Wingnut Wrapup

Yes, it's once again time to dump a load of howling derision on the most deserving characters in the world, our wingnut brothers:

Larry Elder, Town Hall: "Shirley Sherrod, Quit While You're Ahead"

Yeah, from one "black" person to another, shut up! How dare you reveal Andrew Breitbart to be not a principled journalist, but a typical lying right wing smear master. After all, he's only following orders.

Janice Shaw Crouse, Town Hall: " Clinton Wedding Raises Questions of Interfaith Marriage"

It does? With who? I mean, really, who cares? What's the matter with you people- the country is collapsing all around you and this sort of thing is all you care about. Please, grow up some time soon.

Erick Erickson, Red State: " Did the Federal Government Cause the BP Oil Spill?"

Well, in a way they did, Erick. When Bush and Cheney told the oil industry in secret meetings that they could do any damned thing they wanted, and no one would interfere, they certainly helped get us where we are today. Satisfied with this answer? No, I didn't think so.

Confederate Yankee: "No, Texas Hasn't Been Invaded"

Too bad.

Lady Liberty, Gateway Pundit: "Finally!…Ronald Reagan Gets His Day"

How about the anniversary of the 2008 stock market crash?

Chris Adamo, Renew America: "Real America did not sue Arizona"

Because the "Real America" that you are talking about only exists in some other galaxy.

Sher Zieve, Renew America: "Has the time come to replace the federal government?"

Why, that's the patriotic, American thing to do, isn't it, Sher. Sheesh, they rave on about how this is the greatest country EVER, and a minute later they're ready to dump the whole thing in the garbage because they can't stand the fact that we elected a black man President. What a bunch of asses.

Jenn Giroux, Renew America: "Mel Gibson and the cleverness of Satan: "It is the reality"

Because, according to Jenn, Mel is a wonderful person, and he only did the things he did because Satan took him over. Sorry, girl, I ain't buyin' it.

World Net Daily: "Papers prepped to disbar Elena Kagan"

Fat chance. This is being done by Larry Klayman, who has spent the last two decades preparing "papers" to screw some Democrat or other. I'm just surprised that Orly Taitz isn't involved.

Michael Filozof, American Thinker: "What Is the Endgame for Conservatives?"

Holy war against everyone on earth that isn't a racist lunatic. And no taxes for white people. That just about sums it up.

Donald Lambro, Town Hall: "In a campaign strategy that comes directly from the White House high command, Democrats are ditching President Obama's 2008 campaign promise of political reconciliation and attempting to smear the GOP by tying it to the tea party movement."

Ha ha. The scoundrels- smearing Republicans by daring to tell the truth! Is nothing out of bounds in today's politics?

Meredith Turney, Town Hall: "Milton Friedman’s Enduring Legacy"

The depression of 2008? The greatest income disparity since the last depression? About fifty million greed maddened right wingers running around swearing that the less you make, the more you make? Those are my guesses. A legacy to be proud of, huh?

Confederate Yankee, talking about the Breitbart smear job on Shirley Sherrod: "The video was not heavily edited... it wasn't edited at all. It was merely an excerpt..."

Oh, an "excerpt." Carefully selected to present the exact opposite impression from what Shirley Sherrod was really saying. But not "edited." Oh no, they would never do that. That would be dishonest.

Richard Baehr, American Thinker: "Barack Obama's presidential election victory in 2008 represents the most successful new product introduction in American history."

Really? I would have thought that was LSD. Which, Richard, I suspect you are on.

Robin of Berkeley, American Thinker: "I recently received an e-mail that made my skin crawl. It was in response to a spiritually oriented article. The e-mailer, Carl, penned the following, which was short, but not sweet: Jesus and his followers must be destroyed. They are responsible for all the evil in the world."

How abominable, particularly when we know perfectly well from Robin's website that Muslims are responsible for all the evil in the world.

Incidentally, I see that Jim Hoft just had surgery. A speedy recovery, Jim...Wingnut Wrapup just wouldn't be the same without you.

Republican Lunacy- It's Still Here

I hope the people at Daily Kos will not mind my just quoting this rather long excerpt, as it states the facts pretty perfectly:

"Ah, the number 13. Always a source of fear. That's certainly true for Iowa Republicans who hope to strike fear in the hearts of Democrats by using the 13th amendment. They don't mean the current 13th amendment, the one outlawing slavery. That one they'd just as soon forget. No, says Iowa's GOP, the 13th amendment that the rest of the nation is following is not the real deal.

Instead, it wants to reintroduce the "original 13th Amendment" first offered by senator Phillip Reed of Maryland in 1810. The amendment states that "if any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive or retain any title of nobility or honor” from a "foreign power, such person shall cease to be a citizen" and "shall be incapable of holding any office of trust."

Why should Iowa Republicans be so interested in passing an amendment that failed 150 years ago? Because Barack Obama won a little thing called the Nobel Prize. That's right, Iowa Republicans want to pass a constitutional amendment that would strip Obama of his citizenship... for winning the Nobel Prize. Take that, birthers! Time to step up your game."

The intent of the Iowa Republicans is to replace the current 13th amendment with this ridiculous relic. The take on this is that the fact that it would make slavery legal again would just be an unintended consequence. If you believe that, you still have your head in some very thick clouds. I have been saying as long as I have had this blog that sooner or later we would hear these people start to suggest that slavery wasn't such a bad idea, and that the Federal government has no right to outlaw it. Well, here's another baby step toward the time five or ten years from now when we will see the likes of Newt Gingrich and Pat Buchanan openly advocating the right of people to own other people.

This is how far into evil the Republican party has sunk. And it gets a little bit worse every day.

I Disagree With Kos

From Daily Kos today:

"Breitbart Was the Problem, Not "Bloggers"

Sorry, Breitbart was not the problem. The problem is the mainstream press which for three decades now has virtually promised Republicans that no matter how stupid, dishonest and dangerous their claims are, they will be treated as though they were absolutely reasonable.

Until the press starts telling the truth, this country is sunk. And unfortunately, I don't have a clue what would make them do that. Particularly unless the Democrats get some guts and start telling the truth themselves.

And I Can See Why

"Bush Memoir Release Has Republicans Concerned "

Well, I wouldn't worry if I were you, guys. The people who it will be suitable for are all way too young to vote.

Important News!

This just in:

"Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian leader, says Paul the Octopus, the sea creature that correctly predicted the outcome of World Cup games, is a symbol of all that is wrong with the western world. "

Mahmoud, somewhere there's a tea party that could really use you. Well, look on the bright side. There must not be much wrong with us if Paul the Octopus sums it all up.

Global warming pushes 2010 temperatures to record highs

From The Guardian.

Just sayin'

Stimulus Truth

From the New York Times, via Americablog:

"In a new paper, the economists argue that without the Wall Street bailout, the bank stress tests, the emergency lending and asset purchases by the Federal Reserve, and the Obama administration’s fiscal stimulus program, the nation’s gross domestic product would be about 6.5 percent lower this year.

In addition, there would be about 8.5 million fewer jobs, on top of the more than 8 million already lost; and the economy would be experiencing deflation, instead of low inflation.

The paper, by Alan S. Blinder, a Princeton professor and former vice chairman of the Fed, and Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, represents a first stab at comprehensively estimating the effects of the economic policy responses of the last few years.

“While the effectiveness of any individual element certainly can be debated, there is little doubt that in total, the policy response was highly effective,” they write. "

Yes, the stimulus averted a total depression. Go read the whole article- I think it's one of the most important things I have read recently.

Of course, the usual voices are out there lying their asses off already about this:

"Told about the findings, another leading economist was unconvinced.

“I’m very surprised that they find these big impacts,” said John B. Taylor, a Stanford professor and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution. “It doesn’t correspond at all to my empirical work.”

A "leading economist" who is a "senior fellow at the Hoover Institution," i.e. a paid corporate liar, whose "empirical work" undoubtedly starts and ends with a calculation of how much less he will get paid if he dares to tell the truth.

Have I Mentioned This Lately?

Bobby Jindal is really stupid.

I Can't Believe I'm Saying This

Smart Republican: Rep. Jason Chaffetz:

“Most people are hesitant about pulling out because they don’t want to look like they have their tail between their legs,” Chaffetz said. “If the reason we should stay in Afghanistan is because we are in Afghanistan then it is time to re-evaluate your position.”

