Another Serious Voice on Obama

Frank Gaffney is one of those right wing hacks who, unaccountably, continue to be regarded by the mainstream press as some sort of reasonable. responsible voice. This article by him today in the Moonie Times is a sad reminder of the hurdles we have to overcome before any honest discussion of our nation's problems is even possible:

"GAFFNEY: America's first Muslim president?
Obama aligns with the policies of Shariah-adherents"

Oh, of course. Obama is trying to institute Islamic law around the world. Everybody knows that, right?

"....The man now happy to have his Islamic-rooted middle name featured prominently has engaged in the most consequential bait-and-switch since Adolf Hitler duped Neville Chamberlain over Czechoslovakia at Munich...."

In what sense Munich was a "bait-and-switch," I don't know, as Hitler was entirely open about what he wanted, and Chamberlain capitulated. This nonsensical comparison only serves one purpose- to allow Gaffney to compare Obama to Hitler and Chamberlain in one and the same sentence, thus, portraying Obama to be, at the same time, a monster of evil and a craven coward. This is, of course, the lowest type of smear, but it's good enough for Mr. Gaffney, the president of the Center for Security Policy, and a serious participant in our national discurse.

"....there is mounting evidence that the president not only identifies with Muslims, but actually may still be one himself. "

Of course, Frank. I had Gaffney's "evidence" for this lie in my post, but deleted it as too stupid to refute in any detail. Go see it in the original if you want to waste your time.

"In the Speech and elsewhere, he has aligned himself with adherents to what authoritative Islam calls Shariah -- notably, the dangerous global movement known as the Muslim Brotherhood -- to a degree that makes Mr. Clinton's fabled affinity for blacks pale by comparison. "

Mr. Clinton's fabled affinity for blacks? Is there something wrong, Mr. Gaffney, with an affinity for blacks? Can even the hatemongers at the Washington Times be insensitive to the deliberate, conscious racism required to make such a remark?

"Even more troubling were the commitments the president made in Cairo to promote Islam in America. For instance, he declared: "I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear."'

So, fighting the kind of hatemongering so perfectly illustrated by this article, is actually trying to turn our country into an Islamic state. Right, Frank.

Notice, by the way, that, throughout this article, Gaffney refuses to refer to Obama as President Obama, and even refers to Clinton as "Mr. Clinton." I guess that, because they are Democrats, they just don't deserve to be considered the actual president.

Well, Frank, screw you. Your hatred and lies worked so well as long as the Democrats kept our heads above water, but once the American people got a real taste of what it means to be ruled by Conservatives, they didn't think so much of it, any more. So spread your smears to the ever-decreasing group that still thinks they can afford to live in your ugly world. For every one that goes, "yeah, that Obama is just like Hitler," there's one more that decides that they just can't afford your delusions any more.
