Not Much to Say, Really

I sure haven't been posting much lately.  What's more, I see the signs of similar lassitude at other blogs I read regularly.

No one wants to pay attention to anything but the election, and let's face it- this is the most boring and trivial Presidential election in decades.  What was billed by the Republican as the Great Clash of Ideas has turned out to be nothing of the sort, perhaps because Republicans really don't have any ideas, just an endless string of excuses for favoring the rich.  Instead, our days are consumed with waiting for their useless candidate to make another one of his almost daily "gaffes," i.e. to once again reveal himself to be a smug, self-entitled boor without a shred of empathy or understanding of people who are not wealthy.

So we wait, to find out if endless corporate money and open Republican election rigging can place this man in the White House, despite the fact that no rational person could want him within a thousand miles of Washington. And really, there's not much we can do about it.  We can talk all we want about getting out the vote, but how much good can that really do in the face of intimidation at the polling places, and a campaign to remove Democratic voters from the electoral rolls?

Here's the very cheery state of the current Presidential election, from Rand:

Looks great, until you think about those hundreds of millions of rich people's money waiting to be poured into radio and TV commercials in the next five weeks- commercials which grow more vicious and dishonest by the day; and until you think about the unknown number of Democratic voters who are going to show up on election day to discover that some stranger financed by the Koch brothers has succeeded in denying them the right to vote.

This is not a pretty picture of the supposedly democratic system we have in this country.  And virtually no one, least of all that 5% of "undecided"  (i.e. stupid and ignorant) voters who are going to choose our President for us, seems to think that it is important enough to worry about

Impeachment, Here We Come

Mike Huckabee, speaking about the violence in Benghazi, on Fox News:

“It was a planned, coordinated, orchestrated attack led by terrorists, terrorists, Bill, and this White House has to explain why it hasn’t owned up to that. Why it can’t say it … Let’s go back. Richard Nixon was forced out of office because he lied. And because he covered some stuff up. I’m going to be blunt and tell you this. Nobody died in Watergate. We have people who are dead because of this. There are questions to be answered and Americans ought to demand to get answers.”

Let me remind you that Mike Huckabee is regarded far and wide as a responsible political commentator, has been the Governor of Arkansas, and finished second to John McCain in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2008.  This is the voice of the current Republican establishment.  It has become acceptable for them to champion the lunatic notion that Obama needs to be impeached.  If this is how far they have deteriorated, is there anyone on earth who thinks that a tea party dominated House of Representatives will not once again find an idiotic excuse to file impeachment charges against Obama, as they did against Clinton?

Let me remind you of the history of recent Presidencies:

Nixon (Republican)- Forced to resign after massive corruption, including the first attorney general in history to end up in prison.

Ford (Republican)- For those who don't remember, it was under Ford, not Carter that interest rates exploded, although Republicans have spent the intervening decades blaming this on Carter.  Here's a picture of Ford wearing a button that says WIN, for "whip inflation now."

Carter (Democrat)- Not the best four years, but immeasurably above, say, George W. Bush's record.  Suffered from a Republican campaign of character assassination that continues to this day.

Reagan-Bush 1 (Republican)-  Tax policies, destruction of regulations, and moral insensitivity set the stage for the economic collapse of this country.  Deified by Republicans.

Clinton (Democrat)-  Eight years of peace and prosperity, resulting in a balanced budget, and a chance to pay off the national debt.  Impeached by Republicans in the greatest Constitutional abuse in the history of this country.  Victim of an ongoing attempt to portray him as a rapist, murderer, drug dealer, etc.

Bush 2 (Republican)- Destroyed the economy, destroyed the United States' moral position in the world, well, you know the rest.  So far, Republicans have tried to obliterate his memory.

Obama (Democrat)-  Saved the country from a depression, made the first real progress toward health care reform in decades, led a careful and highly successful foreign policy strategy.  Savaged beyond anything we have seen before, subject to endless Republican racist attacks, lies and smears about him.

And they are not done yet.  The Democrats have never held Republicans responsible in any way for the almost endless series of attacks they have perpetrated on our democratic system, and until a lot of these people are tried, convicted and punished, they will continue to act like the spoiled, infantile monsters they are.

Birthday

I feel obligated to inform you that, on September 26th, 2002, ten years ago today, Pico the Parrot, whose picture is at the top of this blog, was born.  You are all welcome to come over to our house and be bitten.

Wingnut Wrapup

And another visit to the never ending sewer of hatred and idiocy which is the right wing in America today:

Town Hall:  "According to Dividends: U.S. Entering Recession...We've identified recession territory as being consistent with more than 10 U.S. companies per month acting to cut their dividend payments to investors."

Yes, according to a measure that you just invented, because all of the real ones are going in the right direction.  That was convincing, guys.  Keep up the great work.

Rand Simberg, PJ Media:  "German Troops Riot in Italy over Disney Film!   Outraged over the insult to their Fuehrer by a film recently released by RKO, German troops reportedly engaged in violent attacks on Americans attempting to consolidate a beach head in the area of Salerno, Italy, today."

I guess this story is supposed to have something to do with Libya.  Well, leaving aside the issue of it being from seventy years ago, may I just point out that when one army attacks another army during a war, that is not a "riot."  Here's a comment on the above post:

“The building formally known as the Pentagon has become a G-d damned mega mosque whore house of servicing Muslims. The Perfumed Pimps there masquerading as Generals have no regard for America and it’s Constitution or their own troops and they are all out sons of bitches, traitors, and chronic dhimmis!”

So much for right wingers' "respect for the troops."

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Democrats, Media Get Punk'd: Romney Releases Tax Returns..."

Not, of course the ones we asked for- just the one for this year, which Romney was able to carefully doctor to hide the fact that he is a greedy rich bastard.  Oh, and he also gave us a letter from the same accounting firm that told us all those real estate deals before 2008 were just wonderful investments, saying "I promise that Mitt payed his taxes, I promise, I promise."  Very comforting, that.

"Oops.  Now what happens to all those Obama ads claiming that Romney "probably" pays a lower rate "than you"?

Nothing, Guy.  He still demanded ten years of tax returns from Paul Ryan, but won't let us see the sleazy corruption that allowed him to amass a quarter billion dollar fortune.  Anyway, nothing that I could say would possibly explain this story as well as the picture used to illustrate this story:

The joke's on you America!  You know what, I remember a few months ago when the press was falling all over itself to tell us how "Presidential" Mitt looks.  These days, he looks to me like an overgrown frat boy with a bad attitude.