Dumb Democrat: His Opponent, Karen Hyer, Chaffetz' Democratic oponent:

"she said the Republican’s vote against this funding was “irresponsible” and described it as “the grandstanding of an inexperienced freshman congressman.”

Hyer believe the funding is necessary to continue and conclude ongoing missions.

“We should support our men in uniform who are currently in harm’s way,” she said."

And the way to support them is to let them die for nothing. I've been waiting since Vietnam for someone to explain to me how that works.

Bush and Cheney blew it over there long ago, and everybody knows it. History is full of people who let their soldiers die long after it was clear that they had lost the war, rather than lose face. And history has not been kind to these people.

Wingnut Wrapup

Some internet problems and a real heavy workload have prevented GE from posting much, but here's a little Wingnut Wrapup, just to prove that reading these guys' comments hasn't finally rotted my brain away for good.

Protest the Left: "House Democrats vote to illegally silence everyone but unions"

And Protest the Left too, apparently. They don't seem to have succeeded in silencing you, more's the pity. Or any of the rest of your lying wingnut comrades.

Howard Rich, Town Hall: "Contrary to Barack Obama’s rhetoric about protecting consumers, his new financial reform law represents...the latest example of America’s “march to Marxism”

Sure. Preventing giant corporations from ripping off virtually every American in existence- what could you call that but Marxism? You guys really understand politics.

Now, Jim Hoft is on a real campaign of late- he seems determined to take over the title "most obnoxious liar on Wingnut Wrapup, since Pam Geller got permanently red carded here:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Whoa! New Journolist Documents Show How Liberal Media Formed Plan of Attack to Destroy Sarah Palin"

What, by telling the truth about her? Because that's all it really takes.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Rep. King: “Shirley Sherrod’s Initial Hiring Should Be Investigated”...Rep. King says there ought to be an investigation on this if the GOP wins back the gavel in November."

Sure, sure. What a pack of sore losers. Next thing the Republicans will be opening a hearing to see if Jeffrey Dahmer's victims cooked up tender.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Dick Morris On Shirley Sherrod: “Its Like He Has Reverend Wright on His Staff”

Really? In what way? Oh, I get it- it's so obvious when you think about it. They're both bl.... I mean they're both communists or something.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Figures. Shirley Sherrod Is Linked to Terrorist Bill Ayers"

By a link so distant that you could connect her to the Pope with less steps. One more lie, but what else do these people have to peddle.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Surprise. Congressional Black Caucus Supports Racist Sherrod"

How DARE they do that? Don't they realize that this is an implicit attack on Andrew "pimp and whore" Breitbart, the right's most valuable crusading journalist since Joseph Goebbels met his untimely end?

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Team Obama May Give Job Back to Racist Marxist NAACP Speaker Sherrod"

I just want to point out that every one of these posts on Shirley Sherrod was on Hoft's site the same day. Shirley Sherrod was the victim of a right wing smear campaign. Now, Hoft is continuing the disgusting, unconscionable attempt to destroy her rather than face what his party has become. One more example of conservatives being absolutely incapable of taking responsibility for anything.

Bryan Fischer, Renew America: "It's no longer "The Home Depot," it's now "The Homosexual Depot"

Bryan Fischer is the former executive director of the "Idaho Values Alliance. Apparently their "values" don't include telling the truth.

World Net Daily Obama Watch Central: "Congressman: Obama buying votes in Kenya"

What is this, some plot to allow Kenyans to vote for him in 2012? I mean, I've seen stupid stories before, but this one is right up at the top.

World Net Daily Exclusive: "Hamas-linked group behind 'Muslim' day at Six Flags"

Six Flags. So what?

William Tate, American Thinker: "Race Played Role in Obama Car Dealer Closures"

Maybe that's because only white people were dumb enough to buy Chryslers.

National Review Online: "Aliens may have been trying to contact us by communicating in a manner similar to Twitter, scientists have claimed."

Well, if you reach them, tell them to keep away from Arizona.

Dan Riehl, Riehl World View: "As regards the Sherrod matter...We do have a bunch of weak-kneed worrying dweebs on the right who prefer comforting themselves with self righteousness, as opposed to being down for the cause."

"Being down for the cause" apparently meaning being willing to stoop to any dishonesty, no matter how low. Good set of family values you're pushing there, Dan.

Coalition to Save America: "Our Goal: To immediately build a voting coalition of 20 MILLION conservatives by December 2009. Sounds unrealistic?"

Yup.

Ilana Mercer, World Net Daily: "this country has the steepest, most progressive tax system among all Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries. "

And if you believe that, I have some Enron stock that I'll let you have real cheap.

Dan Riehl. Riehl World View: "we need a Breitbart "

For what, in God's name?

And finally, for a look at the bigger picture, here's a comment from our friend, Henry Makow:

Henry Makow: "The Satanist cult that has colonized mankind is meeting this week at Bohemian Grove 80 miles north of San Francisco. Over 2000 members -- the political, corporate, cultural and military elite of the world -- will be gathered for Satanic rituals, possibly including human ritual sacrifice. They have been meeting here since the 1880's."

A hundred and thirty years. Really, where has it gotten them? I guess Satanism isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Bad News for Rappers

"A giant sink hole in downtown Milwaukee swallowed up a Cadillac Escalade."

A Flash, or maybe A Flush From the Past

In Green Eagle's lunatic meanderings through the sewer that is today's conservatism, he rarely comes across anything which gives him as much innocent amusement as the following scholarly essays, written by one Robert Firth, at the time of the 2008 election, and which so well encapsulate both the vision and the values of our wingnut brethren:

"WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR...MY PREDICTIONS FOR 2009

Illegal aliens: Now that they have been voted into power, look for the "Filthy Libs" to pass laws providing immediate amnesty for the 20 odd million illegal aliens already living on the largess of the American Taxpayers. In 4 years they will be sworn in as citizens and permitted to vote, thus guaranteeing nobama and his liberal pals permanent control. The days of America being run by common sense conservatives is over- Our once great country is headed now into the dust bin of history..."

Whoops- wrong on prediction one- the "filthy libs" haven't even suggested such a thing, and it's already halfway through 2010! And by the way, the days of America being run by common sense conservatives ended on January 6, 1919, when Teddy Roosevelt died. Let's move on:

"State and early elections: In NJ, Virginia and other state and early elections Americans will rise up and defeat the obama minions and black ass kissers. The voters will demonstrate to the filthy lbs that they aren't at all interested in turning America into a socialist paradise."

Wow! that didn't happen either! Some Dems lost, and some Republicans lost. Nobody rose up to defeat the ass kissers! What a shame, huh?

"Health reform: Peloose and Reid will loose. American's overwhelmingly reject govern intrusion into their personal business."

Wrong, wrong, WRONG on count three! "Peloose" (whatever that is supposed to imply- that she's a cheap date?) and Reid didn't lose. Imagine that! Guy, you just aren't doing that well with the prediction thing.

"The economy: The America we knew is gone, never to be resurrected. Look for the dollar to massively inflate as the filthy libs, pandering to their wretched constituents, feverishly print more and more greenbacks! nobama wants to hire his black ghetto pals to shovel dirt on public projects- this is his idea of saving the economy. Imagine a typical ghetto gang member, a drug pushing wog, with dreadlocks, a gold grill, nose and ear rings being offered minimum wage to work making roads.......... Good grief! the idea fairly boggles the mind!"

Inflation? Nowhere to be seen, friend. And I never noticed that Obama has that many pals that could be described as " a typical ghetto gang member, a drug pushing wog, with dreadlocks, a gold grill, nose and ear rings," although I am sure that it would be an evil lie to suggest that your use of that phrase might reveal a little, tiny bit of racism in your soul. Well, wrong on count four, anyway!

"The Iranian bomb: Iran will get close to testing her WMD's and Israel will try to stop them by destroying the bomb making sites. Look for this action in the next few months."

Nope- wrong again, Mr. Seer of Wisdom.

"America: In 2009 there will be a lot of "chatter" about dividing our country- one half for the filthy libs and their voting underclass and another for the 50 million Conservatives who voted aganist nobama..Of course, without another civil war, this will never happen."

