford to harbor the corrupt.  It is so obvious that it is painful that no one except a few fringe characters like Green Eagle are willing to state the simple truth.  It is one more fruit of the decades-long campaign by the rich to destroy our democracy.  The last time that something like this occurred, the result was a depression, which awoke enough Americans that the Democrats were able to do the right thing to set the country back on track.  This time these evil people have learned from their mistakes.  They let a Democratic administration put just enough band-aids on the problem to prevent the American people from waking up, so no one would really try to stop the only substantial threat to our country that exists in the world today.  And on they go, eating away at the pathetic remnants of democracy that still exist.

Washington Mudslide Tragedy Continues

Scientists continue to be completely baffled about what could have caused an entire mountainside to collapse in the State of Washington, resulting in numerous casualties.

Who knows if this mystery will ever be solved.

The Oil Con Continues

The next step in the energy companies' rape of the American public is just around the corner.  Remember the incessant claims from Republicans and a few corrupt Democrats that the United States was so short of meeting its energy requirements that we needed to do away with regulation after regulation on the oil industry, or face economic disaster here at home?  How could you forget that, since it has been an almost daily fact of our political life for decades now.  So, bit by bit the government, bashed into submission, gave in, and let the oil companies do just about anything they wanted, all with the understanding that this was all about protecting our domestic supply of energy.

Well, folks, the joke is on you.  Now that their billions in campaign donations have assured that they can do whatever they want to extract oil and gas from our land, the energy industry is ready to move on to the next inevitable step in their war of greed:

"The energy industry is pushing to lift government curbs and tap newly accessible reserves to create an unprecedented era of exports.

Five years ago, the idea of exporting U.S. gas and oil was not only unheard of, but, in the case of most U.S. crude oil, illegal. At that time, the United States was facing a future of dwindling domestic supplies and vulnerability to foreign producers. It was anxiously building facilities to import natural gas, worried about ever-higher prices and building much of its foreign policy on the need to secure energy supplies.

But U.S. energy production has boomed with the technological revolution of hydraulic fracturing, known as fracking, and the ability to tap newly accessible massive reserves...Now, the U.S. energy industry is pushing for a new era of exports.

The oil and gas industry is pushing the Obama administration and Congress to legalize crude exports and speed up the process of licensing gas export terminals. Industry officials argue that the U.S. is now in a position of economic strength and national security that will be further enhanced by energy exports. Foreign markets for U.S. crude and natural gas will spur additional production, create thousands of new jobs, enable the U.S. to counter hostile foreign energy powers and generate billions of dollars in wealth, according to the American Petroleum Institute. Already, the U.S. is exporting 3 million barrels of gasoline per day."

So now, all of that oil and gas, produced at great environmental expense to the American people, and actually subsidized by them in the name of national economic security, was about nothing but profits for oil billionaires.  We let them produce the oil for our use; now they are going to sell it overseas (also with our collaboration) and leave us to pay the bill.

And what do we get?  "Thousands of new jobs," a pathetic number in an economy that needs millions of them, in return for "billions of dollars of wealth," not one cent of which will go to the American people, an inevitable string of environmental disasters, and not one thing to add to our energy independence- in fact, by allowing these companies to sell their oil and gas overseas, we will be actually damaging our future energy independence, an obvious fact that no one wants to mention.  But we will be generating "billions of dollars of wealth!"

And anyone who has paid any attention to our national political scene knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that the government approval for this gigantic theft is just around the corner, and in this era of Citizens United only its timing is in question.

Wingnut Wrapup

The screaming crazy is reaching the upper echelons these days.  To start today, here are a few examples from our leaders on the right:

First this scientific comment: from Michael Peroutka, the founder of the “Institute on the Constitution” and a former presidential candidate of the Constitution Party:
“...creation occurred about 6000 years ago. So the whole idea of evolution and that the Earth is…millions and millions of years old is absolutely antithetical to America …“What I am saying is that the promotion of evolution is an act of disloyalty to America… What I’m saying is that there is no way you could promote or believe in evolution and sing ‘God Bless America’ during the 7th inning stretch.”
Let's just leave aside the fact that if you sung 'God Bless America' during the seventh inning stretch, you'd be rather at odds with the rest of us, who would be singing 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game."  In fact, let's just forget the whole damned thing, if we can.

Now, Congressman David Vitter, who we last remember being re-elected by the good Republicans of Louisiana after having been caught in a diaper, consorting with prostitutes:
"I think the Koch Brothers are two of the most patriotic Americans in the history of the Earth...I'll be honest with you, God Bless the Koch brothers," Vitter added. "They're fighting for our freedoms."
Fighting for our freedoms by trying to destroy all of them.  Remember that Vietnam war line about "we had to destroy the village in order to save it?"
Florida Congressman Dennis Ross:   "I wouldn’t say [climate change] doesn’t require action. I think personal responsibility, if I could legislate personal responsibility, you wouldn’t have to worry about climate change...it all starts with one thing: Personal responsibility. And that’s where we have to go. It’s an unfortunate thing that we can’t legislate."
You are personally responsible for the damage that energy companies do to our environment, get it, buddy?  So when civilization comes to an abrupt end in an apocalyptic nightmare of violence, it's your fault!