David Limbaugh, Town Hall:  "So what about the Democrats' would-be tempest about Mitt Romney's alleged 47 percent gaffe? Is there any "there" there?

Mitt's statement was made at a private fundraiser, where he was trying to explain that his message of reducing taxes would obviously not resonate with the 47 percent of Americans who are not paying income taxes. It's purely logical; you aren't going to entice those who aren't paying taxes with promises of lower taxes."

It's a Republican matter of faith that no one in America votes on the basis of anything but their immediate self-interest.  If Republicans can't offer people a bribe in the form of a promised tax cut, they're through, as they well know, because they've got nothing else but lies and voter suppression.

And by the way, David, you know what?  No one gives a God damn about the maunderings of Rush Limbaugh's brother.  Nice that you've been able to keep your job through the recession, though.

Linda Chavez, Town Hall:  "Media Bias and the 47 Percent...The narrative of the Romney campaign as portrayed by most major media last week has been one of a tone-deaf, elitist candidate."

Gee, I wonder why that is.

"It turns out, the version of the tape available via Mother Jones was edited, with important sections left out."

Gee, that sounds familiar.  Here we go again, blaming Democrats for Republicans' behavior.  Well, the tape wasn't edited in any way.  The whole thing was released within a day, and it was totally consistent with the original excerpt.  Turns out, Romney really is a "tone-deaf, elitist candidate."  Too bad, guys- you picked him.

Donald Lambro, Town Hall:  "Obama's Machiavellian Tricks and the Big Lie About Taxing the Middle Class...President Obama's entire campaign strategy is based on an age-old political trick that he can overcome his weakness on the economy by changing the subject."

Because it is a lie that the Romney-Ryan proposals will result in huge tax increases on the middle class in order to give huge tax cuts to rich people like Romney himself.  Only one thing wrong with this theory- Obama is not telling a lie, he's telling the truth.  And it seems like more people are figuring that out every day.

Kyle Olsen, Town Hall:  "Union Mob Hogs All the Seats in “Public” Negotiation Session"

Union mob- that would be 500 teachers who showed up for a public meeting about teacher salary negotiations.  How dare they?  Kyle continues:

"We have no idea how many ordinary citizens were able to get into the meeting"

So, Kyle has not a shred of evidence that the mob of union hogs prevented a single person from attending the meeting; what we do know is that people like Kyle don't believe working people have the right to participate in determining their own future.  No, that should be left to our betters, like Mitt Romney.

Town Hall:  "Romney plans more battleground events"

Well, that's nice to know. I was beginning to think that his strategy was to spend the entire rest of the campaign in fund raisers, and then on November 7th, take the whole billion dollars they've raised and just move to France or something.

Armstrong Williams, Town Hall:  "Are Black and White Conservatives Racist ?"

No, Armstrong, they are not.  White Conservatives are racist.  Black Conservatives are craven tools.  There.  Hope that helped you figure it out.

Ann Coulter, Town Hall:  "Wildly Out of Touch Media Complain Romney Not Regular Guy"

Hey, we all have car elevators and get a $70,000 tax deduction for our horses, right?

Bridget Johnson, PJ Media:  "'Fast and Furious' Report Not the End of the Issa-Holder Battle"

Of course it isn't.  The whole thing was a Republican lie from day one, so why should it stop now, just because the independent report exonerated Obama and Holder?

Andrew Klavan, PJ Media:  "Media to Romney: Stop Telling the Truth"

He's got to start telling the truth first.  Fat chance.

Jim Simpson, Renew America:  "Our nation is the last repository of free market economic principles, and a fundamental change in our government toward socialism will spell worldwide economic disaster from which we may never recover.

Yet this is exactly the endgame of the American radical Left — increasingly indistinguishable from today's Democrat Party — and offers the only internally consistent explanation for their historic obsession with divisive policy."

Oh yes, absolutely!  The Democratic party is devoted to causing a worldwide economic disaster.  You know, they didn't even need to go to the trouble- the Bush administration beat them to it.

Kathy Shaidle, PJ Media:  "As Thomas Sowell and many others like to point out, our “poor” enjoy luxuries the Sun King could only dream of: cell phones (or three), cars (or two), Playstations and big screen TVs."

I can't agree with that.  I doubt that the Sun King could even dream of Playstations.  Really.    Kathy continues her sociological ruminations:

"Back when “living” conditions in Victorian London were unspeakably appalling, Jack the Ripper was practically doing those women a favor…Instead, today’s poor are often petulant, entitled, irresponsible and ungrateful, caught up in a culture of crime and cheap thrills."

Yeah, I remember the poor in London demanding:  "Let Jack the Ripper be- I might be lucky enough to be next!"  And how can we doubt the truth of Kathy's claim that today's poor are "ungrateful" for the privilege of being poor?

"in 2012, I’d take that further: our “poor” have become the “rich” Jesus warned us about."

Oh yes, this very religious Christian feels totally comfortable with the notion that when the infallible God said "rich," he really meant "poor." Yes, it was really the poor that Jesus berated.  Remember when he went in the Temple and attacked all of those poor money changers?  I guess that proves the point.

Has there ever been a greater combination of stupidity and evil (aside from Sarah Palin, of course?)  If so , I can't think of it.

Town Hall:  "Iran threatens attacks on US bases in event of war"

If they are attacked, they will fight back!  Well, what do you expect them to do if they are in a war?  Really, right wingers can get outraged over anything.  Of course, the United States is the most perfect, wonderful, moral country in the history of the universe, so if we attack someone, the only decent thing for them to do is to just lay down and die.

Karin McQuillan, American Thinker:  "Fixing the Economy Is Not Rocket Science"

Ruining it wasn't that hard either.  Even Bush managed to do that.

Paul Schlichta, American Thinker:  "A Call for a Pre-Election Day of Prayer"

Romney's only chance.

Alan Keyes, Renew America:  "I'll trust my vote to God"

Alan, if he votes for you, that would be voter fraud.  God isn't even a citizen.  Where did your patriotism go?  You are supposed to hate illegal aliens.

Madeline Crabb, Renew America:  "The Christian voting dilemma: Muslim or Mormon?"

They never give up.

Tim Dunkin, Renew America:  "Why I am now an Anybody But Obama voter"

Because you're a racist, Tim.  There, it didn't take 750 words to answer that question, did it?

And now, let's end with the delusion of the month:

Stella Paul, American Thinker:  "Was Obama's Illegal War in Libya A Trial Run to Attack Israel?"

You won't be surprised that, in some way I couldn't comprehend, this all has something to do with George Soros.  Oh well...