0 for 6, buster. The only "chatter" about splitting up the country came from greedy racist pigs like yourself. Well, I'm afraid we have to give you an F on that test, but let's move on to your views about Obama himself:

"The Doomsday President

This was written before the unfortunate election but it remains pertinent!"

Pertinent if you are a psychotic idiot.

"For all the Obama supporters; This is a reality check! I want to advise you of the consequences that I foresee in the event your candidate should win the election. If Obama wins, it should come as no surprise that he will become a serious target for assassination which, if successful, will start a race war unlike anything we have ever seen. Watts will seem like a Boy Scout picnic by comparison………"

" he will become a serious target for assassination..." And that is totally his fault too, for winning the election. " which, if successful, will start a race war unlike anything we have ever seen." Wrong- it won't be a race war because, contrary to what you seem to think, plenty of white people are actually decent human beings who aren't willing to destroy the country they claim to love rather than have a black president, so they will be on his side.

"Even if he somehow survives, the country will be completely torn apart and divided by deep hatreds. Racism, as we all know, is very much alive and most white Americans will not long stand for a black socialist president “spreading their wealth” as he has said he would do. ……. Thousands will move out of the country taking their guns and money with them, telling nobama to "keep the change!".

Boy, you sound proud that racism still thrives in our country. Well, those of you that want to take your guns and leave- bye! Why not move to Iran, where they will never have an African American president. You should be happy there. As for your threat to tear the country apart if we dare elect a black president, well, you guys are trying your best, but it isn't working out that well, is it?

" The dollar will become worthless…….. This is probably not what you want to see for our country. Chavez, Putin Amadinijad and all America’s enemies will laugh themselves silly."

You know, the dollar lost half of its value under Bush, and you never squealed away like you are now. Actually, it has gained value under Obama. And by the way, why are you so concerned with what Chavez and Amadinejad have to say? Maybe you are planning to move to Iran.

"Here’s the clincher. There are millions of dedicated white American patriots, (who) will stop at nothing to kill Pres Barry whom they see as a terrible danger to the survival their country. The list includes thousands of police and military trained individuals, many with the access, knowledge and means to take him out. It is not unlikely to assume that one of them will eventually succeed."

So that is what you are counting on and rooting for, huh, the assassination of the President? Not what we usually associate with the term "patriot." Really, closer to the term "traitorous, terrorist scum."

"If you agree with this analysis, tell everyone you know what will be the result if Obama wins…. if elected, he will be the beginning of a terrible conflagration that will destroy this great country…….and likely much of the world as well.. "

Well, no sign of that so far, asshole, but keep your hopes up. You never know.

Laugh of the Day

From CNBC:

"Wall Street Fumes At White House Fin Reg Rebuke

The White House’s decision not to invite the chief executives of JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs to today’s ceremonial signing of the financial overhaul legislation has many on Wall Street fuming.

President Obama signs the financial regulation bill into law at a White House ceremony, with two big bank CEOs not invited. JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon and Goldman Sachs chief Lloyd Blankfein were both left off the invitation list for the signing of the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill into law.

“It looks a bit like crony capitalism—the White House playing favorites and rebuking companies that don’t instantly agree that every policy coming out of the Democratic caucus on Capitol Hill is the most brilliant idea ever,” an executive at one of the companies whose chief got an invitation said."

You've just got to laugh. I wonder why Bush didn't invite Saddam Hussein to be there when he declared war on Iraq.

Give This Job a Try, Alvin

Talking Points Memo has managed to uncover some performance reviews of South Carolina "Democratic" Senate candidate Alvin Green from when he was in the military.

According to the report, he was "unable to express thoughts clearly," and
"not able to adapt to any changes to daily routine."

He was also described as potentially being a "a threat to others"

Well, that may not make for a very good Senator, but based on recent experience, it would apparently amount to perfect qualifications to be a Republican president.

Michelle Lays It Out

Michelle Bachmann's plan for Republican leadership if they take back control of Congress:

"According to Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., the House Republicans should exercise their power to subpoena and hold continuous hearings. "Oh, I think that’s all we should do,” Bachmann said. “I think that all we should do is issue subpoenas and have one hearing after another."

Well, that should certainly work to deal with our country's problems.

Boy, if the American voters fall for the Republican party's billion dollar smear campaign and put them back in the driver's seat, we are in for some rough times.

Fiscally Conservative?

A quote from Reuters:

"WASHINGTON, July 21 (Reuters) - A fiscally conservative Democrat who chairs the U.S. Senate's budget committee on Wednesday said he supports extending all of the tax cuts that expire this year"

The proper term for that is not "fiscally conservative." It's "corrupt."

Where in the World?

Take a look at these pictures:

What do you think? Iraq? Afghanistan? No, these photos are from here:

Yes, these are photos of violence in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico- just about three miles from downtown Laredo Texas.

Right next door, folks. How long will it be before we will be bringing those troops home from Afghanistan, in order to send them to fight in Texas? Oh well, at least maybe it will be a chance for George Bush to finish his national guard enlistment.

Maybe all of the American politicians over the decades who thought that it was just dandy for them to keep Mexico in peonage in order to profit big corporations ought to be thinking twice about that decision.

A Major Victory

From an excellent post at Crooks and Liars, here is a list of some of what the new Democratic financial reform legislation accomplishes:

"* Tighter consumer protections on credit cards and lending.
* Consumer Protection Agency
* The end of "too big to fail"
* Real time reporting and transparency
* Stronger requirements for bank capitalization
* Shareholders now have a say in CEO compensation.
* An end to "debit card fee bloat
* The Volcker Rule - Banks may no longer trade securities for their own profit while also managing customer investments."

Pretty amazing, considering that the substance of this bill is being ignored by the mainstream press, and savaged as another example of creeping communism by the Republicans.

It's not everything we could want by a long shot, but considering the fact that the opposition party has turned into a bunch of seditious terrorists, it is a substantial accomplishment. Too bad the press will see to it that most of the American people will never hear the truth about this legislation.

And let me point out something about this bill and the health care reform bill that I have not heard anyone say: These things prove that if we hang together, we can beat big business. After eight years of Bush and Cheney I am sure that many of you, like me, had just about given up on that notion. Well, they're fighting back like a pack of cornered baboons, but we can still put them back in their cages if we don't let the media and the Republicans convince us once again that it is all useless.

Right Wing Gunman Targeted ACLU

Remember the right wing police shooter from several days ago? You know, the one that the "liberal" press took almost no interest in?

From Talking Points Memo, you can learn:

"Anti-government shooting suspect Byron Williams has been charged with allegedly opening fire on police officers on Interstate 580 in Oakland, California, while on his way to "start a revolution" by attacking members of the ACLU...Police now say that Williams, an unemployed carpenter, told them that "his intention was to start a revolution by traveling to San Francisco and killing people of importance at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU," according to court documents."

Never heard of the Tides foundation? Well, you would have if you listened to Glenn Beck- it's one of his favorite targets.

When do you think we will have had enough of these incidents for the press to admit that the real terrorist threat in this country comes from our own home-grown, teabagging, "Christian" right wing? And do you think it will happen before or after one of these jackasses manages to pull off a really bloody attack?

It's a Start

From MSNBC:

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama signed into law Wednesday an overhaul of banking and Wall Street regulations that he says will end many of the practices that sent the U.S. economy into the worst recession since the 1930s.

The legislation gives the government new powers to break up companies that threaten the economy, puts more light on the financial markets that escaped the oversight of regulators and creates a new agency to guard consumers in their financial transactions.

Obama described them all as commonsense reforms that will help people in their daily life — signing contracts, understanding fees and assessing risks"

Republicans, on the other hand, had another description for them: "communism."

Like I say, it's a start, but in the end I'm afraid that it won't mean much until you are as likely to end up in prison for this kind of corrupt scam as you are for burglary.

Screw the Unemployed

Let's just stroll on over to that wonderful site, Renew America, which blends family values with Republican politics, to get our minimum daily dose of hateful ranting from one more greedy right wing bastard. Today's offering is from a self-described "Christian" by the name of Dan Popp, who apparently missed all of that helping the poor thing while he was absorbing Jesus' many speeches against homosexuality. I mean, really, when he talked about the wise and foolish virgins, what do you think he really meant by "foolish virgins?" Well, here we go:

"Deadbrains

By Dan Popp"

Well, not so bad so far. Just let me warn you- don't get your hopes up.