For example, take this story:
"Duke Energy Caught Intentionally Dumping 61 Million Gallons Of Coal Waste Into North Carolina Water...North Carolina regulators on Thursday cited Duke Energy for illegally and deliberately dumping 61 million gallons of toxic coal ash waste into a tributary of the Cape Fear River, which provides drinking water for several cities and towns in the state.
The incident marks the eighth time in less than a month that the company has been accused of violating environmental regulations..."
That was caused by YOUR failure to take personal responsibility for dumping of coal ash into the Cape Fear river.  Because it can't be the corporations' personal fault because corporations aren't people, idiot!  Oh wait, they are people.  Just not the sort of people who are legally responsible for their behavior.

I just want to make a comment about garbage like the above:  It has been occurring to me more and more lately that there is a deliberate, systematic attempt on the part of Republicans to say things so outrageous and disgusting that liberals just can't let them go unchallenged, thus wasting immense time with this garbage, and obscuring the real threat the country faces from the financiers of the Republican party.  At least I hope they don't really believe any of this, or we are truly screwed.

Well, on to our normal targets here at Green Eagle:
Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Russia Stifles Free Speech, Pressures Editor of Independent Website to Resign"
Reasonable to object to that sort of behavior, huh?  Compare it to this:
Daily Kos:  "Michele Bachmann Calls for the Imprisonment of Harry Reid and Daily Kos (No, Really!)"
No comment from Cortney on that.

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "The Trauma of Abortion Very Real in ‘The Tenth’s’ Fictional Realm"

The "trauma of abortion" is "very real" in a work of fiction.  Not so much in real life, but then when have right wing views been anything but fiction?
John C. Goodman, Town Hall:  "The topic du jour on the left these days is inequality. But why does the left care about inequality? Do they really want to lift those at the bottom of the income ladder? Or are they just looking for one more reason to increase the power of government?"
I'm not even going to call this a lie.  In fact, it's just projection.  No Republican on earth can imagine doing anything that benefits someone else, and they are sure as hell not going to admit that there is anyone around who does care about the welfare of others.
Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "What's Going on at Air Force Academy? God's Word vs. Pentagon's Word"
Two things which seem to be at odds.  Sorry to tell you this, but when you are at the Air Force Academy, the Pentagon's word rules.  Don't like it?  Fine.  Transfer to Bob Jones University, where you are free to be as ignorant and stupid as you want.
Streiff, Red State:  "Cold War Revisionism and the Defense of Obama’s Ukraine Blunder"
This article was so long and boring, I never did figure out what the guy's point was, other than what I got from the headline:  Somehow, it's all Obama's fault.  Why?  Who knows?
Bill Straub, PJ Media:  "Tee Time: The Optics of Presidential Vacations...Bush and Reagan spent more days away from the White House than Obama, but also set up satellite offices in their ranch homes."
Maybe that's because Bush and Reagan were rich guys who could afford to have a ranch home, and Obama isn't.

And now, how about some Nazi craziness and general idiocy:
Laurie Roth, Renew America:  "Obamacare is nothing but "people and gun control" hiding behind "healthcare" widgets. The proposed healthcare is all government rationed and designed to get "chips" into your body for more control and access to your bank accounts. "

Chips in your body. I mean, that's lunacy enough, but where is the Nazi part that Green Eagle promised?
"As in the days of Hitler going after the German citizen's guns with Hitler's Enabling Act in1933, so is Obamacare now."
The enabling act, for the few of you that don't know, authorized Hitler to do anything he wanted without legislative approval.  It had exactly zero to do with gun control, and in fact Hitler later eased gun control in Germany for everyone but Jews. It also is the exact opposite of Obamacare, which was enacted by Congress, not declared to be law by Obama   But then, anything that Democrats do is just like Hitler, right?
"Could it be more than a simple coincidence that Hitler's Enabling Act was signed into law on March 23, 1933, and President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law on March 23, 2010 – both designed to control people, guns, and build a dictatorship. Hmmmm..."