Republican Poll Numbers- Liberals Don't Get It

There has been great mirth today, by liberals and in the mainstream press, at a trend that has developed in the last couple of days, of a number of Republicans attacking the national polls and claiming that they are heavily biased to show Obama leading.  This has, as usual, been attributed to psychological malaise and inability to accept reality on the right.

Here are a couple of examples:

From Greg Sargent, at the Washington Post:

"The Romney campaign is joining the ranks of supporters who have decided that major national polls show Romney losing only because the samples are overly weighted with Dems. Romney pollster Neil Newhouse insists that public polling averages are “skewed,” and that the 2012 electorate will not show the same minority and Dem base composition as the 2008 one did.

But in an interview with me, Obama campaign pollster Joel Benenson mocked the idea that the electorate will diverge meaningfully from that of 2008 as as delusional.

“The notion that this electorate isn’t going to be as diverse as it was is frankly a fantasy,” Benenson said."

And from Ed Kilgore, at the Washington Monthly:

"There are really only three ways to deal with all the evidence that Obama is ahead with time beginning to run out: (1) blame it on a bad Romney campaign; (2) argue some 1980-style “big shift” to Romney is inevitable and perhaps already baked into the cake; or (3) just deny it all on grounds most of the pollsters are wrong, biased or both.

Unsurprisingly, this last approach is wildly popular at the moment (Kirsanow mentions it as a possibility). It even has its own Prophet, a man named Dean Chambers who spends his time recalculating everybody’s horse-race polls and approval/disapproval numbers based on what they’d look like if they used Rasmussen’s Party ID weighting."

Now, if you are interested, here are some of Dean Chambers' "recalculations:"

I have not seen anyone else say this, but I am going to assert positively that this sort of thing is not a fantasy, nor the result of the right's inability to accept reality, as great as that is.

This behavior is intended to provide a synthetic track record to cover the vast efforts at voter disenfranchisement which, at this point, represent the Republicans' only real shot at winning this election.  Remember that the Republicans are "challenging" 750,000 Democratic voters in Ohio alone, where they have also distributed a million copies of a sick DVD by swift boat liar Jerome Corsi, filled with lies about Obama being a Communist plant.  And similar efforts are underway in many battleground States.

If they are able to steal the Presidential election through anti-American tactics like this, they are going to need to explain how the supposed final vote tallies varied so far from the vast majority of polls.  These ludicrous, phony polling results will then be their trump card, reducing, in the minds of many, what should be clear evidence of fraud, to a he said- she said squabble.  They are covering their tracks in advance.  Though Obama seems to be strengthening his lead every day, Republican vote suppression may still very well give the election to Romney, in which case they will be ready to muddy the waters as they steal the Presidency for the second time in twelve years.

The Single Most Dumbfuck Stupid Thing A Presidential Candidate Ever Said

Mitt Romney, Courtesy of the Los Angeles Times:

“When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem."

Really, where on earth did they find this idiot, who makes George W, Bush sound smart?  And why does the entire nation have to abide his presence?

Romney Supporters Get The Message

I want to talk about something I said a few posts ago, in connection with some results from a new Gallup poll:

"Romney Has Support Among Lowest Income Voters... Romney still gets about a third of the vote among those whose household incomes are less than $24,000 a year.

Americans who pay no income tax cover the entire income spectrum, but most research shows that a large percentage of those non-payers are those in the lowest income households. Yet, even among those who make less than $24,000 a year in household income, 34% say they will vote for Romney.... a detailed analysis of voting choice by age shows that Americans 70 and older are among Romney's strongest voter segments, particularly those aged 70 to 79."

People over 65 with incomes of less than $24,000 a year are almost totally living on Social Security.  And yet, as I predicted, a large number of these people do not think they are members of the dreaded 47% of moochers who live off of government benefits.

This phenomenon is the result of one thing:  Romney is knowingly blowing one of the loudest dog whistles on the face of the earth.  He knows that his hate-filled, ignorant, largely old voter base will correctly interpret "the 47%" to be a reference to the "other" sort of people- i.e. blacks, Latinos and similar degenerate Democrats.  No matter how much they depend on checks from the government, the people in his base will always see themselves as upstanding, self-supporting true Americans, as opposed to, well, you know who.

Romney has bet his campaign on this, and it is a good bet.  These people believe that they are in with rich vultures like Romney, and that those vultures really intend to take care of them, while stripping everything from minorities who, by virtue of their race, deserve nothing from the rest of us.  People this stupid have a really ugly day of reckoning coming if they get their wish and put this sociopathic, self entitled man in the White House.  Unfortunately, it is a day of reckoning in which the rest of us will share.

If Liberal Bloggers Were Like Conservative Bloggers- Part Two

Green Eagle was never very good at dancing like an Egyptian back in the day, but he's trying to learn to blog like a Conservative.  A couple of days ago, I pointed out how likely it was that Mitt Romney was a Communist spy.  Today, I'm back with another startling revelation.

Some of you may remember when Conservative lunatics produced the following photos as evidence that Barack's father was really some virtually unheard of alleged Communist, Frank Marshall Davis- a character whose lack of notoriety makes Saul Alinsky seem like Elvis:

Well, this sterling example of  nearly unbelievable stupidity hard-hitting investigative journalism motivated Green Eagle to engage in the "research" that led to the following shocking information:

___________________________________________________

Mitt Romney's Real Father Finally Revealed!!!!!

Many of Green Eagle's readers will be familiar with the fact that Mitt Romney's family once lived in Mexico.  In fact, Green Eagle has confirmed that his grandparents (grandpa and five grandmas) lived there at approximately the same time as one of the greatest Communists of all time, Leon Trotsky.  This fact proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Romney family was very close to Trotsky and they were undoubtedly strongly influenced by his beliefs.

Now, Green Eagle offers to his readers the following astounding photograph, which will shake the Presidential election to its foundations:

It is irrefutably clear from this photo that Mitt Romney's father was, in fact, not George Romney, but the arch-Communist Leon Trotsky!  This has been cleverly hidden from the American people, but now at last the evil truth has been revealed!

This traitorous man must be stopped before he has the opportunity to bring the yoke of Communist tyranny to all the freedom loving people of the United States!

____________________________________________________

Well, what do you think?  Has Green Eagle learned the lessons of Conservative journalism?  Is he qualified to meet the high standards of integrity demanded of all wingnut bloggers, or does he still need more practice?

And Now The Good News

From the International Business Times:

"Iranian Cleric Beaten by Women after Ordering Them to Wear Hijab"

No comment necessary.