"Government help to the unemployed is just as disastrous as government help to business, or government help to unwed mothers, or government help to foreign countries, or to the homeless, or college students, or farmers, or sick people. Surely that's because help is not what government was created to do. It is the wrong tool for the job."

No, the right tool is smug, callous indifference. Because, of course, this would be such a better world if the government had, for example, not helped Europe regain stability after World War II, or if we just let sick people die in the street if they can't afford to pony up the dough (or chickens) for the doctor, or if we saw to it that you'd better have the bucks if you want to go to college (screw you, poor people- learn to keep your place. You know who I'm talking about, and they don't need tanning beds.)

"Government is a justice institution, not a mercy institution (Romans 13)."

Romans 13? What the hell does that have to do with anything? When was that acted into law? And while we are on the subject, let's look at what Romans 13 actually says:

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities... he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves...Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing."

Whew knew? So, not only did this filthy slime cite the bible to justify his piggish views, but he totally lied about what the bible says. In fact, if you were the bible-quoting type, you might want to use this passage as an utter refutation of the whole basis of the teabaggers' rage. But he's counting on us not to take the time to actually look at the words of God, so he could claim they mean any sick thing he says. Well, enough exegesis. On we go:

"Mercy institutions are things like churches and hospitals. Countries don't wage war by unleashing their hospitals. You wouldn't task churches with solving crimes. Why, then, would you try to use government to help people?"

Uhh, because churches don't have detectives, but governments do have people who are hired to help us?

"Now here we are again, with Congress and the President threatening to "help" the unemployed for the fourth or fifth time. as long as we can ignore our founding principles and the immutable laws of the universe."

Or as long as we can get away with just lying about the bible. Let me make myself clear here. I don't for one second think that these so-called Christians have any right to impose their sharia law on us, but if they are going to advocate that, at least they could try to have a shred of honesty about what Jesus really said.

And by the way, before we put the word "help" in parentheses, maybe we should ask the unemployed whether it "helps" them to get more unemployment benefits.

"Some months back I wrote that as government aid to the unemployed rises, unemployment rises. No one yet has been able to refute that assertion. But there is acknowledgment across the ideological spectrum that when the government increases or extends unemployment benefits, more people are out of work. This is a statistic, not an opinion. It's not a Conservative fact or a Liberal fact; it's just a fact."

Here is one of the most phenomenally disingenuous post hoc fallacies in the history of human thinking. Of course unemployment rises when government unemployment benefits are increased. But that is not because of the absurd notion that the benefits cause unemployment. The government raises unemployment benefits when the unemployment rate goes up- i.e. when the private sector has failed us. If you've ever heard the saying "figures don't lie, but liars can figure," well, here's a perfect example.

"If your choice is between taking a job far below your skill level and accustomed wage; and accepting an unemployment check and waiting for something better to come along, a lot of non-deadbeat people will take Option B, thank you very much. This is just human nature. If there is any humiliation left to being on the dole, it's cancelled out by the humiliation of taking a job as a "burger flipper." This stigma comes directly from the godless crowd who talk about "meaningful work" and "a living wage" and "dignity."

Because if there is one thing that God hates, it is "meaningful work" and "a living wage" and "dignity." No, if you are a laid off attorney or engineer who spent years developing your ability but are out of work because the companies you worked for "outsourced" your job, forget all of your background, willingly accept a job cleaning sewers or digging ditches, and like it. Because the world doesn't exist to serve you- it exists to further enrich the people who benefit when they destroy your job. No matter what you have accomplished in life, if someone can make a buck by putting you out on the street, you have no right to dignity. Well, at least Mr. Dan Popp doesn't have to worry about this. There is no job lower, no job less meaningful and with less dignity than willingly helping to destroy your fellow man.

"Jobs are available. They may be far from ideal jobs right now, but more and better jobs will not come along until the government ceases its attack on business"

I.e. cuts their taxes to zero and lets them do any damned thing they want, despite what the bible says in Romans 13.

"Call me names if that makes you feel better."

Okay, then. You are a moral degenerate on the level of child molesters. You are a filthy human monster who will gladly accede to the worst suffering in others as long as you personally can find a way to profit from it. And your "savior" is going to have some words to say to you in the end, about your deliberate lies about what he really had to say.

Have a nice day.

China flooding kills 701, worst toll in a decade

That's Obama's fault too.

I'm not sure how...I'll get back to you on that as soon as I check out the right wing blogs.

Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan approved by Senate Judiciary Committee

Communists!

Wingnut Wrapup

This is like the labors of Hercules- The more crap we clean out, the more they truck in:

Erick Erickson, Red State: "Americans have now learned about the extreme views of Solicitor General Elena Kagan, President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court...Senators should filibuster her nomination to stop her sitting on the highest court in the land."

Of course, Americans have learned no such thing, since she doesn't have any extremist views. Still, why not start the day out with a big fat lie? Got to keep in practice...

Michael Van Cleve, Pajamas Media: "Why the Russian Spy Case Matters"

Because wingnuts just might, maybe, find out a way to use this utterly boring incident to blame something else on Obama.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Sarah Palin Bashes Plans For Ground Zero Mosque"

So what?

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "WaPo Writer Milloy: It’s Not Just Tea Partiers – White People Are Angry, Vindictive & Racists...Amazing, really, how people from German, Irish, English, Italian, Polish, French, Welsh, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian and Russian backgrounds can land on American shores and coalesce around a racial category concocted solely to exploit others."

Well it is sort of amazing, Jim, but there you go- that's what happened. A whole lot of us have gotten over it, thank heaven, but not you and your teabag friends, and you don't show any interest in stopping any time soon.

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America: "Tea party leaders too easily put on the defensive. Stop it!"

Yeah... after all, it takes so little effort to call some Democrat the new Hitler.

Matt C. Abbot, Renew America: "Back to Mel's situation. Is he a racist? I don't know; hopefully not. Is he an anti-Semite? I don't know; hopefully not."

Just because he has a family history in the holocaust denial movement and has a tendency to scream abuse at Jews when he's drunk? Well, is that really enough to say he's an antisemite? After all, he's rich. If he were really an antisemite he could build some new concentration camps. 'Till then, I'm reserving judgment.

Alan Caruba, Renew America: "Ridding ourselves of Obama..."Who will rid me of this meddling priest?" England's King Henry II was reputed to have said of Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury. In 1170, his complaint was obliged when Becket was murdered on a cold December evening."

What, exactly, dear reader, do you think this nauseating scum suggesting here? I think you may be on to something if it occurs to you that he may be hoping that someone kills Obama. Alan continues:

"The drawback of impeachment is the way it would inevitably cast Obama as the victim of predatory politicians."

Yeah, only because he would be "the victim of predatory politicians." Think about that, you dick.

J. R. Dunn, American Thinker: "Obama is on his way to becoming the most hated president of the modern epoch."

Really? I guess your party's billion dollar investment in attacking him is paying off, huh? Actually, of course, this is just another big fat lie, so just keep telling yourself that everybody hates Obama. Actually, his popularity is higher than Reagan's was at this point in his first term, so maybe Reagan is the most hated president of the modern epoch. I sure hope so, since he sent us right down the road to the hell we're in now.

Astute Bloggers: "Antarctic cold snap kills nine in Argentina. A spell of extreme cold weather has brought ice and snow to much of Argentina, killing at least nine. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS AGW.
AGW = BS.

Here they go again. The last several months have been the hottest in known history. But, let it snow somewhere and they trot out their tired lies. Who will rid us of these meddlesome bloggers?

Astute Bloggers: "(This reveals) the moral bankruptcy of the left. Obama and Holder failed to get Polanski. They allowed a SERIAL child rapist and a mass murderer to go free."

Obama and Holder, you see, control the judicial system of Switzerland. Why, all they had to do was threaten to nuke Geneva, and the Swiss would have torn Polanski to shreds. That's how a real man would have handled the problem.