Hmmmm indeed.  At least we finally have a real similarity.  Neither the Enabling Act nor Obamacare had one damned thing to do with guns.
Debra Saunders, Town Hall:  "Debra J. Saunders: Affordable Care Act or War on Conscience?"
Actually, the Affordable Care Act is a War on Those With No Conscience, who are willing to let millions of other people suffer and die without medical care, as long as it doesn't cost themselves a few bucks.
Heather Ginsburg, Town Hall:  "Finally: Mississippi to Start Drug Testing Those Receiving Financial Aid Benefits"
Probably to find out why in hell they are still living in the poorest State in the country.  When are they going to start drug testing Mississippi voters to see why they keep electing such worthless leaders?
Doug Giles, Town Hall:  "Why Some Christians' Kids Blow Off God – and Why Mine Didn't"
Why yours didn't?  Probably because because the time they were five years old, you had filled them so full of hatred and greed that they couldn't think straight.  That's my guess, you smug son of a bitch.
Michael Schaus, Town Hall: "Professor Wants Climate Change “Deniers” Thrown in Jail"
Outrageous!  Me, I'd put them in hospitals for the criminally insane.  Except of course for the ones who are denying climate change because they are getting paid to tell a hideous lie that they know is not true.  Jail for them sounds about right.  And one with no air conditioning, too.
Dinesh D'Souza, Newsmax:  "Dinesh D’Souza: Liberals Silent on My Indictment"
For income tax fraud.  Well, here's one Liberal who won't be silent:  You broke the law- now go to jail.  Satisfied, Dinesh?
David Limbaugh Town Hall:  "Make Democrats Pay for Obamacare and Obamanomics"
As soon as Republicans pay us back the $3 trillion for the Iraq war, and whatever the 2008 crash cost, it's a deal.
Paul Maguire, News With Views:  "The majority of the population in places like America and Europe live in something like a subtle trance state and they do not realize that they have now entered the world of the science fiction movie Minority Report. For decades numerous technologies have been employed that average Americans have no idea exist and if you told them, they would robotically say “conspiracy theory.”
For example, a San Diego-based company Emotient has developed a technology that will allow people to read other people’s emotions. The company developed a Sentiment Analysis prototype app for Google Glass which would allow people who put on the fashionable computerized headset to read the emotions of people around them. Political operatives, advertising people, and even clerks in stores could instantly know your reaction to just about anything.
Ken Denman, CEO of Emotient, said “It’s a breakthrough technology that allows companies to aggregate customer sentiment by processing facial expressions anonymously."
Great news for people with severe Asperger's syndrome.  For the rest of us, there already is a technology for " processing facial expressions anonymously."  Just look at them.
Ed Lasky, American Thinker:  "Obama and The Democrats Plot To Control America...He and his fellow Democrats plan to keep their grip on the levers of power.  It is a frightening prospect but America may be stuck with this “reform” for many years to come. The Democrats planned it to be this way and they may well succeed."
To be achieved by doing good things for the American people, like giving them health care and retirement security, so we vote to keep them in office.  This is a vicious abomination to right wingers like Ed, who knows that only by diverting endless money to the rich can our country hope to survive.

Here's an example of the treachery Democrats use to accomplish their purpose:
"Democrats used a rare parliamentary move to change the rules so that federal judicial nominees and executive-office appointments can advance to confirmation votes by a simple majority of senators, rather than the 60-vote supermajority that has been the standard for nearly four decades."
Nearly four decades!  And what about the 23 decades before that, from the time our founding fathers made the rules until "nearly four decades" ago, when the Senate made a terrible mistake, not being able to foresee that the Republican party was about to turn into a traitorous pack of anti-American criminals, determined to give the country to a small oligarchy or ruin it in the process.  How dare the Democrats object to that!  It's been going on for four decades already!
Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "I had an extraordinary telephone conservation with my 86-year-old black dad, a lifelong Democrat and huge Obama fan.  He called to ask me, “Is Obama anti-Christian?”  Dad has been a Christian pastor for over 50 years.  I said, “Dad, I have been telling you about Obama's anti-Christian policies for the past five years.”  Dad replied, “And I have not been listening.”
And a good thing too, because there is not a more smug, unapologetic liar in the country than Lloyd Marcus, the right's favorite rent-a-nigger, always ready to put a black face on the white racists' lies.  Sorry for the harsh language, but how else can you describe someone like this?
Thomas Lifson, American Thinker:  "The Hillary '16 propaganda machine launches a second foray...It is now clear that a finely-tuned plan to soften-up opposition to Hillary Clinton rolling into the Oval Office is being executed through willing proxies"
The Republicans are so frustrated by Hillary's refusal to run for President at the present time.  So they've just decided that anyone who says anything nice about Hillary is part of a secret, cynical campaign plot.  It's awfully silly, but it's all they've got.  And by the way, notice that anything done to promote a Democrat is some sort of illegitimate anti-American attack.
Mona Charen, Town Hall:  "Why Obama Scares Me...The most febrile of George W. Bush haters liked to claim during his tenure that the former president "scared" them. There is far more reason to be frightened by President Barack Obama, because fecklessness and inconstancy trigger wars."
Fecklessness and inconsistency?  As I remember, in this century, American wars have been triggered by violent Republican warmongers who lie our country into them.  I noticed that this disgusting right wing article was considered to be mainstream enough to be linked to by Yahoo this morning.