Keith, We Miss You

Hate to Splash Cold Water on That...

So, Mitt Romney, in one week, has demonstrated to anyone who cares to see it that:

1.  He is an ignorant, belligerent fool that knows nothing about the world, and is willing to use any foreign policy disaster to benefit himself.

2.  He is a self-entitled person who was born into a rich and powerful family, and is willing to spread the most loathsome smears about anyone who wasn't lucky enough to have started out with his advantages.

3.  And to sum it up, he is the least qualified Presidential candidate in the last hundred years.

Many here in the reality based world are whooping for joy at what would, in a rational country, have totally destroyed any chance this guy had to end up on anything but the losing end of one of the biggest landslides in world history.

It ain't going to happen.  Romney's piggish, un-American behavior is not going to dislodge a single vote from his side, and may actually increase the commitment of a lot of right wingers to vote for him.  This is because, unlike us, Republicans don't vote for what is good for the country, what is fair or even what is good for them personally.  The Republican party has spent decades whipping its followers into a frenzy of greed and hatred, and it has succeeded so well that Romney's vicious, dishonest lies are actually exactly what they want to hear.  They don't want truth and they don't give a damn about common human decency.  They want a candidate who is willing to echo their own mindless rage, and for the next six weeks that's exactly what they are going to get from Romney.

In the end, this election is not going to be about the economy, nor about who is better suited to lead the country, or who would be better at foreign policy.  It is going to be a referendum on whether we will pick our leader based on his ability, or on nothing but a self-destructive eruption of mindless rage.

Wingnut Wrapup

Boy, the right wingers were out there blabbing today.  So, let's not waste any time; let's get right to work.

Town Hall:  "Analysis: Will Republicans Win the Senate?"

Translation:  They've already given up on the White House.

Byron York, Town Hall: "Romney Will be Judged on Actions, Not Coverage"

Man, after the last week, that isn't good news for Republicans.

Jeff Jacoby, Town Hall:  "Just as Intended, Teachers Strike Hurts Families"

Just as intended...Can't you just see the planning committee:  "Mwahahaha...what can we do to hurt families...that's all we teachers live for..."

Katie Kieffer, Town Hall:  " Let’s bring selfish back, y’all!  Last week, I wrote that if you are a Christian, you must embrace Ayn Rand’s economic philosophy (capitalism). Today, I will explore this further."

Not with me reading it, you wont.

Daniel J. Mitchell, Town Hall:  "No, I’m Not Corrupt...That being said, I invite the world to comb through everything I’ve ever done, everything I’ve ever said, and everything I’ve ever written to find the slightest shred of evidence that I am motivated by anything other than a principled belief in liberty. "

Everything you've ever done or written?  How about when you write the same old Republican lies right there on Town Hall?  Hey, that was an easy one to deal with.

Wayne Allyn Root, Town Hall:  "Why This Ex-Libertarian is Voting Mitt Romney"

Because he's stupid?  That's my guess, based on the fact that virtually everyone I ever met who called himself a libertarian is stupid.

Madeline McAulay, Town Hall:  "Young Conservatives have managed to create a social media empire, yet the mainstream media continues to report as though they are non-existent."

And lucky for you guys, Madeline, since your "social media empire" is filled with the same lies and smears as the rest of the right wing media.  If anyone paid attention to it, you'd be laughed out of the country.

Julie Ershani, Human Events:  "Embassy protests may have been staged by Iranian government"

Yeah, and they may have just as easily been staged by Martians, for all of the evidence that Julie gives.  But any chance to promote warmongering against Iran, I guess.

And now, it's time for a little right wing hallucinating:

Bob Owens:  "Hit the road, Barack: Romney up 6 in NC after Godless DNC debacle...The stunning incompetence of Barack Obama’s presidency is going to be washed away in an electoral tsunami in November, with high voter turnout among Republicans and conservatives, consistent independent and moderate turnout in favor of Romney, and depressed turnout among Democrats."

Yes, Romney being up in one of the most right wing States in the country is a sure sign that Obama is going to lose.  All the Republicans, who can't stand Romney, are going to rush out to vote for him, and all of a sudden, all the independents are going to switch their votes.  Keep thinking that way, Bob.  Sucker.

Roger Simon, PJ Media:  "Barry, Hillary — I Demand to be Arrested!  Arrest me, Hillary, before I start making my own movie about Mohammed."

How about if we just put you under a 72 hour psych hold?  That sounds more appropriate in your case, Roger.

Leslie Loftis, PJ Media:  "How About a ‘Crusade’ Against the Conventional Wisdom on Childhood Obesity?"
Because fat kids are so nice, I guess.  Absolutely nothing that the Obamas do can be worthwhile.  It's all got to be some manipulative plot to seize more power for themselves.  What's next, "Petting your dog- the first step to Communist Subversion?"

David P. Goldman, PJ Media:  "When Do We Get to Attack Obama's Character?"

What in the name of God are you talking about, David?  You've been attacking his character (with an endless succession of lies) since the day you figured out that he wasn't white.  Grow up a little already, and take some responsibility for your behavior.

Bryan Preston, PJ Media:  "A Few Thoughts on the Second 9-11"

Yes, the four deaths in Benghazi are totally the equivalent of the three thousand deaths on American soil on the real 9-11.  This is so contemptible that it is hard to believe, but this is what the Repubicans are going to run with for the next six weeks.  Unless they can think of a worse lie, you might as well get used to it.

Here's a little of the despicable argument Bryan makes:

"At a moment when the Middle East was spinning out of control and the proverbial 3 am crisis call came in, America did not appear to have a president at all.  Until Mitt Romney spoke up, anyway."

Because nothing is more Presidential than mindless, ignorant belligerence, and twisting national tragedies to your personal benefit.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Eat Your Peas!… Michelle Obama Admits to Snacking Down on Fried Twinkies"

News, wingnut style.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Breaking: Obama Administration Stonewalls on Benghazi 9-11 Terror Attack"

Of course, if they did answer right wing questions, Obama would be accused of leaking national security secrets.

Stephen Stone, Renew America:  "Those who find themselves with seemingly no choice this presidential election do in fact have a choice they might not immediately recognize.  It's called doing what God wants."

And who does God want?  Mitt.  Surprised?

Michael Oberndorf, Renew America:  "Obama and Clinton must resign -- NOW!"

Don't put any money on that, Michael.