Astute Bloggers: "THE AUDACITY OF THE LYING SON OF A BITCH IN THE WHITE HOUSE...President Barack Obama is taking aim at Senate Republicans, accusing them of playing politics with measures that would extend benefits to the unemployed and increase lending to small businesses. Obama said the GOP leadership has chosen to "filibuster our recovery and obstruct our progress" by blocking votes on agenda items the president says would breath life into the economic recovery.

FOR OBAMA TO BLAME THE MINORITY IS A FREAKIN' OUTRAGE.
THE CONGRESSIONAL GOP HAVEN'T STOPPED JACKSHIT.
BLAMING THE GOP AND RIGHT TAKES TRUE AUDACITY. WE CAN SHUT THIS LYING LEFT-WING SON OF BITCH'S PIE-HOLE THIS NOVEMBER: VOTE GOP!"

The truth hurts, huh, Astute ones. Still, calm down there. You don't want to have a stroke before the revolution, do you?

And the Stupid Law of the Day, from Riehl World View. Here's where your Republican party is taking us, folks:

"Everyone from lobbyists to lawyers and journalists is rushing to get permits to carry guns inside the Texas Capitol, where legislators already often tote pistols in boots and purses or stow them away inside their desks.

A unique loophole in a new security procedure means a gun permit is like a special-access pass into the domed building, allowing people who are certified to carry a gun to bypass lines at the metal detectors that were set up after a shooting incident earlier this year."

Just great. Because of a shooting incident, everyone needs to go through a metal detector except people with guns. Man, is that going to work out.

Dan Riehl, Riehl World View: "They'll Blame Obama's Racial Divisiveness On Us"

But only if they can see the truth right in front of their faces, Dan. So, chances are, you'll get away with it.

Big Government: "Obama Trying to Conceal Oil Spill"

I wouldn't worry if I were you, guys. I think most people know about it already.

Christopher Horner, Big Government: "UK Facing Blackouts from Obama Energy, Environment Policies"

First Switzerland, and now England? Obama wrecked them too?

Publius, Big Government: "Today, in 1979, the Sandinista’s took control of Nicaragua. There are people who will never get that time back."

What, you mean the time when they had a democratically elected government, before it was driven out of power by a pack of narco-terrorists illegally financed by Ronald Reagan? I can see why they might miss that time.

Thomas Del Beccarro, Big Government: "How the West Can Be Won By Republicans"

Just spend a whole lot of money telling a bunch of lies. That's what's worked for you in the past.

Joseph Farah, World Net Daily: "Will NAACP repudiate racism?"

That's what they do, Joseph. They've been doing it for sixty years or so. Apparently, that's not really what you want:

"I take it personally when someone accuses me or any movement or organization of which I am a part of racism. "

Then stop doing it, you stupid jackass. See, it's so simple when you think about it.

The Right Wing Hits Continue

Now we have news of a guy by the name of Byron Williams. Here's his picture:

Byron had a little spat with the police recently. From San Francisco Weekly, this comment:

"If a writer crafted a character like Byron Williams -- the 45-year-old felon in serious condition after exchanging gunfire with state troopers on I-580 in a scene right out of Robocop -- he'd have been accused of creating a nightmarish cartoon.

With Williams, the jaw-dropping elements just keep coming like so many bullets.

He was a twice-convicted felon driving on a suspended license with an arrest history including assault, property destruction, a DUI, hit and run, and theft. And, yes, he was allegedly driving drunk prior to yesterday's shootout...Williams was apparently prone to maniacal rants about about left-wing politicians taking away his rights and lived with his mother in backwoods Groveland in Tuolmne County. She had a locker full of guns, as she believed that armed resistance against our government was inevitable -- but Williams allegedly made off with the stash because he felt that time was now."

And here's a little more, from SFGate:

"(His mother) said he had been released from prison about 2 1/2 years ago after a felony conviction..."He hasn't been able to get a job because he's an ex-felon and nobody will hire him," she said. She said her son was angry about his unemployment and about "what's happening to our country." Williams watched the news on television and was upset by "the way Congress was railroading through all these left-wing agenda items," his mother said.

Janice Williams said she kept the guns because "eventually, I think we're going to be caught up in a revolution."

Well, I've got a few things to say about this. In the worst job environment since the depression, this violent, twice convicted felon couldn't get a job. This was apparently the fault of a "left-wing agenda," and not his own choices in life. And, mother, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you are going to have to get some new guns for the coming revolution- I don't think the police are going to give you those back. And just a word to Byron- sorry, you were wrong...the revolution didn't start this week. How strange that your shooting at some cops who stopped you for drunk driving didn't enrage patriots everywhere.

Now to some more general comments: Here we are again, with some right wing asshole acting out the fantasies of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, but you know this story will totally disappear into the void without the mainstream press drawing a single logical conclusion from this incident, any more than they did from the guy and his son who shot the police in Arkansas last month, or the wingnut who flew his plane into a Federal building a few months ago, or any of the other of these incidents, which seem to regularly happen every couple of months.

Right wingers love to blab away about personal responsibility, but when they get into trouble in their own lives, it's always the Democratic Communist Muslims who are at fault. Byron, those jobs that you think you deserved- they probably all went to people who went to college instead of prison, and who are now working for half of what they earned a few years ago. Sorry that Obama personally ruined your life. He must have been in cahoots with those policemen you shot. Some advice: Next time...oh wait, you're not getting a next time.

An Oh So Predictable Story

From the L.A. Times, as a result of a tip from Poll P:

"Muslims throughout Temecula and Murrieta (California) have saved up for years to build a mosque to replace the plain white industrial building, tucked between a pipeline company and packaging warehouse, where they now gather to pray.

But as the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley moves ahead with plans to build on a four-acre plot of vacant land near Temecula's gentle hills and invading housing developments, plans for the new mosque have stirred hostility in this mostly conservative community in southwest Riverside County."

Hostility from you-know-who.

Honestly, I don't know why the Muslims don't want to stay in their industrial building- it's so convenient to have your bomb factory right in the same facility. I mean, that's all Muslims are up to, right? That's what I hear from our conservative brethren, and I'm sure they researched the issue carefully before broadcasting this conclusion to the whole world.

Words of Eternal Wisdom

From Captain Fogg at the Swash Zone:

"Things I've learned:
America is indeed a classless society, but not in the good sense."

Or as that great English man of letters, Thomas Carlyle put it so succinctly, "To the mediocre, mediocrity is excellence."

Who Cares?

"Obama to GOP: Restore unemployment benefits now"

Nah, let 'em starve. They're nothing but a bunch of lazy bums, or they would all have fellowships at the Heritage Foundation or jobs at Fox News. I mean if someone as dumb and worthless as Sarah Palin can make twelve million a year doing nothing but mugging for the camera and shouting out hateful talking points, you can't tell me that these people can't at least get a job on some State Republican committee.

Obama's Economy

CNBC Reports online today:

"Economists say the U.S. recovery continued during the second quarter of this year with more businesses hiring workers and fewer cutting jobs...The National Association for Business Economics said its latest survey, released Monday, found 31 percent of businesses added workers between April and June, the highest level in three years.

And 39 percent of those surveyed say they expect to hire more workers over the next six months — the most since January 2008. Manufacturers reported the strongest increase in demand and profitability."

The press and the villagers will never admit the damage done to the economy by Republican economic lies, which were never intended to to anything but expedite the extraction of wealth by the rich, from the rest of us (at which they did a very good job, sorry to say.)

No, it is so much more appropriate for these people to blame Obama, who slowly but surely is working us out of the deep hole dug by Bush and Cheney and Reagan and Greenspan and Gingrich and Milton Friedman and all of the other toadies of the wealthy.

What? Where?

I'm just not sure what to make of this story:

"The Syrian minister of higher education has prohibited the entrance of veiled female students into universities and colleges throughout the country, news agencies reported Sunday.

Dr. Ghitath Barakat explained that the donning of face veils, which cover everything but the woman's eyes, "opposes the morals and values of the academy".

Syria?

Well, if nothing else, let this serve as a reminder that Muslims are no more all the same than Christians. Christians are not all child abusing priests, and Muslims are not all crazed terrorists.

Who knew?