And now, the most piggish (and hopeless) attempt to gin up a scandal in recorded Republican history:
J. Christian Adams, PJ Media:  "Here’s a question I’ll bet nobody ever asked Jay Carney at a White House press briefing: Why does Michelle Obama’s mother live at the White House at taxpayer expense?"
Yeah, that's really going somewhere.  If I can remind you, J. Christian Adams is a guy that Bush brought into the Justice Department to turn the Civil Rights division from investigating discrimination against blacks and other minorities, to "investigating" the phony oppression of right wing Christians that is such a fantasy on the right.  That perversion of his duties really was a scandal, and one that should really have landed this guy in prison for misusing taxpayer money. but no one wants to talk about that.
Judie Brown, Renew America:  "A child is never a burden"
Never had any, did you, Judie?

Would-Be Presidential Assassin Speaks Out

I want to bring to your attention a most disturbing post at Crooks and Liars regarding the recent activity of Everest Wilhelmson, who we saw a few months ago here at Green Eagle insisting that people had a legal right to assassinate President Obama.  Well, he seems to be doing everything he can to further this goal, including claiming to having raised over $80,000 as a "reward to whoever can carry out the task.

Now, he is threatening to also kill all members of Congress who support Obama.

I seem to remember that this guy actually lives in Germany, so he is sort of free to engage in this sort of vicious talk, but who knows how many lunatic crackers in this country are just eating up what he has to say.  I have said for several years now that this all is not going to end without some really bloody scenes, and this is a step in that direction.  I really recommend that you click on the link above and examine some of his writing- I couldn't give you much of a sample here because a lot of the worst of it is in screen shots of since-blocked facebook posts.

Sarah's America

Listen, beating up on Sarah Palin is a cheap way to spend your time, but this ad for her new TV show really is amazing:

What a mixture of cheesy jingoism, and rank inability to deliver a single line decently on Sarah's part.  Thanks again, John McCain, for bringing her into the world of national politics.

White Men Can't March

So, this is just for the record, but last weekend was the occasion of the mass breakout of "White Men's Marches" around the country, organized under the slogan "Diversity=White Genocide."

As is typical, the maximum turnout in any one place seems to have been nine, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Here's a typical crowd, illustrating both the quantity and nature of the participants, I think:
I love the guy in blue.  Not afraid to show off his whiteness, I guess.

This represents quite a comedown from the old days, when white men's marches used to draw so many more people:
Now, that makes a statement.

Readers of Green Eagle may know that I try to cover these events for the record as much as anything else- they are inevitably gigantic failures, but they never induce the mainstream press to ruminate on how large or small this intransigent population of white haters really is.  No, these people have to be given a loud voice in national affairs, no matter how ugly that voice is.

In any event, I am beginning to strongly suspect that all of these national "marches" are really nothing but one more method for right wingers to extract money from the rubes.  When they inevitably fail miserably, they are just forgotten, and the wingnut con men just move on to their next scheme.  Next up:  The May 16th "American Spring," when ten million or so angry patriots are going to turn up on the White House lawn and throw Obama out, as a demonstration of their love of Constitutional government.  That should be a treat.

Green Eagle's Two Cents on the Malaysian Airliner

A couple of things I learned doing airplane movies:

First of all, the autopilot on a Boeing jet is so straightforward that you could teach someone to set it in 15 minutes.  If they had the heading, altitude and airspeed written down, anyone could do it.

Second, I must admit that I do not have a clue about what it takes to turn the transponders off in mid-flight, but I do seem to remember that they are held in by a few screws, and that anyone with a screwdriver could remove them entirely.

Here's a 777 cockpit, if you are interested, showing the autopilot in the center just below the windows, and the transponders aft of the throttles, between the seats.

So much for the universally accepted theories that only a trained pilot could have done what we know at this point.  As usual, the mainstream press is too busy shouting for attention to manage to learn anything about the subject.

More Hitler From the Rich

Ken Langone on attempts to question the disgusting transfer of wealth in this country to the rich:

“I hope it’s not working,” Ken Langone, the billionaire co-founder of Home Depot and major GOP donor, said of populist political appeals. “Because if you go back to 1933, with different words, this is what Hitler was saying in Germany. You don’t survive as a society if you encourage and thrive on envy or jealousy.”

First of all, that is a pile of crap, referring to a movement whose rise to power was financed by some of the richest people in Germany.

But more to the point, if I was this jerk, I'd be a lot more worried about France in 1789 than Germany in 1933.

Just a Little Question for John McCain

And all of the other belligerent right wing crackers that are demanding that the United States do all sorts of horrible things to Russia because of the situation in the Ukraine:  How would you have reacted if the Russians had sent missiles over here or tried to wreck our economy because Reagan financed an army of crazed drug dealers to try to overthrow the legally elected government of Nicaragua, or because Reagan sent armed troops into the tiny nation of Grenada to overthrow another government we didn't like?