World Net Daily EXCLUSIVE!  "A research article posted on the website of terrorist-turned-Christian Walid Shoebat contends the oldest known references to the Islamic deity Allah are not in Arabian records but in Babylonian artifacts.  Ancient tablets describe “Alla” as a deity of “violence and revolution.”

Of course, "Allah" is just the Arabic word for "God," and the God of ancient Babylon has absolutely nothing to do with the God of Muslims.  But, hey, it's a racist smear, so it's good enough for World Net Daily.  And by the way- "terrorist turned Christian"...ha ha.  That should be "con man turned, well, still con man."

A piece of advice for you, guys:  Never trust a guy named Shoebat.

World Net Daily:  "'F--- America!' shouted in Jakarta"

Ooh, that hurt. We'll never recover, we're so upset.

Ben Voth, American Thinker:  "It's Not Bush's Fault"

Yes it is, Ben.  Now, go back to sleep.  If I were you, I'd stay asleep for about four years, until you guys have a chance to nominate some other jackass, to get crushed by Hillary.  Okay, maybe you need to sleep for twelve years.

Fred J. Eckert, American Thinker:  "Sounding and Acting Like Reagan, Romney Has Them Terrified.  I knew Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was a friend of mine. And Mitt Romney is reminding me an awful lot of Ronald Reagan."

Fred is talking about Romney's vicious, anti-American attack after the four deaths in Libya.  Fred, try taking a look at what Reagan actually said after the failed Iran hostage rescue attempt, before you open your big fat lying mouth:

"Former California Gov. Ronald Reagan told reporters it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to express an opinion at that time. “This is the time for us as a nation and a people to stand united” and to pray, Reagan said, according to United Press International."

Romney is reminding you of Ronald Reagan?  Listen, Reagan might have been nothing but a two bit B actor, but Romney is so pathetic than he couldn't even hold Reagan's Bonzo.

Newsmax:  "GOP Base to Romney: Why Aren't You Winning?"

Because you idiots saw to it that your party picked a truly horrible candidate.  That's why.  Too late to change now.

Well, enough.  See you soon.

If Liberal Bloggers Were Like Conservative Bloggers

Today, I'd like to try out a new approach to blogging.  I decided, rather than spend my time as I usually do, wading through the sludge to be found in the sewers of right wing thought, I would try to imagine how I would be reporting on this election if I thought just like a conservative.  Well, here is the result.  I hope you appreciate the fabrication intense scholarly research that went into this post.

ROMNEY- COMMUNIST SUBVERSIVE!!!!!!!

The massive investigative journalist team at Green Eagle World Wide Media has learned that Mitt Romney is a KGB trained Communist implanted in our political system for the express purpose of destroying our Republic.

Inside sources at the Romney campaign, who carefully chose Green Eagle to break this story, but who cannot be identified, have confirmed that, during the period from 1966 to 1969, when Romney was allegedly in the French city of "Paris," he was actually in Moscow, being carefully trained by the KGB to subvert American democracy and the Christian faith on which it is based!

Images such as the following, purporting to show Romney in France, are patent forgeries.  In fact, this picture shows Romney being carefully guarded by his KGB handler.

Who could be so stupid as to be fooled by a picture of two people in front of a French car and a fence?

After immense research, Green Eagle has actually uncovered Romney's official Soviet identity papers from the period, and now reveals them for the first time!

This is undeniable proof that Romney is in fact an agent of  the Soviet Union, which even though it hasn't existed for a couple of decades, is still our greatest enemy.

Green Eagle DEMANDS that Romney produce his 1966 passport and all of his airline tickets from that period.  Otherwise, he should be immediately imprisoned as an ENEMY SPY!

There is not one thing about the above post that is any more outrageous than anything the birthers have ever produced.  This is what passes for journalism in the right wing world, as I have documented for years here at Green Eagle.  What do you think, should we give it a try?  It seems to work, after all.

Truer Words Were Never Spoken

Rick Santorum:  “We will never have the elite, smart people on our side.”

Wall Street Revealed as Utterly Rigged

To the few who will ever hear about this.  Here is a massively important story that, of course, will never be allowed to impinge on the delicate consciousnesses of the American voters.  I give credit to the Los Angeles Times for even allowing it to appear on its business pages:

"NYSE fine may further erode investors' trust in stock markets

The New York Stock Exchange agreed to pay $5 million to settle charges that it made stock quotes available to select customers before the general public. The fine may further erode investors' trust in stock markets...

The Securities and Exchange Commission accused the Big Board of giving an "improper head start" to certain customers. The NYSE's trading system gave a "faster path" to some private customers, while a separate "software issue" delayed the publishing of data to the public, according to the SEC.

"Their biggest clients were getting a built-in advantage," said Sal Arnuk, a partner at Themis Trading in Chatham, N.J. "It's like seeing who won a horse race and being able to bet before everyone else."

Yes, for years, the big guys on Wall Street (that would be, I presume, people like Republican candidate Mitt Romney,) have been getting trading prices ahead of everyone else.

Of course, it was all just an accident. Here's a quote from the print story that did not make it into the online version:

"The timing differentials stemmed from technology issues, not from intentional wrongdoing by the exchange or any of its personnel," said Duncan Niederauer, the Big Board's chief executive."

Right.  "Yer honor, I never mugged that lady.  I don't know how her purse ended up in my closet."

A $5 million fine to people who unquestionably made tens of billions of profit from this illegal scheme, and of course no criminal charges and no one in jail.  That is like fining a serial rapist ten dollars and declaring that justice has been done.

This story reveals the absolute corruption that lies behind people like Mitt Romney being able to amass $100 million dollar IRA's, and have incomes of $22 million a year without doing any work, while the economy is in a shambles that those very rich guys caused.  Here's the ultimate insult of this whole story:

"Beyond that, experts said, it risks feeding the notion among disaffected small investors that the stock market is tilted against them...Small investors have suffered bruising losses in the stock market over the last decade..."

Let me repeat that; it's too good to only read once:  "it risks feeding the notion among disaffected small investors that the stock market is tilted against them."  It risks feeding the notion...could that possibly be because for years, the stock market was tilted against them, rigged in the most blatant manner to steal billions of their money and give it to rich insiders?  Oh, no, it only risks feeding the notion.

This nation is sick, being bled to death by people like Mitt Romney. And yet, a couple of demonstrations halfway around the world, or some perverted Church's refusal to provide health care to its employees are regarded by our pathetic press as far more important issues to force on the public consciousness.  Meanwhile, the ultra-rich will just find another dozen or two ways to rob us blind, knowing that they will never face any consequences.