And this just in:

On the other hand:

"GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – There are few pleasures left for Gaza's 1.5 million people, squeezed by both a blockade and Hamas efforts to impose its strict Muslim lifestyle. And women here just lost another one.

Gaza's Hamas rulers have banned women from smoking water pipes in cafes, sending plainclothes agents through popular beachside spots Sunday to enforce the edict."

Yeah, just like Christian right wingers- a lot of them are jackasses. I hope all of those liberals who are so strongly supportive of these brave Hamas freedom fighters will take a moment to think about what kind of world they are helping to create.

You've Just Got to Laugh

Via Atrios, this hilarious comment from the New York Times about Pakistan:

"But behind the opulence lurks a troubling fact. Very few of these households pay income tax. That is mostly because the politicians who make the rules are also the country’s richest citizens, and are skilled at finding ways to exempt themselves."

Well, at least we can be thankful that such a thing would never happen in the most magnificent, God-blessed country on earth.

Wingnut Wrapup

Time for another load of sewage from the other side of the aisle, huh? Well, here's what they're "thinking" these days:

Pat "I Love Me Some Hitler" Buchanan, Town Hall: "Rescuing itself from the obscurity it richly deserves, the NAACP has found a way back onto the front page: accuse the tea party movement of harboring racists. Is it not an absurd world we live in?"

God, Pat has that one right. A guy who has spent a lifetime defending Nazis becomes an appropriate person to talk about the NAACP. And for stating a totally obvious truth. Well, Nazis like Pat don't have much use for the truth.

Michael Gerson, Town Hall: "Dishonoring Stalin's Victims"

Funny, this was not an article about how conservatives debase the horrors of the Stalinist era by comparing him to Obama. Go figure.

Neil Stevens, Red State: "Reid leads, or Mason Dixon understating Angle again?"

Oh, it must be the latter. How could the majority leader of the Senate possibly be ahead of a mentally ill scientologist in the polls?

Moe Lane, Red State: " The Democratic Governors Association Spent $800,000.00 Attacking Barack Obama...Doofuses."

I only quote Moe here to point out something I find so interesting. It is absolutely inconceivable to right wingers that someone on the left would actually dare to disagree with his leader. And which side of the fence do the real fascists live on?

Dan Benishak, Red State: " The Consequences of Bart Stupak’s Betrayal"

The consequences are an opportunity for the right to tell one more gigantic lie- in this case that Obama is funding abortions. See, Dan, there is a silver lining to every cloud.

Power Line: "Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee implores Congress to learn the lessons of our victory in Vietnam that we refused to declare, one that has resulted in two countries living side-by-side in peace and good fellowship."

Our "victory." Maybe it's just me, but I never associated victory with getting the crap beat out of you until you could barely control a square inch of land outside of your military bases, and then turning tail and running for home. And by the way, Vietnam is not "two countries living side-by-side in peace," it is one country as it always was, and has done just fine since the United States left and stopped killing millions of its innocent civilians. This stupid remark makes as much sense as giving the Nazis credit for the strong economic state of the Czech Republic today.

Scott, Power Line: "The Obama administration doesn't seem to have a clue about how businesses grow. "

Maybe, but at least they are not world class experts on how to make businesses shrink, like the Bush administration.

And here is another entry in the category of "scandals that are going nowhere:"

Emily Miller, Human Events: "Oprah NOT Invited to Chelsea Clinton's Wedding"

How abominable. I bet they didn't invite Mel Gibson either.

Tony Lee, American Thinker: "Palin's Potential Path to the White House Parallels Obama's"

Really:

Obama: Head of the Law Review, Harvard Law School
Palin: Attended five colleges to get a bachelors' degree in TV broadcasting.

Palin: Beauty contest runner up
Obama: No record of his having entered any beauty contests, although maybe the pictures are hidden away with his Kenyan birth certificate.

Obama: Constitutional law professor
Palin: TV Weather Girl

Obama: Served honorably as a State Senator and United States Senator
Palin: Quitter.

Obama: Elected the first black president of the United States:
Palin: Earned $12 million giving jingoistic, lying speeches anywhere that they would pay her.

Oh yeah, just alike, Obama and Palin.

Dr. Jack Wheeler's To The Point: "If those managing a company had acted as recklessly and irresponsibly as has Congress with the U.S. economy, they rightly would be fired."

Yeah, it's so gratifying to see all of those Wall Street guys and BP and Enron executives living on the street, trying to panhandle up enough money to buy a bottle of Thunderbird.

But wait, there's more:

"The death tax rate this year will be zero as a result of the Bush-era phaseout of this destructive tax, but it is set to jump to 55 percent as of Jan. 1. There have been many articles about the likelihood of individuals attempting to time their deaths before the end of the year to save their heirs many millions of dollars in "death taxes."

Oh yeah? I'd have been a little more convinced if he gave a single example of a rich person killing themselves to avoid a tax on their descendants. Why don't I believe that this ever happened? But the best is yet to come:

"Why don't we just create the kind of jail houses in Cuba, and let these two live out the rest of their lives, in separate cell houses; so that they can perhaps get a feeling of how so many political prisoners are housed in Cuba?"

Jack, maybe this has totally slipped your mind, but we have already created "the kind of jail houses in Cuba" so that people can experience "how so many political prisoners are housed in Cuba." It's called Guantanamo. Remember now?

Hans Balder, OpenMarket.org: "Abolish Law School, Keep the Bar Exam...I learned very little about real-world law in three years at Harvard Law School"

Hans, I don't know how to break this to you gently, but the (obvious) fact that you didn't learn anything in three years at Harvard Law School doesn't really surprise me that much, and it certainly doesn't lead me to believe that all of the rest of the students there feel the same way. Sorry, Harvard isn't going away just becuause you partied your way through the Law School (if you ever did.)

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Disgusting! NAACP Leader Ben Jealous Labels Tea Party “White Supremist Group” – Links Movement to KKK, Stormfront and David Duke"

It's always so disgusting to wingnuts to hear the truth.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Obama’s Marxist Religion Requires That Politicians to Redistribute the Wealth"

Jim, Marxists don't have any religion. Didn't you attend Tea Party 101? Maybe you should sign up for a refresher course at Glenn Beck University.

World Net Daily: "Breitbart to NAACP president: 'Go to hell'

Don't think he will take the advice. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

Chuck Morse, World Net Daily: "The Obama-Hitler-Lenin billboard...Needless to say, some liberal and even some conservative commentators are calling this inspired piece of legitimate political commentary "fringe" and are predictably attempting to link that label to all conservatives and Republicans."

It's legitimate to compare Obama to Hitler and Lenin. Of course it was treason to suggest that it might have been a tiny mistake for Bush to invade Iraq. Mr. Morse would probably regard this as legitimate commentary too:

Astute Bloggers: "MAYBE MEL GIBSON WAS RIGHT ABOUT OKSANA? I THINK MAYBE MEL GIBSON WAS RIGHT ABOUT OKSANA. I think when Mel describes her as a gold-digging, lying whore he was probably correct."

Know her personally, do you, O Astute ones? I don't think I need put down in writing what I think about this one. I know you are thinking the same thing.

Astute Bloggers: "ABRAHAM LINCOLNS' GOD IS NOT OBAMA'S GOD"

I said it above: These guys are both communists. They don't have any God.

Astute Bloggers: "HERE'S WHY "TAXING THE RICH" IS AN AWFUL IDEA:...the Top 5 percent in income earners account for about one-third of consumer outlays"

You know what's funny, when I hear that fact, I think it's a great reason to tax the bejesus out of the rich. How about you?

And let's end with Today's Poll, from Town Hall:

Who Is Worse?

Mel Gibson 1%
Eric Holder 54%
The NAACP 12%
The New Black Panther Party 23%
Roman Polanski 10%

Eric Holder, who I guarantee you, none of these people knows a damned thing about, is apparently 5 times as bad as a child rapist. What a bunch of great, patriotic Americans.

Climategate- Their Scandal, Not Ours

From the Guardian (via Americablog:)

"Last month was the hottest June ever recorded worldwide and the fourth consecutive month that the combined global land and sea temperature records have been broken, according to the US government's climate data centre.