I guess that's a stupid question.  It's just fine when Republicans do it.

Paul Ryan Backpedals For Comments About Lazy ‘Inner City’ Men

Translation courtesy of Green Eagle:

The racist demagogue said exactly what he meant in front of an audience of his fellow white haters.  He is now claiming that he didn't mean what he obviously did, confident in the sure knowledge that our pathetic mainstream press will ignore the obvious and use the incident as an opportunity to tell us once again what a deep thinker, dedicated to the best interests of the country, he is.

Paul Krugman, as usual, will buck this trend, but of course Krugman has forfeited his right to a seat at the pundit table, by committing the crime of being constantly right about things, instead of taking rich people's money to say what he is paid to say.

They Like Their Kids To Starve

Or at least, they're all for that when the alternative is paying a little more in taxes.  Here's a map of child poverty in the United States for the year 2012:
I'll leave it to you to figure out who "they" are, by observing where the orange and brown areas of the map are.  Of course, this data come from the Census Bureau, so they are probably a great big Obama lie- in reality, kids don't do better anywhere on earth than rural Alabama.

The Economic Abomination Continues

This is a story from yesterday that should easily have been the most important news of the day, but which is already being swallowed in the black hole that exists for any facts which threaten the beltway narrative paid for by the rich:

"New figures show that the bonus bonanza of 2013 didn’t disappoint. According to the New York State Comptroller’s office, Wall Street firms handed out $26.7 billion in bonuses to their 165,200 employees last year, up 15 percent over the previous year.
The $26.7 billion Wall Streeters pocketed in bonuses would cover the cost of more than doubling the paychecks for all of the 1,085,000 Americans who work full-time at the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour."

Yes, you read that correctly.  The bonuses given to a pack of Wall Street vampires who contribute exactly nothing to our well-being except sucking it dry, added up last year to more than the entire amount paid to all full time minimum wage workers in the country.

And yet, everyone goes along with this division of wealth as though it is perfectly normal, even though it is more unbalanced than at any time in the history of the United States, exceeding at this point even the grotesque pampering of the rich (as a result, of course, of Republican policies, which have not changed a bit since then) which caused the Great Depression, and led directly to World War II.

Are any of you old enough to remember when a stock broker was a guy who helped you invest your money wisely, and probably made a pretty good living doing so?  Now they are nothing but parasites, without even a pretense of serving anyone but themselves.  At this point even the rich suckers lured into most hedge funds end up getting shaved of their possessions:  Bloomberg reports that, for the fifth year in a row, hedge fund returns have trailed the Standard and Poor averages.  This means that hedge fund managers could have simply taken the rich people's money, put it in a mutual fund, and made billions off of their very rich investors; and for this they are given a fortune in bonuses.  So much, by the way, for the idea that these Wall Street guys are the "best and brightest" and that they work so hard for their money.  A chimpanzee with a dartboard could have done better.

Let me make my position clear:  Hyper-rich people and their tools in the financial "industry" need to be stripped of virtually all of their wealth, by force if necessary.  This is not an argument for fairness, although the current situation is obviously grossly unfair.  It is an argument from economic necessity.  Presently, as happened during the 1920's, so much money has shifted to the rich that they have no productive way to invest their ill-gotten gains.  The result of this situation is to inflate the value of all investment vehicles far beyond what could ever have been justified by expected earnings.  This is exactly what causes bubbles, and what is responsible for the "boom and bust" cycles that dominated world trade from the Renaissance to the 1930's, when Democrats enacted legislation to prevent this from happening.

Of course, Republicans and their bought and paid for supply-side economists knew better, and consequently, under the Republican rule of Reagan and the Bushes, those Democratic laws were done away with.  The consequences were almost immediate- another collapse into depression- a depression that was narrowly averted due to one single fact: in 1929, when the stock market collapsed, Democrats were unable to take over the White House until 1933, giving the Republicans over three years to continue running the country according to their self-serving ideological nonsense.  It was during this period that an investor-class crash was turned into a world wide economic catastrophe.  This time, we only needed to wait a few months to stop a Republican administration from continuing the bankrupt policies that caused the 2008 crash, so we only got a near-depression, prolonged as long as possible by Republican intransigence.

Well, we cannot allow this much money to accumulate in the hands of the very rich, unless we are content to have a depression every four decades or so.  This is a simple truth easily understandable by anyone who has ever heard about the most basic economic principle in the world- the law of supply and demand.