Terrorist- Some We Should Just Ignore

While the country is utterly absorbed with the terrorists who attacked our consulate in Libya and killed four government staff members, we are just content to ignore other terrorist threats.  Here's some news from a situation that should be receiving equal attention, but is just being ignored by the media, for some reason:

"5 more charged in Ga. military militia case

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Four former Army soldiers and a civilian have been charged in new indictments for connections to an anti-government militia that authorities say was led by Fort Stewart troops who stockpiled weapons and talked of ultimately overthrowing the U.S. government.

A Liberty County grand jury indicted the five on charges of illegal gang activity and various counts involving theft, burglary and auto break-ins. Those crimes were committed to help fund the militia group, which called itself F.E.A.R., short for Forever Enduring Always Ready, District Attorney Tom Durden said Tuesday.

The new indictments Monday bring to 10 the total number of people charged in connection with the militia group.

Fort Stewart officials confirmed four of the men charged in the latest indictments are former soldiers ..."

Ten people now arrested in a well-financed plot (they had at least $87,000 in weapons and bomb materials) by American soldiers to assassinate Barack Obama.  This plot has already produced two murders, of people who the plotters feared would give them away, one of them a 17 year old girl.  And let me repeat, this was going on not thousands of miles away in Benghazi, Libya, but on a military base right here in the United States.  And yet no one- no one- in the mainstream press seems to be willing to report this latest development.  The story above is from the Army Times, and but for them, even though I have been following this story, I would never have heard that the number of terrorists is now at least ten.

An ugly reckoning is coming in this country.  God only knows how much more of this sort of thing exists right now, while we foam at the mouth at foreign fanatics who have virtually no chance to do us any damage.

"Trailer"

Well, for anyone interested, here is the "trailer" for the video that incited the violence in Egypt and Libya:

As you can see it isn't a trailer at all, just a collection of offensive and ludicrously inept scenes from the video.  At this point, I'm not sure if the rioting was motivated by the cheesy insults to Islam, or a proper sense of outrage at the quality of the acting.

I just want to say that I think that it is very important that someone gets to the bottom of who is responsible for this ugly piece of hatred.  We deserve to know who in our country deliberately produced this provocation; and if it has any connection to the party which has been deliberately fomenting violence against Muslims for eleven years now, I only pray that our country still has enough backbone to make them pay the price.

Update:  Well, now we seem to know that the film in question was produced by Coptic (i.e. Egyptian) Christians.  Well, now I want to suggest something that may be unpopular with many.  Given the centuries-long oppression of Coptic Christians by Muslims in Egypt, don't the Islamists there bear a good part of the blame for this act of hatred?

Smirking Goon

There isn't much I can add to the news about the goon Romney and his un-American, vicious attack on Obama yesterday.  I'd just like to post the following two pictures showing how thrilled with himself Romney was after his filthy comments:

He wasn't just willing to do something totally disgraceful- he was really proud of himself for doing it.  This man has no business having control over any of us, let alone being President of the United States.  He is a sickening, craven jerk.  If this hideous incident ends any chance he has to win the November election, it will be no more than he deserves, and it will bring an early end to the peril that we all would be in if he became the President.

I am finding it hard to find adequate words to express my contempt for this miserable excuse for a human being.  Sorry for not being up to the task.

More:

Well, here's someone who found the verbal wherewithal that I lacked.  From Daily Kos:

"One does not smirk when discussing a horrific act. No matter how much you feel the act may benefit you personally, presuming you are the sort of monster that thinks such things, one does not smirk when discussing acts of murder and violence. Even if you have the emotional capacity of a gnat, even if your own ambitions are so great that you cannot help it, one does not smirk. Not, at the very least, when the event is fresh, and the repercussions of the act still unknown, and the possibility of further violence still unclear. Even if you are indeed an outright monster, there ought to be no inner glee visible on your face as you stand before the nation to discuss how a set of still-fresh murders proves your own worth. That was the part where Mr. Romney turned from being a deplorable politician to being a repulsive human being. It is not worth condemning him, or demanding apologies from him, or even making fun of him; that one damn smirk told too long a story. Here is someone whose ambition outshines their empathy. Here is a person who, in times of stress, is first to probe whether it is exploitable to his advantage. Here is a person who focuses on such things to such a degree that he cannot even fully pretend to hide it.

...I could stomach Mitt as vapid charlatan. As a smirking, malevolent, outright bastard of a man, though, I am pleased to say that I am still a decent enough person to feel no sympathy for that. No, Richard Milhous Gantry here has got to go."

There's plenty more there.  Feel free to click on the link and see for yourself.

9-11...The Incompetence

And far worse than incompetence.  Here is a must-read article from the New York Times, giving many new details about how strongly the intelligence community tried to warn the Bush administration about Al Qaida attacks, in the six months or so before 9-11.  The famous "Bin Laden determined to strike within the U.S." briefing turns out to have been only one of many, by intelligence officials who became so distressed at the Bush administration's lack of concern that, at one point, they considered resigning en masse.

Here is a predictable but sickening revelation from the article:

"But some in the administration considered the warning to be just bluster. An intelligence official and a member of the Bush administration both told me in interviews that the neoconservative leaders who had recently assumed power at the Pentagon were warning the White House that the C.I.A. had been fooled; according to this theory, Bin Laden was merely pretending to be planning an attack to distract the administration from Saddam Hussein, whom the neoconservatives saw as a greater threat. Intelligence officials, these sources said, protested that the idea of Bin Laden, an Islamic fundamentalist, conspiring with Mr. Hussein, an Iraqi secularist, was ridiculous, but the neoconservatives’ suspicions were nevertheless carrying the day."

I mention this particularly because it was the Bush Administration's adherence to patently nonsensical right wing cant that also led to the economic collapse of 2008.  The right in this country lives in a fog of delusion, in which no idiocy, no conspiracy theory, is too far-fetched, as long as it does not interfere with the right of the rich to rape the rest of us.  We are all going to be paying for failing to stop these criminal maniacs for the rest of our lives, and until they are eliminated from our country for good, they are going to continue to pose by far the greatest threat to our security.

Romney Gets Ready For the Massacre

I was interested in a Daily Kos story about the Romney campaign, awash in so much money that they can hardly find a way to spend it, pulling its ads from the vital State of Ohio this week.  Kos speculates that they may have already given up on Ohio, and goes on to say:

"Since the Romney campaign ain't talking, all we can do is speculate. Are they running short on cash? They've been hoarding general election money raised all year, but they can spend it now. Why wait the extra week? Maybe they're being forced to retool their message after their convention failed to move any numbers: If your unchallenged 3-4 hour infomercial gets no traction, spending hundreds of millions with that same message might not be a smart idea."