The trend to a warmer world is now incontrovertible. According to NOAA, June was the 304th consecutive month with a combined global land and surface temperature above the 20th-century average. The last month with below-average temperatures was February 1985. Each of the 10 warmest average global temperatures recorded since 1880 have occurred in the last 15 years with the previous warmest first half of a year in 1998."

Remember last winter when, every time it snowed somewhere it proved that global warming was some sort of gigantic fraud? Well, I guess once you convince yourself that being against evolution and gays has more to do with the religion of Jesus than being for the poor, the sick, the stranger, it's easy to swallow just about any lie if the guy spouting it is promising you a tax cut at the same time.

There is a true evil that has been unleashed in our country. Where it will lead us I don't know, but I don't know how in the world we are going to stop it.

Important News

Just one step closer...and you're going to get such a bite.

Oil Spill Fades

A little addendum to my rant about the press just below, from Chris Cilizza at the Washington Post today:

"Gulf oil spill fades as an issue just as oil stops gushing into Gulf"

Funny that, as long as the Republicans could beat Obama up about this disaster that was totally caused by Republican deregulation and indifference to corporate malfeasance, it was the number one story anywhere. Within one day of the situation seeming to be under control, it "fades as an issue."

Apparently, as with the Wall Street reform legislation, things are only issues if they can be used to make Democrats look bad. Otherwise, who cares, right?

A Simple Explanation of the Dems' Troubles

Would you like to know why Democrats are having so much trouble getting any traction with voters, who seem posed to return to power the very people who nearly destroyed our country two years ago? Consider this: Yesterday, Obama and the Democratic party achieved a phenomenal victory for the American people by putting together an unstoppable majority in Congress to pass major new financial controls on the out-of-control maniacs on Wall Street. This was done despite the almost unanimous opposition of Republicans, who are dedicated above all else to letting the rich do any damned thing they want. How was this treated in our "liberal" press? Here are a few examples.

At the New York Times, the headline was: "Obama Pushes Through Agenda Despite Political Risks" The article was about how the voters apparently don't like being protected from another depression.

At NBC News: "Obama builds on a record blurred by poor economy" Again-nothing to indicate that he won a major victory for the American people, but another chance to implicitly blame him for the Republican economic collapse.

At the Washington Post: "Obama has a good day, finally But with inconclusive tests on oil cap and criticism of financial overhaul, will good feelings last?" Not a second to let Democrats enjoy this victory before swinging into attack mode.

ABC News- They could not even find room for this story in the "latest headlines," which does haves room for "Pamela Anderson's Racy PETA Ad" and "Jessica Biel Says No to Many Foods"

CNN: Again, not listed at all among major stories, but they did manage to run this: "GOP blasts Obama on economy." His decisive victory in dealing with what caused the bad economy is not worth as much coverage as the usual endless Republican lies about him.

If Bush had pushed this law through Congress despite almost unanimous Democratic obstruction (fat chance) we would have endless stories pushed down our throat about the magnificence of our wonderful cowboy CEO President. But Obama is not given a shred of credit in the mainstream media for his success. Is it any wonder that the Republicans, with the willing Quislings in the press, have been able to eat away at Democrats' ratings? This is exactly what gave us Reagan, Gingrich, the two Bushes, McConnell, Boehner, McCain et. al. in the first place. Without press collaboration, the Republicans would never have been able, in only three decades, to reduce the United States from the strongest country on earth to barely more than third world status.

And the press has learned nothing from the consequences of their behavior. God help the U.S.A.

Racists Pure and Simple

Mark Williams, one of the national leaders of the Tea Party Movement, in what he considers (I suppose) to be some sort of parody:

"Dear Mr. Lincoln

We [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!"

I never, ever, ever want to hear another ass claiming that the teabaggers are not significantly motivated by racism. We all know this is a simple fact, and here is one more proof. Racism and greed, that's all these "patriots" have.

FEMA Buses to Hell

And this just in from Survivalist News:

"FEMA Buses Spotted In Gulf Shores Alabama

Apparently FEMA is staging evacuation buses in Gulf Shores Alabama. Best guess is that the buses will remove Gulf Shores residents to the civilian prison camp at Maxwell AFB near Montgomery Alabama. The Maxwell civilian prison camp was established under Operation Garden Plot and is staffed and ready to receive “refugees”.

Because what possible reason could there be for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to be on the site of a national emergency? I mean, it must be to take people to prison camps, right? I sure can't think of what else they might be up to than starting to implement a plan to enslave the American people. That makes so much sense.

What an evil man that Obama is. Next thing you know he will be sending American troops to "fight" the "terrorists" in "Afghanistan." I mean, am I right, or what?

Cheney

From TPM:

"But reading between the lines, you're left with the distinct impression that Cheney, 69, is entering the late stages of congestive heart failure"

What heart?

Your Liberal Media at Work

From a story at Media Matters, we learn that Pamela Geller has recently been a guest on the following national TV "news" shows:

MSNBC News
CNN- American Morning
NBC Nightly News
Fox and Friends
Fox's Huckabee

Readers of Green Eagle will be well aware that Pamela Geller is an unrepentant right wing racist liar of the most despicable sort, who has devoted her life to spreading the ugliest hatred about Muslims, with side excursions to spread grotesque, hateful lies about Obama. Just recently, I reported her serious claims that Obama is plotting nuclear war against the United States.

What place does a person like this have anywhere near a program that claims to present the news, when even moderate liberals like Markos Moulitsas are almost totally blackballed from these networks on the thinnest of pretexts? And yet the media plays along with the right wing lie that it has a liberal slant.

This is not an accident, and it is (as I have said so many times before) not because people like Chris Matthews and Joe Scarborough have been conned by the right. It is because (thanks to Saint Ronnie) the networks are owned today by multinational corporations that have no more scruples about using the "news" to advance their agenda than they have about any of the other contemptible behavior that is their stock in trade.

Wingnut Wrapup

Well, here we are with the current skimmings off the top of the Republicans' ongoing attempt to turn the United States into a third world dictatorship:

Dan Riehl, Riehl World View: "Have you noticed what superb writers we have on the Tea Party side of the aisle?"

No, I haven't noticed that at all. In fact, if you don't mind my expressing my own opinion here, I would have said just the opposite. For some examples, just keep reading, and see how you feel about the question by the end of this post:

Doug Giles, Town Hall: "What If Glenn Beck Said, 'I Hate Every Last Iota of a N-----! Kill Their Babies!' "

You guys would all agree with him, although not many of you would say it out loud. That's what would happen, jerk.

Astute Bloggers: "COOLIDGE PURSUED A SIMPLE POLICY: LIMITED GOVERNMENT; IT LED TO THE GREATEST PROSPERITY THIS NATION HAS EVER KNOWN."

Yeah. Particularly from 1929 to 1940. We sure need more of that, huh?

While we're on the subject, how about this:

Walter Williams, Town Hall: "A Failed Obama Hero: Let's think about President Obama's failed economic stimulus program. Before getting to the nitty-gritty of why stimulus packages fail, let's look at the failed stimulus program of Obama's hero, Franklin Delano Roosevelt."

It's really amazing what people will say when they are confident that their base is really stupid and ignorant. Good thing nobody ever uncovered Jesus Christ's Democratic Party card, or these asses would be going around saying that he nailed himself to the cross and that the whole thing was a Communist plot.

Sher Zieve, Renew America: "AZ ceded to Mexico and the rise of the Obama police state?

I've been thinking and thinking about this, since conservatives started claiming that Obama has given Arizona to Mexico. Well, here is my solution:

I like the Grand Canyon and Canyon de Chelly, so I think we should keep that part. The rest of that God-forsaken state- give it to Mexico, if they'll take it. What good is it doing us anyway? And by the way, they can have a large part of Texas back too, as far as I'm concerned. I only wish we had taken Mississippi and Alabama from Mexico so we could make them take those states back too.

Wes Vernon, Renew America: "Government control of the internet? Oh, no you don't"

No, better to let the same people control the internet that run our insurance companies, banks and HMO's. That'll really make things run right, huh? Wes continues with this explanation of his opinion:

"Ever since he assumed the presidency, Barack Obama has pursued every Marxist ruler's ultimate dream — to put the media under his control so as to make them his personal propaganda ministry in everything but name.