Wingnut Wrapup

I've been sort of neglecting my menagerie of trained jackasses lately, and frankly, I've gotten a little tired of the same old lies.  Well, it's time to take another walk along this fetid stream, so here goes:

John Ransom, Town Hall:  "Putin, Not Obama, is the Messiah"

Well, here is where you end up when nothing on earth is more important than smearing liberals:  Russia's shiny new neo-Communist dictator is the right's new idol.   God in heaven above, these people are a waste of food and water.

NRA-ILA, Town Hall:  "Un-Constitutional: 300,000 gun owners face jail time"

Unfortunately for them, it appears to be perfectly Constitutional for the State of Connecticut to require people to register their firearms.  Maybe by "unconstitutional," they meant their mass refusal to follow a simple law, because of their deliberate misconstrual of the second amendment.

The article continues:

"Tell Congress to vote NO on Obama's national gun registration scheme by signing this very important NRA-ILA petition today."

Of course, that is unlikely to accomplish much seeing as how everyone (except right wing dupes) knows that there is not and has never been such a thing as "Obama's national gun registration scheme."  Not that the NRA will stop attempting to milk the rubes with this lie.  Because believe me, milking the rubes is all this is about.

Town Hall:  "Paul Ryan: Obama is Uncomfortable with America’s Superpower Responsibilities"

And that is a bad thing?  As opposed to, say, Dick Cheney, who was perfectly comfortable about throwing our military might around for no purpose at all, at a cost of $3 trillion or so?  I think it is a very good thing for the man who weilds so much power to be a little uncomfortable with it, rather than foaming at the mouth to start another war.

Town Hall:  "Afghan Taliban Order Fighters to Disrupt the Vote"

What fools.  It's so much cheaper to just pass laws to make it nearly impossible for members of the other party to vote.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Palin: "I Do Not Like This Uncle Sam, I Do Not Like His Health Care Scam"

You know what, I don't like stupid, greedy demagogues either, but I guess I'm stuck with this one.  Ashamed yet, Mr. McCain?

Caleb Howe, Red State:  "Ted Cruz: Republicans Win When They Paint in Bold Colors"

I.e. when they lie enough.  Can't argue with that, I guess.

George Landrith, Human Events:  "A message Obama needs to deliver and Putin needs to hear-An expanded missile defense shield."

Ha ha.  Let's spend tens of billions more on a "defense" system that Republicans have been pushing since Reagan, and which has never shown one shred of likelihood that it will ever work.  That is, unless you define "working" as transferring a lot more money to rich people, for nothing in return.  This is almost as disingenuous as Rand Paul's idea to just slap that old Mr. Putin right in the face by doing away with all American regulation of oil drilling.  Yeah, that's the answer.

Roger Simon, PJ Media:  "Why Rand Paul Is Winning"

Forget Roger's crap.  Rand Paul is winning (among Conservatives, that is) because right wingers are really stupid.

Jack Dunphy, PJ Media:  "A ‘Warrantless’ Search Is Not the Same as an ‘Unreasonable’ Search"

I love this one- a perfect specimen of Conservatives' blatantly dishonest quotation of the Constitution.  Mr. Dunphy would have you believe that warrantless searches can be legal because they don't violate the fourth amendment prohibition on unreasonable searches.  Well, here's the whole fourth amendment:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

See?  The ban on warrantless searches is not dependant on the clause about unreasonable searches, but on specific language in the very same sentence, which Mr. Dunphy simply ignored.

I have always suspected that these guys learned to quote the Constitution from their Fundamentalist preachers quoting the bible with equal honesty.  Can't prove me wrong with this example.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "War on Women… MSNBC Calls Sarah Palin a Moron"

No, it's a war on morons, most of whom are decent people, not lying grifters out to make a fast buck at the expense of the American people.

Donald Hank, Renew America:  "John Bolton for president?"

Ha.  Ha ha.  Hahahahahaha.  Bolton.  Ha.  If only.  Please, Republicans- be my guest.

Michael Bargo Jr, American Thinker:  "Social Justice Crashed the Economy"

It's them damned jungle bunnies again.  Greedy, crooked banks and their Republican CEO's had nothing to do with it.

Chuck Norris, Town Hall:  "In the first two parts of this series, I explained the comparative dangers and health risks of alcohol and marijuana. To elevate one over the other is like saying a plain doughnut isn't so bad as a glazed one."

Of course, that thing about donuts just happens to be true.  Sorry, Chuck, you made a fool out of yourself again.

Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "Hey, Harry Reid, is this Baptist Preacher a Liar, too? Pastor Hit by Truck Another ObamaCare Victim"

I know this is going to come as a huge surprise to you, but this Baptist Preacher is a liar.  He is going around blaming a rate hike from his insurance company on Obamacare:

"Matthew and his wife used to have insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Like many Americans, they received a letter in 2013 informing them of a hike in premiums. The couple had been paying $550 per month for their plan and Blue Cross was raising the rate by more than 15 percent. Even though they liked their insurance plan, Matthew said it was no longer in their budget."