I want to advance another and, I think, far more plausible theory.   Given the nature of the Romney campaign, which so far has consisted of nothing but lies, deceptively edited videos, and more lies, here is what I think they are up to.  They are hoarding their hundreds of millions of dollars until the last three weeks of the campaign, when they are going to release an unending blizzard of malignant smears against Obama, beyond anything the world has ever seen, hoping that the time until the election will be too short for an effective rebuttal.

We'll see, but I fear the worst- a dirty campaign that truly would have made Joseph Goebbels proud.

Wingnut Wrapup- Convention Edition

I've really been very neglectful of Wingnut Wrapup lately because, in the runup to the conventions, practically all of the wingnuts coalesced behind the Romney party line.  Consequently, for quite a while there, the right blogosphere has been dead boring.  However, the miserable failure that was their convention, followed by the amazingly well produced Democratic one, have predictably unhinged them again, and it is business as usual.  So, time for Green Eagle to get back to work.

Today's Wingnut Wrapup is respectfully dedicated to Dick Morris (the man who is never right,) who confidently predicted that Bill Clinton was going to use his speech to sabotage Obama, and when Clinton didn't come through on Dick's promise, had this to say:

"On Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” on Wednesday night, onetime Bill Clinton ally (now foe) Dick Morris suggested the former president secretly wants Barack Obama to lose the election but won’t say so publicly because the Obama administration is holding Hillary Clinton hostage and it will kill her if he loses."

Yes, you read that right. Obama has kidnapped Hillary and is threatening to kill her.  And in a perfect sign of how deranged the right is in this country, this man was given a place on national television to utter this claim, with no one willing to contradict him.  Well, onward and upward- I mean no one could be lower than Dick Morris, so whatever follows must be better, right?

Town Hall:  "Before DNC Acceptance Speech, Obama Begs for Campaign Cash "

Because it is so much more seemly to just take tens of millions from crooks and lobbyists in private.

Neal Boortz, Town Hall:  "By now you certainly know that the Democrats have been suffering from a self-inflicted injury since their convention began in Charlotte on Tuesday. For the first time in many presidential election years, the word God was omitted from their platform."

Big deal.  I mean really.  Republicans, could you get any more childish?  Well, at least there's one self-inflicted injury the Dems didn't suffer from- the guy with the empty chair.

Michael Reagan, Town Hall:  "Four More Years of Failure"

What, we're going back to George W. Bush?  Hey, I guess we are if Mitt is elected.  Thanks, Michael, for being so honest about it.

Michelle Malkin, Town Hall:  "Circus of the Vagina-gogues"

Ever tasteful.  Boy, something really has Michelle on a tear these days.  And it ain't pretty.

Town Hall:  "Lackluster Obama DNC Speech: Change is Hard!   A Small And Angry President"

And which planet did you see that on?  Oh right, it's that "angry black man" thing.  Can't neglect that dog whistle.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Dems: We Totally Support Banning Corporate Profits"

Why sure they do.  Sure they do.  Wisdom from Town Hall's Junior Liar in Training, Katie Pavlich.  But wait, Katie is not done spewing her hatred for today:

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Democratic Chairman: Christians Want Jews Slaughtered"

Oh yeah, that's just what Democrats believe.  That's just what they are going to run on.  And here is the sort of response Katie's ugliness gets from Conservatives:

Michelle Malkin:  “ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING! Intrepid investigative journalist Katie Pavlich rips the lid off Team Obama’s murderous corruption and anti-Second Amendment zealotry"

The "murderous corruption" and "anti-second-amendment zealotry" that needs a Katie Pavlich, because no sane American can find any trace of either.  Like I said, Michelle really seems to be off her meds this week.

Emmett Tyrell, Town Hall:  "Who cares about what Bill Clinton says?"

Yeah, who cares?  Funny, Emmett, you guys were afraid to even bring out your last President.  I wonder why that was?  People still love Clinton.  If he could run again, he'd beat Romney by the biggest margin in U.S. history, and you know it damned well.

Town Hall:  "Obama advisers don't expect big bounce in polls"

They don't expect no bounce, either.  That's what Romney got after "expecting" an 11% bounce.  Sorry, it didn't happen.  Republicans, we feel your pain.

And here's something from before Clinton's speech, brought to you with nostalgia:

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "Will Clinton 'Go Rogue' Tonight at the DNC?"

Wishful thinking from the guys who had their convention's star speaker talk to a chair.  Sorry, Republicans.  It didn't happen.  Unless "going rogue" is a translation for "ripping Mitt a new one."  Republicans were so desperate after their convention, that I could have filled this whole post with this sort of thinking, but I will leave it here.

Michelle Malkin, Town Hall:  "Obama's (Un)American Auto Bailout...But like all of the economic success stories manufactured by the White House, the $85 billion government handout is a big fat farce."

1,100,000 jobs saved.  A big fat farce.  Well, at least we know how much Republicans really care about "jobs, jobs, jobs."

And by the way, there goes Michelle again.  Girl, get a grip.

Barry Rubin, Pajamas Media:  "The Democratic Platform: Not One Word on Islamism "

They didn't go along with one of the right's favorite delusions-  what a miserable mistake.  And you know what?  They didn't even talk about the evils of water fluoridation, or the Illuminati!  They are utterly indifferent to the real threats facing this country, the dogs.

Roger Kimball, Pajamas Media:  "Clinton’s Speech: Nasty, Brutish, and Long"

Hmm, an interesting take.  Why would Roger feel that way?

"I snorted with contempt when the Left greeted Paul Ryan’s speech with the charge that it was full of “lies” (or, as someone at Salon put it, “brazen lies.”) As I and many others have pointed out, a look at the “factcheckers” of Ryan’s speech not only showed that he hadn’t lied, but that he wasn’t even mistaken:The $716 billion Obamacare pilfers from Medicare, the plant closing in Janesville — all that happened just the way Ryan said it did."

Lying about the fact-checking of the lies.  You know what it looks like when you stand between two mirrors and look into one of them, and it seems to go on forever?  Well, that's the Republicans, only you don't get endless tax cuts for the rich in the mirrors.

J. Christian Adams, PJ Media:  "Lee Atwater couldn’t have written a better script for the Democratic National Convention that just ended in Charlotte. The Charlotte fiasco was a less violent version of the fiasco in Chicago in 1968, except the lunacy was now inside the venue, not outside...The young radicals of 1968 have become the old radicals who now control the Democrat Party. They put on a convention this week characterized by incompetence, radicalism, and race."