We had media that were inching toward that scenario — from roughly the post World War II years until the late eighties, when President Ronald Reagan refused to sign a bill — rammed through Congress — that would have restored the anti-free speech Orwellian-sounding "Fairness Doctrine" which had been struck down by the courts."

Yeah, apparently with the aid of all those other Communist presidents- Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford and of course Jimmy Carter. Then, along came Saint Ronald Reagan, whose deregulation allowed virtually the whole of our mainstream media to end up in the hands of a few giant multinational corporations. That's worked out so much better for us, right? I mean, without them running things, we would have had Al Gore as president for eight years, instead of the brilliant CEO we had instead.

Alyssa Farah, World Net Daily: "The controversy over allegations White House officials at least as high as Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel offered two congressional candidates jobs in return for campaign favors, which apparently would violate the law, is reheating"

Reheating? Where? On the wingnut blogosphere, where the question of whether Abraham Lincoln was actually a communist is also reheating?

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Bill O’Reilly: Media Networks Are Not Honest"

Ha ha. What can you say?

Fox News: "The six-month election recount that turned former "Saturday Night Live" comedian Al Franken into a U.S. senator may have been decided by convicted felons who voted illegally in Minnesota's Twin Cities. That's the finding of an 18-month study conducted by Minnesota Majority, a conservative watchdog group"

Yeah, and it may turn out that he won by having monkeys vote for him. Boy, talk about sore losers.

Armstrong Williams, Town Hall: " SCOTUS nominations shouldn't’ be pro forma exercise"

Except when Republican presidents get to pick them.

Dan Riehl, Riehl World View: "Shhh - The GOP Hates The Tea Party And Conservatives...I don't doubt this for a moment."

You don't? Remind me again- which planet did you say you live on?

Tony Blankeley, Town Hall: "Lincoln or Kagan"

Probably Kagan. Lincoln is dead, and therefore not eligible to serve on the Supreme Court. I guess that slipped Tony's mind.

Michelle Malkin, Town Hall: "The National Association for the Advancement of Coddled People"

Because if there is one word that pops into my mind when I think of American blacks, it's "coddled." I mean, am I right here or what? They're just a bunch of babies that the rest of us have spoiled by making their lives too damned good. Now, let Sarah Palin into the White House, and she'll show them what it's like when white people stop treating them so great. That'll be a real character-building experience for them- having to experience poverty and discrimination for the first time.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Cuban Refugee Rescued on Styrofoam Raft Fleeing Castro’s Paradise Island"

What, you mean an illegal immigrant? Well, that's one black mark against communism. How does that stack up to the millions that come over here from that Capitalist free market paradise, Mexico? Oh, I see. That's different. How is it different, Jim?

William Tate, American Thinker: "Why Do Ethics Cost More in the Obama White House?"

Because there weren't any ethics in the Bush White House, idiot. And what did that end up costing us?

And now one more pathetic Republican attempt to gin up a bogus scandal about the Obama White house:

J. C. Arenas, American Thinker: "Rahm's brother had a key role in Lebron James circus"

What, you mean Ari? You know, the guy is a talent agent. That's his job, putting together things like that. He started his own company, and that's what it is there for. It's called free enterprise. Ever heard of that?

And now let me leave you with a cute cartoon, courtesy of the Astute Bloggers:

Well, at least he isn't unleashing the real four horsemen of the apocalypse: war, famine, pestilence and death. No, those are Republican specialties.

Nice Picture

This tasteful billboard paid for by teabaggers in Iowa:

"North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson says ...the pictures might be overwhelming the intended message."

What intended message would that be, and exactly how do the pictures overwhelm the message? As far as I can see, this billboard pretty much exactly represents the teabaggers' lying, sick, anti-American message.

Update: From Confederate Yankee, this sage observation on the billboard:

"Of course, Obama is nothing like Hitler or Lenin. Both of them were demonstrably more competent"

Well, there you go.

But Wait, there's more!

Jonah Goldberg, National Review Online: "it isn't quite saying Obama is a Hitler. In an academic setting one could defend at least some of the ideas captured in the billboard"

What ideas, Jonah, you prick? The only idea of that billboard is that Obama is like Hitler and Lenin. In what academic setting could you defend that idea? Oral Roberts University, or the Regent Law School?

Engaged. What Next?

From the AP:

"Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston say they're engaged"

Thank the Lord in Heaven above that we don't have the sick redneck spectacle of Sarah Palin and her white trash family one step away from the White House.

Pammy Discovers a Nuclear Plot

Some of you may remember when I stopped reprinting the ugly insanity from Pam Geller, when she decided to turn herself into a race hater that Joseph Goebbels would have been proud of. There just isn't anything amusing about someone who is that ugly. Well, I still look at her site once in a while, when I want to get a feeling for what they would be publishing in the Völkischer Beobachter if it was still in business, and I ran across this wonderful piece of political analysis the other day:

"But the party of haters, infiltrators, anti-capitalists, anti-freedom, anti-individual rights is going to have to pull off something really catastrophic to stay in power this November. And they will, because they despise the premise of America and they mean to replace it with statism, the source of untold, incomprehensible human misery for centuries."

Statism- a new term the wingnuts seem to have invented, which has no meaning except "I hate you, you dirty commie pig." I really wonder what a person filled with this kind of hatred knows about the premise of America.

"Conspiracy theorists who believe that our own government, led by President Bush, perpetrated the First 9/11 attack on America are fruitcake kooks. A part of their brain is unhinged. But if there is a Second 9/11 attack on America this October, and worse than the first, the fully rational response will be to accuse our own government, led by President Zero, of perpetrating it.

The rational response will be to say, This is no accident, comrades."

Rational- the very word that springs to my mind when I read things like this. Of course, we can't blame the saint Bush for anything, but if something bad happens, it is proof that Obama is an evil monster plotting our country's downfall. Isn't it amazing that one conservative after another can portray this thoroughly decent and skilled man as a corrupt, cynical fascist, who has been planning the demise of our country since, apparently, when he forged his birth certificate right after he was born?

"Let's recap. There will be an October Surprise pulled off by the Dems, of that we can be sure. It has to be national in scope, and overwhelming enough to overcome the GOP tsunami. The most obvious candidate to do the job would be a Second 9/11, even a Nuclear 9/11 - which also would have the added advantages of accelerating US economic collapse and providing further rationales for emergency government powers."

Yes, Ms. Geller is asserting that Obama is absolutely likely to attack the United States with a nuclear weapon or two, in order to crush the Republicans. Yes indeed, she is actually asserting that, in effect, Obama is the worst person who ever lived.

"The 2008 Democrat October surprise that ushered in the first hardcore radical post-American president was the "economic collapse." Oh yes, that was a beaut."

And yes, Ms. Geller is asserting that Obama and the Democrats deliberately caused the 2008 economic crisis, because people so loved Bush and Cheney that there was no other way that the Republicans could lose the election. This despite the fact that Bush's popularity was hovering in the low 20's before the collapse. Don't you dare blame it on what Ms. Geller refers to as:

“America’s Persecuted Minority: Big Business”

Boy, that's good for a laugh, huh? America's persecuted minority- the richest people in the country. How do they stand their cruel fate? Well, what's this shreiking harpy's answer to this nefarious Democratic plot?

"...get the Dems to understand that whatever they are planning in October, they will be blamed for it. It will be their fault for allowing it to happen, or for trying to pull off a dirty trick. TeaPartyers and conservatives should, then, begin a campaign right now and carry it through all the way to Election Day. Millions of such messages delivered ever week from now to November 2nd may convince even Rahm Emanuel to abandon the evil he and his fellow Dems are planning. And then, on an Election Day that has seen no October Surprise but a Dem Demolition instead, we can all congratulate ourselves and say to each other, This was no accident, comrades."

Because even if they don't set off a nuclear weapon in Chicago or Houston, see, it is obvious that they are going to try to do it, so it is to the teabaggers' credit if the Democrats carry on their typical weak electoral behavior- Dems would have gladly blown up the country if it weren't for all those letters to Rahm Emmanuel.

Well, there you go. Any criticism of Bush and Cheney was treason, but it's perfectly okay to accuse Obama of planning a nuclear attack on the United States. And lots of these people are ready to buy into things like this, without a second thought. Without a first thought for that matter.