See? absolutely nothing to do with Obamacare.  It was his insurance company that raised his rates, just like they've been doing for decades. He was a liar.

And now, the stupidest question of the day:

PJ Media:  "Rand Paul vs. Ted Cruz: Whose Foreign Policy Views Are More Like Ronald Reagan’s?"

Oh, I don't know, why don't we ask which one of the two would illegally and treasonously supply two thousand missiles to the Iranian mullahs?  That's what Reagan did.  And which one would let middle eastern terrorists blow up 241 American servicemen, and then turn tail and run?  Reagan did that too, and then eased his conscience by having a temper tantrum in our great geopolitical enemy, Grenada.  And which one of them would finance a gang of drug dealers to overthrow a legally elected government in Central America?  Well, both of them would probably go for that.  Anyway, I could go on here, but you get the point.

And Now, the Greatest Outrage Of The Day!!!!!!!

Town Hall:  "Collapse: WH Issues Blanket Waiver to Individual Mandate Tax Through 2016...The mandate is dead. Obama is repealing Obamacare himself."

Heartland Institute  (i.e. the Koch Brothers):  "Six Types of Obamacare Waivers...You cannot listen to news about Obamacare without hearing about waivers"

Heritage Foundation (i.e. the rest of the rich liars in America):  "To date, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has approved 1,372 Obamacare waivers, covering 3.1 million Americans."

And the list goes on and on...the Daily Caller, Breitbart, Michelle Malkin, the Washington Times, Human Events, the Weekly Standard, Red State, and on endlessly.  An immense circle of right wing sources of "information" all repeating whatever outrage the other is screaming about, and all based on a deliberate misreading of everything, which they could have known in five minutes' checking, but of course, theydidn't really want to know the truth, did they?

Town Hall:  "House Dem Thinks the Constitution is 400 Years Old"

House Republicans (many of them) think the world is 6,000 years old.  Which are the greater bunch of jackasses?

Jim Geraghty, National Review Online:  "Why Liberals Can’t Govern...Those who believe in the inherent goodness of government avert their eyes from its abuses."

You see, it isn't governing if you spend eight years not getting into any massive wars of aggression which you promptly and ignominiously lose, or if you decrease (or even eliminate, in Clinton's case) the budget deficit, instead of exploding it like Reagan and the two Bushes.  It isn't governing if you don't do away with regulations that have prevented the rich from causing enother depression, with predictable results.  It isn't governing if you don't make torture legal.  And it isn't governing if you don't pander to the most stupid and ignorant segments of the population.  Got that straight, now?  Good.  Now you can go back to binge-watching "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."

Fox News:  "Top American commander warns Afghanistan would deteriorate quickly if US completely withdraws"

You bet.  Who cares?

Breitbart:  "Ben Shapiro Discusses Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 on 'Hannity'

Great.  A discussion of aviation security from someone who is not intellectually developed enough yet to learn to tie his own shoes.

And let's just end with this gem:

Erik Rush, World Net Daily:  "OBAMA BACKS NAZIS"

Yup, you read that right.  That's what our public discourse has come to.  Of course if you criticize a Republican President in any way, it's treason.  Here's a little more of Erik's delightful rhetoric:

"As the despot Obama devastates our economy and incrementally enslaves us, the press continues to prioritize trivialities like climate change and gender identity issues, while obediently paving the way for the odious, toxic witch who believes she is heir apparent to the presidency.

The American people would no more tolerate a press that shielded a government from accountability where such things were concerned than they would the government itself."

Don't remember the Bush administration, do you, Erik?  Now do the only decent thing you will have ever done in your whole life and shoot yourself in the face.

The Greatest President Ever?

Now here is a clearly well intentioned article from one John Ransom, a major contributor to Town Hall, and a prime specimen of conservative punditry.  Yes, here is the title:

"Five Things Obama Could Do to be the Greatest President Ever, but Won’t"

Five things that would make Obama, I guess, even greater than the current Greatest President Ever, Ronald Reagan.  Who would have ever thought that a Conservative would even consider the possibility, let alone that Obama could beat Reagan by doing five simple things.  I am sure that, like Green Eagle, you are enthusiastic about finding out what those five things are, so let's look at them:

1) Negotiate with Republicans on Obamacare—This signature piece of legislation is going down and it's taking Democrats with them.

Obamacare is "going down."  Barack, take the well meaning advice of a wingnut pundit- "negotiate" with Republicans- i.e. do away with the whole thing, throw millions of people back into the ranks of the uninsured and do away with your signature achievment.

2 ) Fold Up Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank— The banking industry doesn’t lack for regulation

No, what the banking industry needs is less regulation, so we can have a real depression soon.  That will make Obama as great a President as Herbert Hoover.