A perfect example by this anti-American Bush Administration tool, of the Republicals' attempt to accuse the Democrats of everything that Republicans do wrong, thus muddying the waters.  Incompetence, radicalism and race is a virtually perfect description of the Republicans' Tampa fiasco, so they ludicrously accuse the Democrats, who just ran an almost perfect convention, of the same thing.

Alan Caruba, Renew America:  "The DNC's orgy of lies and hypocrisy...So far there is little to be believed in the course of the Democratic Party convention. It is a great concoction of half-truths, distortions, and outright lies. The hypocrisy fills the convention all like the musk of a dead, decaying animal corpse."

And another example of Republican projection as a political tactic.

James Lewis, American Thinker:  "Barack Obama is an odd bird in American presidential politics...because he is so far out of the norm that he doesn't instinctively follow all the standard moves.  American politicians have a certain standard set of rituals..."

The first and most important of which is to be born white.  Obama failed that one right off the bat, and he hasn't even tried to correct it.

Well, there's so much more, but that's enough for now.  Romney is launching his latest $100 million dollar corporate financed lie blitz today, so I'm sure that will give the wingnuts lots to be happy about.  They'll be crowing away again, filled with pride at their rich, Wall Street vulture of a candidate, so I'm sure there will be lots more fun for us in the near future.  See you soon.

A Note About the Military Terrorists

Here's a nice article from Crooks and Liars with the following title:

"Georgia Militia Terrorists Fit DHS Bulletin Profile Perfectly"

As I predicted (it didn't really take much in the way of prescience,) this group, which the entire mainstream press is calling anarchists, i.e. some sort of liberals, is really nothing but one more out of control pack of right wing haters.  But God forbid that anyone should point this out, or some person of truly massive stature like Michelle Malkin or Pam Geller might call them bad names.

We are still burdened in this country with an in-the-tank press that will do whatever it has to in order to obscure the truly horrific storm that is brewing on the right in this country.  They bear a major part of the blame for all that has gone wrong here for the last thirty years, and they are going to continue smugly providing cover for the people that are really our greatest threat, even while those people ride a tidal wave of hatred, lies and greed to power over all of us.

Lying Mitt- A Compilation

As a sort of public service, I would like to link to this post, which links to thirty weekly articles in which Steve Benen documents a grand total of 533 lies told by Mitt Romney in the last thirty weeks.  As Fred Clark, who put together this compilation, points out:

"Mitt Romney lies. A lot. He lies more than any other national candidate for office in my lifetime. And I was born before the Nixon administration."

Maybe he lies more than anyone in the history of the world- oh, except for his vice presidential pick, who is pretty much running neck and neck with him.

Well, not much to be said about this, really, but here it is.  Thanks, guys, for putting this together for those few remaining voters who care about the truth.

Your Liberal Press- Washington Post Edition (Chapter 372,664 or so)

For a real taste of the mainstream media's intended treatment of the next two months in politics, you need look no farther than this article in the Washington Post, by Jennifer Rubin.  I leave it to you to decide if the following is the product of unapologetic lying or of a state of hallucinatory psychosis.

"The Romney team knew it was a good night, a very good night...Or to paraphrase New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, they think they’ve taken a big step toward earning the respect, if not the love, of the voters."

Let us remember that this comment refers to a night in which Clint Easwood...well, did whatever he did...and then Romney bored the country (or the small part of  it that was watching) into such a state of ennui that many were reduced to counting the times he smacked his lips (Democratic Underground documents 101, in case you are interested.)

"Romney’s senior advisers believe...they have gone a significant way in defanging the Bain attacks. By embracing Bain more fully and offering details to explain Romney’s sense of pride in his business accomplishments, they are cautiously optimistic that Bain now conjures up more positive associations (leadership, persistence, attention to detail, trust) than negative ones (“vulture” capitalism).
Senior advisers think their summer gamble paid off. They let the negative ads rain down on them for months. Now they hope the stories of Romney’s fellow Mormons and his Bain colleagues and businesses will make President Obama’s attacks look silly and small"

Oh yes, the fact that Romney visited some guy in the hospital will make people totally forget that he made himself obscenely rich by destroying thousands of other people's jobs.  And of course the fact that Romney has a "sense of pride" in that is really a wonderful thing- almost as touching as Reinhard Heydrich's sense of pride in his sterling civil administration of Czechoslovakia.

"Perhaps as interesting were the tone and reaction of the media. They are in person as cynical and snarky as they often appear on air and in print. But over the week you could see grudging admiration for the professionalism and improvement in a campaign operation that has sometimes seemed amateurish"

Over the week... until Clint took the stage.  And by the way, just how professional do you have to be to put on a three day orgy of boredom?

"As for the Obama camp, I suspect there were some worried glances and furrowed brows last night."

Jennifer "suspects" the Obama camp were worried.  Not a shred of evidence for this suspicion, not even the usual "anonymous administration source."  But her factless claims are still adequate to find a place in today's Washington Post.

"They probably will be more adept than their surrogates in the punditocracy who think shouting “Liar!” and “Extreme!” is sufficient."

It makes no difference that the claims that Romney and Ryan are extremists and liars are totally true.  No, they are "shouting" the truth, and that is not acceptable behavior, in the opinion of the Washington Post.  It is far more becoming when Romney and Ryan quietly set forth their endless lies.   Republican lies- well, that's just business as usual, but Democrats getting upset about being the targets of their lies- how gauche.

"You get the sense that the Obama team must have known that at some point Romney would break through the media filter and convey his innate decency to voters."

An innate decency which, let us make it clear, does not exist.  Innately decent people don't use their position to become obscenely wealthy at the expense of thousands of others left destitute.  No matter how many Thanksgiving dinners Romney serves or how many people he visits in the hospital, he cannot expunge that history.  Romney's behavior over his business career is a perfect microcosm of everything that has spun totally out of control in this country, and it is staggering that the Republicans had the gall to nominate him for president.

"For all the money and effort, the Obama campaign is farther away at the end of the summer than it was at the beginning in demonizing Romney."

Really? Funny, all the polls suggest that the more people hear about Romney the more they dislike him.  Of course, that is a "fact," something that is not very significant any more at the Washington Post.

"...this week demonstrated that the campaign officials are more skilled than they have been depicted, and their errors and stumbles have in large part been obliterated in the lingering glow of the convention."

Like I said, psychotic delusion, or merely more lies?  We report, you decide.