3) Approve the Keystone Pipeline— The Keystone pipeline isn’t about Canadian tar sand oil, it’s about opening the U.S. to further development of light, tight oil and gas.

Make it easier for oil companies to sell our natural resources to other countries.  When Republicans start coming up with helpful suggestions, can that one ever be far behind?

4) Evaluate All Legislation and Executive Action for Job Cost—There’s probably ten million jobs in the Keystone pipeline

Ten million jobs in the Keystone pipeline alone!  Amazing.  Particularly considering that there are only 208,000 people currently employed in the entire oil and gas extraction business in the whole country. So I guess what he means is that things should be evaluated on the basis of which Conservative tells the biggest lie about how many jobs they will generate.

5) Resign--  Obama’s in way over his head in the office of president of the United States. Obama-- and his mom-- seem to be the only ones who are ignorant of the fact

Well, that is certainly a way to guarantee that everyone thinks he is the greatest President ever- it worked for Sarah Palin, the most famous governor Alaska has ever had.

So all Obama has to do to be the greatest President ever is whatever right wing teabaggers want.  You know what?  I'll make you a bet: even if Obama still took all these malicious suggestions, right wingers would still not admit he was a greater President than Reagan.

Sarah Palin Wasn't Enough for One Day

No, we have to be lectured by one of the stupidest people on earth, Michelle Bachmann:

"Michele Bachmann told CPAC attendees today that the conservative movement must fight back because it is "at its core is an intellectual movement" based "on the greatest ideas that have ever been conceived in the mind of man."

Well, maybe she has a point there.  Like this great idea:

"The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."

-John Kenneth Galbraith

Fifty

I forgot to mention it a few days ago, but we passed a great milestone this week.  The Republicans in the House passed their fiftieth resolution to do away with Obamacare.  Good work, guys...glad you are so busy doing the people's work.

Ukraine...Who is to blame?

well, of course we know the answer to that question.  The only thing remaining in doubt is which of our country's Republican "leaders" can come up with the most idiotic explanation.  So far, here are the two leaders:

Lindsay Graham:  "It started with Benghazi. When you kill Americans and nobody pays a price, you invite this type of aggression."

John McCain:  "Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday drew from a new source in arguing that President Barack Obama has been too 'soft' on Russia: An article Obama wrote back when he was in college.

In a blistering speech on the Senate floor, McCain blamed Obama..."This is the same guy that the president of the United States pushed the reset button time and again with," McCain said of Putin.

He then shifted his attention to a 1983 article called "Breaking the War Mentality," which Obama penned for a campus magazine as a senior at Columbia University."

Yes, Obama caused Putin to invade the Ukraine, either because of Benghazi, or because of a college paper he wrote in 1983. There you go- that explains everything. Of course we haven't yet heard from Rick Santorum to tell us that it's all because of Jesus something.

This would be some kind of sick satire if it weren't true. And notice that all of the people who are attacking Obama for allegedly being naive in regard to Putin seem to have totally forgotten the man-crush that their guy Bush had on him:

“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country.”

Once again, Republican attacks on Obama are nothing but an attempt to tar him with their own failings.  At least no one is quoting anything that Bush wrote when he was in college.  Even "My Pet Goat" would have more to tell us about the world than that.

Outreach

Here's a wonderful picture from Daily Kos of the minority outreach meeting at the current Conservative Political Action Committee convention:
This is all you need to see to understand why the Republicans have now built their entire political stragegy on lies and cheating.

Ukraine

I'm sure I will have something to actually say about the situation in the Ukraine soon (since when does Green Eagle not have something to say about everything?) but at this point I just want to make a domestic comment.  The Republicans are already whipping themselves into a fury over the situation, with the dumbass McCain screaming that we are all Ukranians (no we're not, Mr. McCain- Green Eagle for one was born in Ohio) and the usual right wing preparations to blame Obama for every single thing that happens there (unless like, with Syrians WMD's something good comes of it, in which case, of course, they will ignore it.)

This is not an accident.  Republicans realize that they are riding a losing horse with their opposition to Obamacare, and they know that, with the budget deficit left to Obama by Republicans virtually cut in half, that standard Republican whine isn't showing any promise either.  So, they have to fall back on the only remaining Republican fantasy- the claim that, despite the fact that it was Democrats who guided us through both World Wars, and Republicans who engineered the greatest military blunder in our history in Iraq, it is actually  only Republicans that can be trusted to guard our nation's safety by starting another war or two- particularly one on the other side of the world, right next to the enemy, which we have no hope of winning short of blasting Moscow into oblivion with a couple of hydrogen bombs.  Of course, in the process of a war, we could use up all of our military equipment insuring a major Republican goal- that any loose money in the government's hands that could be foolishly used to improve life here will instead go into the hands of military contractors.

Well, get ready for the latest round of Republican war mongering- a staple since 1952.

A Brief Message to "Anonymous"

You know who you are.
